FINANCIAL BENEFITS AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MILITARY STUDENTS PENNSYLVANIA GUARD SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP* (up to $5,000): Active members of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and Air Guard who enroll as full-time students. FTA and EAP eligible. Guard personnel planning to enroll as part-time students carrying a credit load of 6 to 11 credits, or Guard personnel that are not yet FTA and EAP eligible, may apply for a fractional Service Scholarship of up to $2,500. PENNSYLVANIA GUARD SCHOLAR AWARD* (One full-tuition scholarship per year for an active Guard member enrolling as a full-time student): Scholarship proceeds will be paid after available Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) and state Education Assistance Program (EAP) benefits. Applications will be reviewed by a panel consisting of Thiel College, Pennsylvania Army National Guard and Pennsylvania Air Guard personnel. Download an application at www.thiel.edu/goguard. YELLOW RIBBON (CHAPTER 33) BENEFITS (up to the annual maximum for students who meet Chapter 33 eligibility requirements): Available to all military veterans. Fractional benefits possible as determined by Veteran’s Administration guidelines. Students should consult with the Thiel College Financial Aid Office and their local VA representative. Tuition and fees covered 100 percent. FEDERAL TUITION ASSISTANCE (up to $4,500): Beginning at the time of enlistment and available until degree is completed. MERIT AWARDS (ranging from $2,500 - $11,500): Renewable and based on academic merit, review of ACT/SAT and cumulative GPA. THIEL ASSISTANCE: Institutionally-funded, need-based awards are available as determined by individual level of financial need. *Thiel College Military Scholarship Eligibility Disclosure: Applicant must 1) be active Pennsylvania Army National Guard or Air Guard member in good standing, 2) be a Pennsylvania resident, 3) file the Free Application for Student Financial Aid (FAFSA) and accept all available grant or gift aid, and 4) meet Thiel College admissions standards and be in good standing with their respective Guard unit. Awards are renewable annually provided the student is making satisfactory academic progress.
