Experience the Thiel Commitment
Spring-Summer 2013
Thiel Students “Get Connected” at Jubilee Convention Imagine walking into a large room and seeing more than 2,500 college-age students singing to a live band. The scene then transitions to fantastic speakers and others explaining how students like these can make an impact in the world and truly mean it. Fast forward to several hours later and you’ll see students learning how to let God show through their chosen career path while discovering that they can save a life or help a family in need with the work they do. This is what you would see at the Jubilee Convention, a conference hosted by the Coalition for Christian Outreach, each February. This year at the Westin Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pa., 16 students and two faculty members from Thiel attended this conference. Each person attended sessions in their field of study or an area of interest to them in order to learn how they can truly make a difference with their lives. They also had the opportunity to take a break from studies, meet new friends and strengthen their relationship with God. —By Alyssa Bartlett ’14
Student Mime Group Performs Regionally TC Soldiers for God, Thiel College’s gospel mime performance group, performed at the following locations this academic year: Edinboro University’s Gospel Explosion, the National Black Student Union Conference (NBSU) in Lincolnshire, Ill., Clarion University and Westminster College. The group not only mimes: it delivers the Word of God and helps inspire college students to succeed in and out of the classroom with passion! Each member of “TC Soldiers” is a spiritual warrior bearing witness to a state of emergency in the lives of both believers and non-believers. They boldly speak out against the kingdom of darkness and intercede for those of their generation on behalf of the kingdom of light. TC Soldiers firmly endorse the Christian life as depicted in 1Timothy
4:12: “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” TC Soldiers is a group of worshippers and thinkers who desire to tap into another level of anointing and excellence. If you are interested in having the TC Soldiers visit your church, contact Joe Webb, Office of Multicultural Affairs, at jwebb@thiel. edu or 724-589-2839.
