2011 LSCU Awards Proud to recognize those professionals, volunteers, and credit unions that have made outstanding contributions to the development and growth of the credit union movement.


Awards Overview Professional of the Year

The Credit Union Professional of the Year Award recognizes a credit union professional from Alabama and/or Florida that deserves recognition for their contributions to advance the credit union movement in their state and the nation. Winners of this award will be recognized for their lifetime achievements and efforts to help craft an environment that allows credit unions to grow and prosper in order to better serve their members. The Credit Union Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes the credit union volunteer from Alabama and/or Florida Individuals nominated for this award shall have a record who has selflessly contributed time, effort, and talent to the of one or more of the following: productive service to their credit union, the League and its subsidiaries, chapters, Credit development of the credit union movement in their state. Volunteer of the Year

Awards Overview Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes lifelong service to the credit union movement reaching beyond the natural person credit union. Individuals who have a lengthy record of service to either Alabama and/or Florida credit unions that is substantive and encompasses a productive, voluntary effort exceeding the duties of regular employment are eligible. A nominee’s service record must reflect having produced a positive impact beyond an individual credit union. Achievement requires a contribution(s) which has benefited many credit unions. Entry submission must include the following:

Credit Union of the Year Award

The award recognizes an individual credit union for its outstanding achievements in the various areas of day-to-day operations, financial prowess, and community outreach. This award will be judged based on credit union asset sizes in the following categories: up to $100m, under $500m, and over $500m.

Brother’s Keeper Award

The Brother’s Keeper Award recognizes exceptional efforts by credit unions to provide ongoing assistance to developing credit unions through various means. Providing training, donating equipment, assisting with the implementation of new products or services, operational guidance and other services are all considered when granting this award. Entry submission must include the following: Overview of no more than 250 words that summarizes the credit union’s assistance to a developing credit union, including all of the following: • Name, asset size and location of credit union that has received assistance • Type of assistance provided, such as training, operational support, donated equipment • Number of years that assistance has been provided • Impact of assistance on developing credit union such as enhanced service to members, improved financial position, more knowledgeable staff and/or volunteers Letter from developing credit union outlining operational impact of assistance


Entry Submission Information Entry Requirements

Please read these instructions carefully. To ensure efficient processing of submission materials, all entries must include: • Completed entry form. • Financial information sheet if submitting entry for Outstanding Credit Union of the Year • An overview of no more than 250 words that summarizes the achievements of the individual or credit union in each of the areas listed for each award. • Up to two supporting documents that address the criteria listed in the description of each award, i.e. community involvement, press coverage, etc.

Selection Process

All LSCU nominations submitted will be reviewed by the LSCU Awards Committee, comprised of representatives from several LSCU member credit unions with a focus on credit union and community improvement. This diverse group proposes the winner to the LSCU board of directors to be ratified on the basis of the nominations and supporting information received. Any nomination submitted may be featured in various LSCU materials to demonstrate how credit unions and their leaders benefit their communities. Submission of a nomination indicates approval for the LSCU to use the nomination materials in its publications and advocacy efforts.

Award Presentation

Award winners will be notified confidentially. A public award presentation will be held during the 2011 AC&E in June.
