Meet Anthony, the General manager of The Showboat Hotel! Proudly hailing from Philadelphia with over two decades of experience in the Hospitality industry. He began his journey as a shared services Guest Service Manager for Harrah’s and The Showboat Atlantic City. In a full circle moment, Anthony is now back at The Showboat after starting his career here, stating that the community of Atlantic City holds a special place in his heart. Having developed many long-lasting friendships within this City, Anthony stands as a true testament to the value of forging enduring connections within the local community. As can be expected, working in this industry doesn’t come without challenges at times. When asked to share a particularly memorable crisis turned success story from his career, Anthony answered,
“In March of 2020, during the early stages of the COVID pandemic, I was told at 11am on a Sunday morning to close the hotel I was managing by midnight - and to inform all of our team members and guests that we were closing without any clarity on a reopening date. It was a scary and tragic time for so many, but it was also my responsibility to create a sense of hope and compassion. Ironically, it was the positive feedback and courage displayed by my team members that gave me the strength to lead. I am grateful for the lessons learned during such a difficult time and will never forget that a company is only as strong as the team members who support it!”
When looking back on his career, Anthony shared that The one lesson he would offer is to always remember the power of a kind gesture. “Whether in your personal life or in your professional career, a kind gesture can often change the conversation, and put you in the winner's circle. Simple gestures such as thanking a team member for a job well done, or perhaps welcoming a new guest with a genuine smile can have a dramatic impact. “

Gathered under the twinkling lights of Island Waterpark at The Showboat Hotel, the Cancer Support Community New Jersey recently hosted a heartwarming charity event that left a lasting impact. It was a night infused with an irresistible energy, where laughter echoed and hearts connected in support of a noble cause.
The event drew in a diverse array of guests, including prominent members of the local Atlantic City community, all coming together to rally behind those affected by cancer. Th evening was perfectly set with the tropical backdrop of our cascade waterfall and lush greenery.
The Showboat Hotel, is committed to positive community initiatives and charitable endeavors within our community, serving with love and compassion. The evening was another testament to the power of community coming together for a cause greater than ourselves. Meet Ryan, the vibrant Director of Waterpark at Island Waterpark hailing from the bustling streets of New York City but raised amidst the serene Pocono Mountains.
We sat down with Ryan to ask him a few key questions about his role at Island Waterpark and what his favorite parts of the park are! When asked what the best park of working at Island Water is, he answered “The management team and the staff. Everyone is so supportive and positive!”
We love Ryan’s commitment to building a strong team! His key tips to motivating and encouraging a large team are to treat everyone with respect, to listen, to teach them the importance of always staying true to yourself and through this, empowering them to be the best they can be.
When it comes to fun in the waterpark, Ryan shared that his favorite attraction is The Flow Rider surf simulator! It is a truly unique attraction that brings the action of riding waves indoors. Ryan also shared his excitement for the upcoming Flow Rider competition this Summer, where competitors will come from across the US & Canada to compete. The Easter celebration at The Showboat was a delightful affair, featuring a lively parade, prize-filled egg hunts, a dazzling pageant, and fun raffles, all with plenty of prizes to go around. Guests of all ages had a fantastic time participating in the festivities, creating cherished holiday memories of full of laughter and fun.
The Showboat Easter Parade, was led by our new mascot, Splash the dolphin, the beloved Easter Bunny, and Atlantic City’s favorite host, AC Mike. The dynamic beats of the MX Shabazz Marching Band, weaved through the hotel grounds, spreading joy and merriment to all.
One of the highlights of the day was the Easter egg hunt, where guests scoured the grounds in search of colorful treasures. But these weren't just any eggs; they were filled with exciting prizes, including coveted $100 game cards and annual passes to Island Waterpark.
Adding to the excitement was the Easter pageant, where guests showcased their finest Easter attire for a chance to win a complimentary hotel stay along with Island Waterpark passes. The competition was fierce as attendees donned their best outfits, from charming pastel dresses to dapper suits, all in the spirit of Easter elegance.

What inspired you to pursue a career in law enforcement, and how did you end up serving in AC?
I grew up in Atlantic City, watching my dad go to work every day as a AC police Captain. I wanted to work for the ACPD since I was a little kid. I started working in this city at 15, as a lifeguard and graduated from ACHS in 2003. My friends and family all still live here; I'll always care about Atlantic City.
What are the most exciting growth and changes you have seen in Atlantic City?
Having seen the changes this city has gone through over the last three decades, I'd have to say the most exciting change has to be the growth of its recreational opportunities. In the past, everything revolved around the casinos and gambling. Now we have a beautiful waterpark, restaurants, beach concerts, air shows. It's a great place to be.
Balancing a career in law enforcement with entrepreneurship is quite unique. Can you tell us about your business ventures and how you manage your time effectively between policing and entrepreneurship?
Wow, balance is very difficult these days, but it will come. I'm a father, a husband, a cop, and a new business owner - all full time jobs. After sixteen years as a full time police officer, last year, I added entrepreneur to my resume when I opened “A-List Car service”. In all of these things I try to give my all and treat everyone I work with fairly. I am doing my best to be present for my family, serve my community, and hopefully retire and relax young. I'm always working on my balance.
Being deeply involved in the community can have significant impacts. How do you integrate your roles as a police officer, entrepreneur, and community member to make a positive difference in Atlantic City?
Yes, you can say I'm involved in the community. Having spent the majority of my police career in high crime areas, I was tasked with finding and getting guns, drugs, and dangerous people, off our streets. Now I work in the tourism district and with our outreach programs to find our vulnerable homeless and help get them what they need to get off the streets. My business allows me to meet other locals and make connections for them and me.
Lastly, what do you love most about being a police officer in Atlantic City, and what drives your passion for entrepreneurship and community involvement?
I love (almost) everything about being a police officer. It goes hand in hand with my passion for entrepreneurship and community. I'm serving my community, quite literally, as a cop. But as an entrepreneur, I am bringing money, jobs, and even attention to our island. In all of these ventures, I get to meet new people. No day is ever the same. I am building a foundation for my girls to grow and learn, hopefully showing them the value of these passions. Atlantic City will always be my home and my family's home and I am here to help make it safe and successful.

What do you love most about Atlantic City?
As someone who calls Atlantic City home, there's truly nothing quite like it. For me, Atlantic City has shaped my identity in profound ways. My family's history is intertwined with this city, from generations past to the present. Growing up here, I've absorbed its rich tapestry of culture, tradition and community spirit, which have all played pivotal roles in shaping who I am today. Secondly, there's an undeniable allure to Atlantic City's natural beauty. The endless stretches of pristine beaches, the soothing sound of waves crashing against the shore, and the vibrant sunsets painting the sky with hues of orange and pink—it's a paradise unlike any other.
What inspired you to pursue a career in Education?
The decision to pursue my Doctorate in Education was not one that I took lightly. It was driven by a deep-seated desire to contribute meaningfully to the lives of young people and to play a role in shaping the future of our society. My experiences working with youth and engaging with communities reinforced my conviction that education is not just a profession but a calling to inspire, empower and ignite a love for learning in the hearts of others.
What is the most rewarding part of your career as VP of Student Affairs at Atlantic Cape?
Undoubtedly the opportunity to serve others and make a meaningful difference in students' lives. Service to others has always been my motto, and in this position, I have the privilege of putting it into action every single day.
As President of the Youth Exposure mentoring program, can you share what the program is and its mission?
Youth Exposure is an Enrichment and Mentoring Program dedicated to empowering young people to reach their full potential and strive for excellence in all areas of their lives.
Our mission at Youth Exposure is clear: provide leadership services that inspire, educate, and support middle school youth as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of adolescence. For over a decade, we have been committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed academically, personally and professionally.
