Visual Development for Self Promotion

When designing my logo i am looking for something that is quite minimal but stil very memorable to the viewer. Something that represents myself and my own personal style and personality. I am hoping to achieve something that looks proffessional but still very creative to show off my talent and set myself apart from competitors and stand out from the crowd through a memorable design. The logos that i have picked to begin with ll have aspects that i want to include such as possible colour and a simple clean cut look. (credit: PINTEREST)

Through looking at other business cards and logos i came to the conclusion that i wanted to keep my font very minimal whichi swhy i chose a simple font such as Century Gothic. A font that was sans serif and minimal bt still very heavy. I wanted to achieve something that was sleek and not over powering so that i could then edit into the text further.

I orginally decided to keep my logo incredibly simple taking inspiration from other brands that i had seen on Pinterest. From my research i decided to go with the idea of having a simple font but enhancing it graphically by having cut outs within my font so that it was more aesthetically pleasing than just having simple text.

Through my research i found these two existing brands and wanting to be heavily influenced by both of them through the use of a graphical font and then also have the use of the circles to include within my inital logo design as i felt as though it ept within the asthetic that i wanted through soemthing simple and minimal.

Once I had created my initial logo and then looked at it even further i felt as though even though it was exactly want i wanted to achieve, that t lacked substance, and it didnt stand out. I then decided to look at other aspects of my life and how i am influenced by art and picked a simple paint brush idea to use a part of my logo just to make my initial brand more interesting to view.

TOBIAS TOVERA

Whilst researching different kinds of paint strokes I came across the idea of using colour and water marked ink to use as a design. Through further research i cam across the artist Tobias Tovera as i loved the way in which he gave substance tot he way in which the ink was dispursed throughout and felt that it was something that represented what I am and the artistic side of myself.

I then went onto experimenting with using ink myself and seeing how it dispurses through a piece of tissue as it soake up the ink much more intensely. After i had scanned in the image that I had produced i decided to refer back to my orginal concept and keep my work minimal through sticking ot a simple monochrome colour pallette, and felt that it enhances the tone within the image.

After experimenting further with my image i decided that i liked the patterns within if i doubled up and flipped the image and felt that it was something that was eye catching to look at and decided that it would be much more aesthetically pleasing to use and personal as it was something that i had actually made.

When putting the orignal and the edited version together i feel that it shows how i have progressed with the image as well as the fact that it shows how much more depth the edited version has. I feel that as a person it represents myself so much more through being quite captivating when put together as a pattern.

After I had decided that i had created a background for my brand that i was happy with, i then looked back at my orignal fotn and felt that it was possibly now too heavy for such a dark image. I went onto researching different fonts and found an extremely light weight sans serif font that i was happy with Avenr Next Condensed in Ultra Light. I feel that it sticks in with my minimal theme keeping it very simple and then went onto removing the cut outs to make it a bit more proffessional and not as busy as i felt that i should either have a busy background or a graphical font as both would look to busy on a page.

When creating my CV i got the inspiration of centering and narrowing my CV odwn to stick in with the fact thati want to keep my entire brand quite sleek and simple with the text and then an eyecatching background, so that my entire CV was simple but effective. I decideed to use just a simple header of my name and then to also include different bits of my image throughout the page in different shapes to break up each section.

.THOMAS RYAN.

For my business card i decided to use my background image that i created but with my logo i then decided to but that within a white box as it made it stand out much more as the image beind acts as a frame to centre the text and make it much more of a focal point than the busy backgound. I then decided that my business cards would go inside of a simple black envelope so that it would make it much more sleek and make it seem as though it was a higher quality and as though it was an invitation almost and that if someone was given one they would feel sepcial about having something that has had time and effort put into it.

Final outcome includes; Visual CV, Portfolio CD, Business card with a link to my blog and email and my compliments slips.
