370 homes plan is spiked PLANS to build 370 homes on the edge of Thornbury have been rejected by a government inspector. Developer Bovis Homes launched an appeal after South Gloucestershire Council refused the plan to develop land near
Upper Morton in 2017. But planning inspector George Baird said the Bovis proposal would conflict with the overall development plan for the area and dismissed the appeal. Campaigners and councillors have welcomed the decision, with
South Gloucestershire Council leader Toby Savage saying that the plans were “not right for Thornbury”. Bovis, which could seek a judicial review, is considering its next move. Full story: Page 2
