Armstrong Hall v Turnberries venues vie for premier billing OPTIONS are being considered for the location of a main performance venue in Thornbury, with an extension to the Armstrong Hall complex or the Turnberries community centre being examined. A decision will also be taken on whether the library can be moved to Turnberries as part of overall plans for the important community facilities. The Armstrong Hall, with its stage, seating for more than 300 and the smaller Cossham Hall within the complex, is used for a large number of events but is in need of refurbishment. A consultation exercise, taking place throughout September, will collect the views of users and other people in the town on whether it should remain and be expanded or relocated to an extended Turnberries in Bath Road. If relocation is eventually supported, the Armstrong Hall site would be sold for redevelopment and the proceeds used to help pay for the work that would be needed at Turnberries. Full story page 3.
