“POINT OF DEPARTURE”

“Point of Departure” is my first full album that will be scheduled for release in 2014. It’s about my official take-off in life as a man, an artist, a father, and a son… on the road to something great. I don’t know exactly what yet, but I . Most of the albums material is me dabbing into a little bit of what TAHMELL is all about. I’m a New York kid trying to expand my horizons and have ventured to the West Coast to collaborate with some of the industries top producers, musicians, and artists. I never want to be one-dimensional or too underground. Being that I’ve listened to a lot of different genres growing up, I tried to incorporate those types of sounds… at the same time respecting the basic fundamentals of real hip hop. I believe I can reach people of all cultures and send a positive message out to the world through my music.

TAHMELL was born July 1988 in Long Island, NY... when most were learning to walk, he was already following his father’s (Hip-Hop legend RAKIM) guidance in terms of music. He began practicing and perfecting the art at the age of 5 and while most of his peers focused on playing in the parks and living a normal childhood, Tahmell was able to reap the benefits of being under the wing of his father. By this time he had realized that music was his calling and that growing up with the influences and wisdom he had acquired from being exposed to greats like Krs-1, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, Ice T, and Grand Puba would only help him establish himself in the hip-hop world. Throughout his childhood and adolescence, as Tahmell became more involved in sports and learned the essence of hard work and dedication to something you love, he realized how this also translated to music, and decided at that point that the only true passion he had in life was as a musician. Through the guidance and experiences he had as a child, watching his father at work in the studio, Tahmell set a goal to create a new sound that combined his own personal style with the type of classic hip-hop that had always inspired him.

Tahmell recently released his highly anticipated mixtape, “The After Effect”… which was the product of many years of growth and hard work. The release showed the world just how versatile he truly is, which makes Tahmell a force to be reckoned with in his own right. Expect to hear much more about this talented young prodigy... And look out for his new single, “Don’t Care”, off of his upcoming album, Point of Departure, scheduled to be released in 2014.
