A Message from the Chairperson KATHY SONNIER On behalf of the Women’s Commission of Southwest Louisiana, Inc., I would like to invite you to our 29th Annual Conference October 17, 2019 held at the Lake Charles Civic Center in downtown Lake Charles, LA. Our Conference Theme this year is Get Inspired! We are very excited that Taya Kyle will be our Keynote Speaker. Taya is a wonderful role model as someone who had a dream, imagined a better world and now inspires us all to make a difference! Taya Kyle is an American Daughter, Mom and Wife that women will find easy to connect with. While some recognize her as the Wife of late U.S. Navy SEAL sniper, Chris Kyle, she has since become a dynamic public speaker, inspiring others to find light, in the midst of darkness! In addition to being a New York Times best-selling author, Taya’s passion of changing the world is evident through her work with the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation (CKFF). The CKFF is fighting for the marriages of those who fight for us and, it is having a dramatic impact for military and first responder couples and their children! Everyone will find it easy to get inspiration from her message! We put together a variety of workshops that are also geared to help you get inspired! A list of those workshops is included in this publication. Registration is open now. Sign up soon as some workshops fill up fast. Our MarketPlace, will again be a highlight of our Conference expanding over two floors with information, fashion, jewelry, health, and local interest booths. Don’t miss out on lots of giveaways throughout the Sponsor and Vendor booths! Your attendance, along with our very generous sponsors, allow our continued success each year! Please check our Website and Facebook page for additional information and details! Looking forward to a fantastic and inspiring Conference,
Kathy Sonnier

2019 Women’s Fall Conference
Keynote Speaker: Taya Kyle
Lake Charles Civic Center Doors open at 8:00 am Inspire • Empower • Network
Advocate for Military Veterans and Families; Wife of Former U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle Taya Kyle was unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight through her marriage to the late, great American Sniper, Chris Kyle. Being linked by marriage to one of the most hardened Navy SEALs America has ever known; holding down the home fort while Chris did four tours in a war theater played out on our news screens and becoming immortalized in print and Clint Eastwood’s Academy Award-winning movie, American Sniper builds a rare internal resilience. Then, to have your world crumble when the love of your life is unexpectedly killed and being left as a single mom of two kids under 10, and to come through the other side of that with dignity - with the ability to still smile - delivers a totally new dynamic... Taya Kyle embodies the American Spirit and everything that it means to be American. Taya traverses the country as a renowned public speaker, spreading her message of faith, family and freedom. She inspires and motivates through her messaging that even when you are staring the Devil in the eye, there is always positive light that can be found. God’s plan will ensure you carry on. Taya became a New York Times best-selling author with her first book American Wife and in 2019 released her second book - American Spirit - a collection of short stories about inspirational people she has met through her travels all of whom combine to show the American Spirit is as strong as ever. She tells a compelling story of fighting through the toughest times imaginable and emerging even stronger through relying on faith, family and freedom - and a healthy, but irreverent, sense of humor. Patriotic, with a deep connection to her faith and humility, Taya Kyle has become a beacon of strength for women the world over, most especially those with a connection to the military, veteran and first responder communities.
