Getting Started
Choosing a Project Car on your self and have the bigger jobs like Engine and Trans overhaul and paint work done by a shop (if you need to). Where do you start, what car do I look for? How much should I pay? Do I look for a barn find or a project someone else started and can’t or didn’t finish? Do I buy off the internet or local? How do I know I am getting what I am paying for? What will it cost to get from what I buy to where I want to be with my car. Well let’s take a good look at each of these questions and maybe I can help you sort them out. The first thing is what car to buy, my advice to you is buy what makes you feel good, what makes you happy and what you can see yourself spending spare time enjoying-working on-and talking about. As well as doing research on to meet your end goal.(That’s right you need an end goal). Ok you have a car in mind and be realistic (because the next article we will talk about is budgeting)
Now let’s say you have chosen a Galaxie or maybe a Nova to be your project…(Regardless of what car you have chosen). Keep in mind parts availability. For example a 1973 Nova is an odd ball it’s very similar to earlier Novas in appearance but different enough that many parts won’t enterchange and can make it very difficult to build or find parts for. The same holds true for the 1967 Galxie or a 1964 Fairlane. So now you’ve got the car you want in your head it’s time to find it. The Internet is a great resource but there is nothing like going on a hunt.(and I highly recommend seeking out the car of your dreams in person) I am always disappointed at what I find on the Internet. ( looking better in the pictures than in person). Just hit the road in search. Look in the back lots and back yards you may be surprised at what you find. Ride in comfort for around $50.00 A easy clutch is a good up grade for the daily rider. It saves
your wrists and reduces hand cramps . If you’ve ever been stuck in traffic during Thunder Beach you understand how much that clutch will wear you out. It is a low cost easy upgrade to do with hand tools and an hour or two of your time.. Burly offers a easy clutch for just under thirty bucks Add in gaskets and fluid and your still around the fifty mark. You will need: Allen wrenches , Loctite, ratchet screw driver & a drain pan. First locate the clutch cable adjustment and loosen the adjuster all the way in so you have plenty of slack in the cable . Next if needed remove the rear exhaust pipe or the front depending on the type of exhaust you have on your scooter. you need to be able to get to the transmission cover . Its possible that you might have to remove the floorboards on some bike to remove the exhaust. The exhaust is pretty simple to remove just go slow and it will be easy. Sometimes you may have to pull the chrome covers off of your pipes to get them loose . Just think and go slow you will be fine. Now that you have the exhaust off you need to make sure you don’t have any covers or chrome things to hold up the cover from coming off. There’s lots of covers on this bike so we have to be slow and take our time to make sure we don’t bend or scratch anything. -Remove the Allen head screws holding the cover on. Careful! There will be fluid coming out so have your pan ready to catch the oil. With the cover upside down remove the clutch ramp retaining snap ring . Do not to loose the ball bearing inside . Cont....

Lift the ramp out. Remove the cable retainer and ramp. Now attach easy clutch to the ramp with supplied hardware. IMPORTANT! use Loctite . You now start the reassembly of the unit in reverse . Attach cable to retainer and retainer to ramp. Postion the bearing in the groves. Make sure that they don’t fall out.. Stick ramp in and place snap ring back in place.

You can expect to see one of these tactical high performance new cop cars on the street in the near future. With an expected highway life of over 250,00 miles and a list of features that would impress Starfleet, more than 20,000 of the new Carbon Motors E7 are currently on order including several slated for right here in Georgia.
