The Mysterious Adventures Of Oliver Rubin By Ryan Blackwell

Good Day, my name is Oliver Rubin. I‘m traveling with my family. We’re on vacation headed to southern Iraq along the banks of the Epurhates River. I was told that this area was once the ancient royal city of Babylon. “Great Kings ruled these lands like King Nebuchadnezzar”, I said to myself. “It would be great if I found an ancient ruin.”

My family and I reached the hotel and began to unpack. My brother and I were super excited about the tour, our Dad had scheduled for us. “Boys, grab the binoculars the tour starts in an hour,” he said. We grabbed a snack and went down to the lobby to meet our tour guide. He was a tall thin man with a heavy accent.

‫ﻋﻠﻴﻜﻢ‬ ‫ﺍﻟﺴﻼﻡ‬

“Koree, elu. assalam alaikum,” he said. “What does that mean?,” asked my brother. “It means hello.” “That is how we greet one another in my country.” “My name is Muhammad.” “Today, I will show you many great things in my country.” “Can we go on a treasure hunt?” “We will see”, said Muhammad.

We started off in a rickety old bus. It was a short ride. At last we arrived at the temple of Marduk. This is the place for the shrine of Nabu the god of wisdom and writing. Our next stop was the Kasr. The castle of King Nebuchadnezzar. We got off the bus and looked around.

As I began to walk towards the center, I fell and my foot got stuck. I wiggled it free and the earth began to fall apart. “Oliver?” mom cried. “Are you okay?” she said, scared to death. “Yes...Yes I am fine” I said, trying not to make her scared. “Good I am glad your okay.” she said back in a calm voice. I went to sit down on the stairs I tripped over to catch my breath. When I stood up and looked behind me and saw something big.

“What is that thing?” My brother said mysteriously looking trying to figure it out. It appeared out of nowhere. I must have triggered the earth to move when my foot was suck. “I think that is The Hanging Gardens Of Babylon,” I said trying to reach for my map. “I think I know what it is” I said to my brother. “Well, what is it” My brother said anxiuosly. As we continued to walk farther toward the center more of the tall greens began to show. My mother and father were astonished. The tour guide began to speak in another tongue, eye bulging and pointing. ‘It...It..It.. is” I said stuttering.

“It’s The Hanging Gardens Of Babylon!”, I said with uncontrollable excitement. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon. It is belived that people have been trying to find this for thoundsands of years. “We’re going to be rich!,” my brother said. “People who find really old stuff get rich.”

The whole family was surprised at what Oliver had found. They were all crowding around him. His brother told him to take a picture of it! Oliver was the most famous kid in all the Earth because he found a lost treasure. When his family returned from their vacation, all Oliver could think of was what he learned about in school actually came to life. He could not wait to share his fun filled adventure with his friends.
