Greetings Parkers; America IS NOT living in strange times, the more you look and compare, it is ALL too familiar. Racial and Class disparity, violence, unrest, unwillingness to work together...and it continues to this date in Highland Park. At times when our small city could come together and excel, it seems to be more about publicity and ego, than it is about thriving. I implore all of us to come to the table or perish

I pray that you and your family have been safe and sound during such a trying time in our community, I am writing to request your assistance in making sure that both you and your fellow neighbors are counted in the 2020 Census. An undercount in Highland Park will continue to place our city into further decline which would create a misleading picture of our population growth, affect our Medicare, Medicaid, and unemployment assistance we receive to serve our residents, and cut funding programs for our two schools including Barber Academy and George Washington Carver Academy. Each person per household accounts for over $50,000 for the next 10 years and we currently have acquired over $205,000,000 in future federal funding with those who have completed their census in Highland Park.`Your participation will help us reach our goal to over $600,000,000 in federal funding for Highland Park. When I formed the Highland Park Community Census Count Committee, your well being was always in mind - because you deserve better. You deserve a beautiful neighborhood including fixed roads, demolished blight, and clean water. You deserve community resources and support. Both our Census City and Community Census Committees are working very hard to increase our count, but we need your help. We have recently received a census outreach grant from the office of Wayne County Executive Warren Evans which will give us the tools we need to increase awareness. Take action and fill out the 2020 Census for your household to make sure you and your loved ones get counted. In partnership with our City Census Count Committee Chair Marli Blackman, we will be rolling out a citywide phone and canvassing campaign. Over the next few weeks you will receive details regarding our first Highland Park Census Car Parade and Movie Rally. Census enumerators will be knocking on your doors in July, and if you have not
cont... filled out your census by then please practice social distancing, welcome them and do so- they will have an Identified ID with a Census enumerator code. The census form can be filled out by phone, email, or onlineyou do not need a 12 digit code nor need a permanent address. Visit www.2020census.gov or call (844) 330-2020 to phone in your Census. Customer service hours are 7am-2amEST. Remember I am always available to assist and am here for you.
