CURRENT DESIGN FAILURES
THE BIGGEST PROBLEM AND WHERE WE COME IN
INTRODUCING THE:
LILY CHAIR FEATURING: -A LOCKING MECHANISM TO PROMOTE SPATIAL LEARNING AND INTERPERSONAL INTERACTION. -CONSTRUCTED FROM PANELS OF VARIANT COLOURS AND SHAPE PATTERNS - COMFORTABLE SEATING CUSHION FROM RENEWABLE MATERIALS -EASILY CONSTRUCTED AND LIGHT WEIGHT
LILY CHAIR FEATURE
SIX-WAY INTERACTION
Using a hexogon to create 6 ways to increase connection whilst also creating a creative method fo connect to friends. active part to persue their own learning and promotes team building
double geometric locking surfaces
LILY CHAIR FEATURE
EASY/ FLEXIBLE CONSTRUCTION
Each panel is constructed individually, dyed and patterned in various ways to create distinctive faรงade without undermining structural integrity. At the time of construction, each panel can be constructed in way similar to Legos where pins would click together creating a solid shape safe for children. But this method of construction allows for customisation unseen within other furniture. This idea promotes self-reflective expression. And can become another creative output.
LILY CHAIR FEATURE
WALL INTERACTION
Innate design of the patterns and the extruded feature of the chairs make them very easy to stack together as a way to store/save space. The education value we’ve integrated is to use the patterns to create a designed wall feature. This can be a curious site as depending on how they are stacked they will reveal different patterns and variation.

FABRIC FORMATION
The formation and importance of the fabric is both functional as a cushion and as a method of interaction and development. Filled with buckwheat filling, a natural cushion, the cushion will be water resistant and able to be cleaned with a cloth. The buckwheat filling is at the perfect density for comfort whilst being thin. Unlike foam or cotton counterparts which requires plenty of depth.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
LIGHT WEIGHT, DURABLE, WATERPROOF, PLASTIC WAS OUR MATERIAL TO CREATE OUR CHAIR DESIGN.
USING INJECTION MOULDING, THE PLASTIC COMPONANTS ARE NEARLY 2D MAKING THE MOULDS THINNER AND EASILY MANUFACTURABLE. INSTEAD OF CREATING A LARGE DRUM FOR ROTATION MOULDING. INJECTION MOULDING IS USUALLY FASTER TO MANUFACTURE DECREASING EMISSIONS AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION
BEING MADE UP OF PANELS, TRANSPORTATION DEALS WITH STACKING. STACKING REDUCES SIZE AND MORE CAN BE CARRIED FASTER AND MORE EFFIENCTLY.
HAND CONSTRUCTED WITHIN THE HOME, THERE IS LOW EMBODIED ENERGY IN CONSTRUCTION. THE DURABLE MATERIAL ALONG WITH BEING WATERPROOF EXTENDS THE CHAIR’S LIFE PERIOD.
AT THE END OF LIFE, PANELS ARE TAKEN APART EASILY BY PUSHING ON THE PINS.
THE BUCKWHEAT IS A NATURAL FILLING MAKING IT EASILY DISPOSED OF.
THIS WITH TRANSPORTATION REDUCES SPACE REQUIRED.
THE PLASTIC LID AND PANELS ARE MADE UP OF THE SAME MATERIAL MAKING SORTING AND ISOLATING DIFFERENT ELEMENTS UNNECESSARY
