SMACKDOWN WOMEN SET TO MAKE HISTORY AT TLC This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown saw the final build up to this weekends TLC event pay-per-view, an event that includes what is a highly anticipated rematch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch. Ever since Alexa was named number one contender to the Women’s Championship a few months ago, she has been on the hunt for that title and despite the fact that Becky Lynch was unable to defend the title at No Mercy a few weeks ago, a rematch between the two was made in Glasgow and ended in controversial fashion. Alexa’s foot was shown to have been under the bottom rope when the referee saw her tap to the Disarmer, which means that the submission should not have stood, but rather than reverse the referee’s decision, it has instead been announced that Alexa will be given another shot at the Championship.

After what was a heated contract signing on Tuesday night, Alexa fought off Becky and put her through a table before it was announced that the duo would collide in the first ever singles Championship tables match between female competitors. Back in 2010 Laycool, Natalya and Beth Phoenix competed in the first ever tag team Tables match at the TLC event as well. Which makes this just the second match in history but the first for a Championship and the first as a singles match. With all the history that Sasha Banks and Charlotte are making over on Raw by being the first female superstars to compete inside Hell in a Cell and then becoming the first females in more than a decade to not only main event Raw, but then main event it more than once, it has left the SmackDown females in the background and hopefully now this will put them back on the map. It is a well-known fact that Raw gained the better female wrestlers, but SmackDown is trying to make the most of what they have and are managing quite well with a lot of the talent that they acquired from NXT. Not only are Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss set to collide for the Women’s Championship on Sunday Night, but Nikki Bella and Carmella are also set to go one-on-one in a no disqualification match. Nikki and Carmella have been fighting for just as long as Becky and Alexa and their feud looks set to come to an end in a match that literally has no rules. Nikki challenged Carmella to this match after she thought that it was her that attacked her last week at Survivor Series and in doing dso prevented her from captaining team SmackDown’s women in their elimination match. It has not yet been revealed as to who it was who attacked Nikki, but it is thought that a returning Eva Marie could shed some light on that if she does make her return on Sunday night. Give that both Nikki and Eva play main roles on Total Divas it would be a great idea to put the duo together in a rivalry and advertise the new season of the show at the same time. As of yet, it is unknown as to how Eva is returning and whether or not it will be this weekend. It is SmackDown’s final pay-per-view event of the year and it finally seems that the Blue Brand are hopefully putting their female talent into the spotlight. The event itself is being main evented by Dean Ambrose and AJ

Styles as the latter once again puts his title on the line against The Lunatic fringe in a TLC match. The Tag Team Championships are on the line as the strange duo of Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton take on unlikely champions Rhyno and Heath Slater. The Intercontinental Championship will be defended in a ladder match between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler as those two look to finalise what has been a lengthy feud between them. Kalisto looks set to gain some revenge for the recent attacks and abuse that he has encountered at the hands of Baron Corbin when the duo collide in a Chairs match on Sunday night. TLC is already shaping up to be an incredible night and it could well see more matches added in the next few days. WWE SmackDown Tickets DEC
