Who’s Who!!! Laura joined the team at Tic Toc Play in June 2013, she has been working with children since she was 19, starting out in a nursery in Hove. Coming from a large family, with 3 younger siblings, she has always felt her career should be working with children, gaining a Level 2 NVQ in Early Years Childcare and Education. Playwork became important to Laura, and after working at three different afterschool clubs and the Brighton Play Bus club for a couple of years, she learnt a great deal about Playwork and its underpinning theories and gained a Level 3 NVQ qualification in Playwork. She is very passionate about children getting the right to enjoy play and love a good discussion on the subject. Laura also works as a Midday Meals Supervisor at Sompting Village Primary School, so knows a lot of the children at the school! She has also recently gained a foundation degree in Playwork with Merit from Brighton University. In her spare time, she loves to read, listen to music, garden, and also DJ’s in Brighton clubs as a hobby. She lives in Sompting with her partner and his young daughter, their three cats and three chickens :)
Sompting Summer Holiday Recap Where do I start? over the summer holiday we’ve had a blast. We did so much every day, where do I start. Week one started with such an array of beautiful music, followed by an array of fantastic activities. Week two, we made some yummy treats, we experimented with paint and lots more. We made great mud pies, built dens and climbed trees. We had a visit from the Sussex Music Workshop, where we got to make the most amazing music using junk objects. We made so much mmmmm……….. music! (load scary sounds) the kids had a great time. We also had a visit from Joe the Mini Beast’s guy from a company called Zoo Lab, Joe talked to the children about lots of different insects and they even got too hold loads too. The corn snake was a favourite even if it was a little scary. Week 3, was a whirl wind of adventure. We started with some arts and crafts and races on the go-karts. We then we all ventured out to Broadwater Green in Worthing for National Play Day, we celebrated our favourite day by visiting all the stands and stalls around the green, the children got to dance in the arena, play in the police car (sirens as well), shoot penalties, try out fitness equipment, cover a real car in wallpaper paste & newspaper, had a giant foam fight and a million goes on Tic Toc’s coconut shy. We had so much fun the kids and the adults didn’t want to leave. We also went to Drusilla’s this week, we got to meet some real life Meerkats, feed the parrots in the giant avery, and got to meet baby kangaroos, the children were fascinated walking through the bat cave. Week 4, was a hive of activity, we made amazing dens in the trees and we watched the builders dig up the other playground. We got so messy outside with the paint bombs but making sweetie kebabs was the best activity by far. We took a trip to the beach and searched the rock pools for shrimps and crabs but playing games on the pier was great fun. We also took a trip to Knockhatch at the end of the week, we fed the animals, we went on the massive water slide, we rode the demon drop slide about a million times, we jumped on the giant pillows and splashed down the water run. Week 5, just because it was our last week doesn’t mean we slacked, we went to Brooklands Park on Monday, all the children got to go and play in the fantastic park and get soaking wet in the paddling pool. We made yummy peppermint creams and had a foam party (more like a foam fight, hehe) and we also had Owls About Town come and visit us, the owls were amazing and the children were in awe when the largest owl flapped his wings over their heads. We finished the week with a street dance session which had all the children on their feet. We had a marvellous time this summer, we saw and did so much! We really can’t wait for the October half term. To book a place now, just go to www.tictocplay.com & click on the holiday club button.

How time flies by and in July we celebrated our yearly event “The staff Awards”. This was no mean fleet this year, as everybody had been brilliant. At the end of our yearly training session, we had all the staff together and what a motley crew we have lol! “only joking”. Brilliant photo that made. As staff were munching away on nibbles, waiting in anticipation for Linda to announce the winners. Wow! This had been a hard decision but we felt we had chosen well, due to this we increased the number of awards because of their hard work for you and the children. Good luck to the others, as it could be your turn next year. Well Done
