– met Modge Podge. Plaas die dagboek bo-op die lap – en trek die boek se buitekant met die lap oor. Soos jy ’n skoolboek sou oortrek. Laat dit droog word.

3. HOEK-HAKIES Gebruik karton waarvan jy hou. Jy kan dit met lap oortrek, of jy kan dit verf. Of, soos in die voorbeeld, nét so gebruik. Knip ’n reep af, so tussen 1cm en 2cm breed.

Vou die hoek-punt oor, soos jy ’n driehoek sal begin. Vou die res van die lint oor in ’n spieëlbeeld-driehoek (soos in die voorbeeld) en knip die res van die strook af. Dit is jou eerste hoek-hakie. Vou nou nóg drie.

Spread the word of the Mo wherever possible to drum up support on campus. You could target your course email list, put posters up, post about Movember on Facebook or give a pre-class shout out. Contact the sports team and the

other extra-circular associations to see if they want to join your team (or start their own). Once you’ve built your team, keep the momentum going by finding prizes for the best Mo of the week. If you can’t make it to the nearest official Movember Gala, host your own! Award the titles of Man of Movember and Miss Movember for your school. Challenge your teacher to a Mo-off. The best Mo at the end of the month chooses the other’s costume at the Movember Party.

Op 29 Oktober 2014 het ’n span van 8 Natuurbewaarders van die Blaauwberg Natuurreservaat Gene Louw besoek. Hul doel was om die leerders bewus te maak van die voordele van veldbrande (georganiseerd) en die nadele van veldbrande wat onbewustelik of

Kenridge Spring Concert

Medals for children with cancer

On 16 October 2014, twenty two senior choir members from Kenridge Primary School put smiles on the faces of the elderly at Oude Westhof. They entertained them with their joyful music and also presented them with beautiful roses.

Grade 2CS has collected 134 medals towards the CHOC initiative. Children who have undergone chemo therapy will each be awarded a medal to honour their bravery.

Vier van Laerskool Kenridge se tennisspanne het deelgeneem aan ‘n Westman Tennistoernooi op Ceres. We are very proud of all of these players! The U/13 boys were awarded gold medals. The U/13 and U/11 girls received silver medals and the U/11 boys were placed in a joint third position.

2014 Dux-leerdee

Dinsdag, 21 Oktober was al ons graad 7-leerders van 2009 uitgenooi na die skool. Hulle was verwelkom deur van hul oud-onderwysers en toe getrakteer met iets te ete. Daar is vir hulle van hul laerskooldae se fotos gewys en toe word vir hul sterkte toegewens en gebid. Baie sterkte aan die matrieks met hul eindeksamen en mag jul toekoms rooskleurig wees.

Sportman en Sportvrou van die jaar Tydens ons prestige prysuitdeling het ons ons sportman en sportvrou van die jaar aangekondig. Baie geluk aan Jaco Oosthuizen en Anneke Human vir hul puik prestasies in sport. Jaco Oosthuizen verteenwoordig die skool in onder meer atletiek en rugby. Anneke Human verteenwoordig die skool in netbal en tennis.

Top 3: Graad 4 tot 7

Tydens die prysuitdeling het elke leerder van die Top 20 ‘n sertifikaat ontvang en dan het die Top 3 van elke graad ‘n ere sertifikaat ontvang. Meeste van hierdie leerders blink nie net uit in hul vakke nie, maar ook op die sportveld en op kultuurgebied. Met gemiddelde persentasies bo 80%. Baie geluk en bou so voort.

Met al haar sport- en kultuur prestasies en boon-op ‘n gemiddeld van 92% vir haar vakke, is dit ‘n voorreg om bekend te maak dat Anneke Human ons Dux-leerder van 2014 is. Buiten vir die sport-prestasies soos hierbo genoem, ‘n veelsydigheidsbeker vir kultuur, het sy die volgende toekennings ook ontvang in die volgende vakke: Wiskunde, Afrikaans, Ekonomiese Bestuurswetenskap, Sosiale Wetenskap en Natuurwetenskap.

Laerskool Eversdal 6 NOVEMBER 2014 Eisteddfod

Drie van die leerders van die Laerskool Eversdal was onlangs by die Tygerbergse Eisteddfod kategoriewenners in hul graadgroep. Dit beteken dat hulle die hoogste

persentasie vir hulle kunswerke gekry het van al die inskrywings in hulle onderskeie grade. Dit is voorwaar ‘n baie groot prestasie vir een skool om drie kategoriewenners in een jaar te hê.

Van links na regs is Christian van Heerde (gr. 4), Janke Beetge (gr. 1) en Walter Swart (gr. 3).

Smurfs-Day

Op Vrydag 7 November het Voorbereidingskool se oriënteringsdag vir 2015 se nuwe Graad 1’s plaasgevind. Opgewonde leerders is na hulle nuwe klaskamers geneem en het hulle onderwysers ontmoet. We trust the new learners and their parents will have a memorable and happy association with Durbanville Preparatory School!

Our Grade 1 to 3 after care learners had a very special Smurfs-Day on Friday, 7 November 2014. The learners enjoyed preparing their own healthy fruit and even had “Smurf Juice”.

Swembadprojek Voorbereidingskool Durbanville is verheug om aan te kondig dat ons skool se nuwe swembad se uitgrawings begin het. Wat ‘n voorreg om fasiliteite van hierdie kaliber aan ons leerders te kan bied. The swimming pool will meet the FINA standards for a short course pool (25m long). Swimming is a basic life skill and each learner at Durbanville Preparatory will benefit from the facility.

Edgemead Primary School Edgemead Primary learners shine at the Metropole North Mathematics Competition Sixty thousand learners took part in the 1st round of the Metropole North Mathematics Competition. The top 3 learners from each grade were invited to take part in the 2nd round, which was held at Panorama Primary. In our circuit (circuit 4), eight of our 20 learners achieved a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. These eight learners were invited to take part in the 3rd round, which took place at De Tyger Primary. Here the cream of all 7 circuits competed against one another. We are still awaiting the results at the time of printing. Concert

On 28 and 29 October it was time to “Believe in Make-Believe”! It was the EPS school concert. “Technology is taking over and the less children read, the more powerful Maleficent becomes. This is a hero’s quest to save Neverland from her clutches...” The play incorporated favourite fairy tales such as Peter Pan, the Wizard of Oz, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, the three Bears, Snow White and even Shrek.

Hoërskool Tygerberg NOVEMBER 2014 7 Rolstoel Uitstappie

Op 20 Oktober het die Landsdieners bedlêende inwoners van Huis-Martina op ‘n uitstappie in rolstoele geneem. Dit was ‘n heerlike dag en hulle kon die buitelug geniet. Hulle het ook by Filadelfia speelskool gaan inloer, waar die kleintjies vir hulle gesing het.

Matriekrokkompetisie

Die wenner van die 2014 Parow-sentrum/ TygerBurger-matriekrokkompetisie is ons eie trotste Tier, Herna-Dette van der Zanden.

Musicals-Oppie-Veld

Meneer Barend en oud-skolier Sarah Theron het saam met ons skoolkoor en die Laerskool De Tyger-ensemble almal se harte aan die brand gesing op die maat van die Tagtigs en Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Hoërskool Durbanville Suksesvolle Durbie Dash Dag en Tjekoorhandiging HSD se jaarlikse prettrap, wat plaasgevind het op 25 Okt, het hierdie jaar bekend gestaan as die Chris Willemse Cycle Durbie Dash. Deelnemers soos oud-springbok rugbyspelers Corné Krige en Joel Stransky het deelgeneem en gaan volgende jaar weer saamry. KFM-omroepers Liezel van der Westhuizen en Ryan O’Connor het ook saamgery as deel van die KFM-

fondsinsamelingsprojek vir die BABY NICELA FUND. HSD het ook tot hierdie fonds bygedra. Sien aangehegte foto by Tjekoorhandiging te Chris Willemse Winkel, Willowbridge aan Nicela se ouers. Tennis

Freddie van der Merwe het die afgelope tyd aan twee van die “International Tennis Federation” se toernooie deelgeneem. Die toernooie het plaasgevind by Coetzenburg in Stellenbosch. Hy het in een van die toernooie deurgedring na die kwart-eindrondte wat ‘n uitstekende prestasie is. Ons is baie trots op hom en hou hom verseker dop vir die toekoms.

Fairmont High Grade 11’s Design Practical Exam The Gr 11’s challenge was to design a surface for the design classroom’s chairs inspired by any art movement or style. Each chair is unique and give the viewer (or the sitter) a glimpse of Post Impressionism, Pop Art, Kitch, etc. They are all beautiful - Thank you Gr. 11’s for tapping into your awesome imaginations!

Interact: Cracker Project 2014 The Grade 10 learners of 2014 set out to raise funds for Fairmont’s Interact Society. They finally raised more than R7 000. With some of this money the Interact Society and the Grade 10’s made 1,000 Christmas sweet crackers for children who receive no gifts at Christmas time. Thank you Fairmont family! The sweet crackers will be distributed by our Sarmie Mommies to the children who need it most. The Interact Society also helped to put together Fairmont’s contribution to the Santa’s Shoebox project. With many hours of help from Mrs Kim Jones,

Fairmont is very proud to add our bit to this amazing project. Initially the Fairmont family pledged only 55 boxes to this worthy cause, but thanks to the generosity of the learners, staff and parents, we delivered 200 boxes to the CTICC on Friday, 31 October 2014. 4 of our grade 10 learners represented Fairmont and worked at the CTICC on Friday, helping receive thousands of boxes from the public. This was a wonderful experience. We would like to thank everyone involved in the project, as well as every single learner / parent / family who generously donated towards this project.

Die Gr. 11’s van Hoërskool Stellenberg het onlangs Gr. 11 dag gehou om die feit dat hulle nou die SENIORS van die skool is te vier. Daar was heelwat kreatiewe en interessante kostuums, kyk gerus!

The Settlers High School Legacy Building Leaders

The Settlers prefects of 2015 shared their vision and mission for their leadership term at their first Prefects’ Assembly on 4 November. The prefects entertained the school with skits, dances and their own original song to promote their vision: “Change within or remain without”.
