AWSUMCelebrity Interview
V: Jy is wêreldwyd bekend as topmodel. A: Pasella se vervaardiger het my in 2007 gevra of ek sou belangstel in TV-aanbieding. Watter boer sou jy sê is AWSUM?

AWSUM NEWS NOVEMBER 2016
V: Wat is jou raad vir eerste afsprake? Tel eerste indrukke? V: Jou man, Ernst Joubert, was bekend as rugbyspeler. Wat doen hy deesdae? A: Hy is Head of Operations by Stellenbosch Academy of Sport Rugby Institute.

You’ll see them popping up on everything from head to toe --- the more outrageously colourful the better. They’re the newest rage for trims and a bunch of hippy Boho bobbles will boost anything.

What you’re looking for is better protection, more skin care and zip fuss. Do yourself a favour, before you hit the sun, slap on the sunscreen. Nivea Sun Protect and Moisture Moisturising Sun Spray SPF 50+, R174.99, is a must for super surfers, girl gogglers, mermaids and beach babes as it’s very easy to apply with the spray. to encourage your children to live up to their potential
No one said being a parent was easy. It doesn’t come with an instruction book. One minute you are footloose and fancy free; the next moment you have the responsibility of nurturing your precious child. As one parent put it, ‘Do they ever stop needing you?’ Involved, loving, supportive parenting pays off by creating a happier, more confident child who is more likely to live up to their potential. Follow these tips on how parents can encourage their children to live up to their full potential academically, in the fields that interest and accommodate them best.
1. Recognise your child’s uniqueness
Parents tend to expect too much. Rather give your children the space to try different activities and to explore various careers in order to discover the best fit for them. Support their choice – one child may excel in mathematics, while another may prefer languages and debate.
2. Attend career fairs and pay for extra lessons
Attend career fairs to establish what career options are open to your child. This is an important step in helping your child determine the best subject choices in Grade 9, as certain careers require you to take specific subjects at school.
3. Discipline starts with young children
It is too late to introduce discipline when children are teenagers; they are already rebellious by then! Provide clear boundaries for acceptable behaviour and help them to take responsibility. If they want special presents, make them earn it – with good grades and chores around the house.
4. Save
Save what you can towards your child’s education. The earlier you start, the better. Every bit helps.
5. Pay for extra lessons
If you cannot afford to send your child to university, save to pay for extra lessons. This is money well spent, as their marks will improve, and as will their chances of securing a bursary.
6. Love and appreciate them
It all comes down to love. Encourage and appreciate them.

The two teams won both their quarterfinals and semi-finals. The finals waited for both teams and you could smell the excitement in the air, not only from the two teams but also from the whole school and parents.
This is the first time in Curro Hazeldean’s history that we won a league, and that makes it special. What makes it even more special is that our school will be 10 years old next year. All our teams will move one up to the B1 league. That was the coaches’ goal before the season started and we achieved that goal.
Thank you to Dr Rheeders and the management team for the opportunity to let our teams compete against the best.
Melene Badenhorst, Dr Rheeders (hoof: Curro Hazeldean Laerskool), mnr. Snyman (hoof: Laerskool Garsfontein) en Leane Faure.
Gospel Revue 2016 in Conjuction with Onbeskaamd The first word that comes to mind is ‘humbleness’. After an event like this, with all the dreaming, planning, hours of hard work, practice, we believe we can only feel humble for what has been accomplished. We wanted to create an event where we could involve all our learners and touch people’s lives through worshipping the Lord’s name. You could hear children humming and singing these Gospel songs for weeks on end. We are so proud of each and every one who took part in this year’s Gospel Revue.
The Bad News Network has been declared redundant and we are forced to admit that optimism has won.

“From tiny seed grow mighty trees” As we approach the end of the year, it is wonderful to see just how much our Early Learning School children have grown over the course of the year. The growth is not only physical (although they have undoubtedly outgrown last year’s shoes!), but more importantly, they have grown emotionally and socially and acquired a multitude of new skills throughout the year. This week the Stage 5s started to get ready to embark on the next phase of their educational journey – the transition to “big school”! On Tuesday, 8 November they celebrated their graduation and there was much excitement during the week as they
prepared for this special milestone. There was hardly a dry eye in the hall as the little ones started their procession down the aisle holding their candles. They recited the poem One hundred languages of children by Loris Malaguzzi, founder of the Reggio Emilio educational philosophy, which underpins our teaching at the Reddford House Early Learning School. They proudly sang their Grade 1 song and then received their certificates form Headmaster, Mr Moses, and Managing Director, Ronel Burger.
