MAIN CLASSROOM BUILDING The Miami Street School, was built and designed by William H. Hollenberger in a Gothic Revival style and completed in 1884 during a building boom in Tif in. It’s steeped gables, bold details, and strong vertical lines were a harbinger of the Collegiate Gothic movement that would later de ine collegiate architecture in the United States. Tif in University purchased the abandoned school on September 28, 1956, for $12,200 from the board, only $10,000 more than the board paid for the land seventy-two years earlier. This purchase of a historic building set in motion a modern campus. It is called Main or the Main Classroom Building today and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History notes from Onward to the Dawn, A History of Tif in University, by Michael Grandillo.

The event, sponsored by the Central Ohio Information Systems Security Association, began on March 29 and ended on March 30. During the irst day, Tif in University Students heard from Frank Abagnale (the man on which the movie “Catch Me if You Can” is based upon). Mr. Abagnale discussed his life in the morning Keynote Session and then presented a fraud seminar entitled: “The Art of the Steal”, in which he discussed how information was and is compromised. Students were able to attend seminars throughout the two -day event ranging from such topics as threat modeling to incident response. This provided the students with an opportunity to real world problems from a professionals’ point of view. Perhaps the most important seminar for the students was the Meet and Greet hosted by employers and recruiters on
Wednesday morning. Students met with employers and recruiters to discuss job opportunities, internships, and resumes. The employers and recruiters were very impressed with the Tif in University students’ knowledge and engagement. “Our students were very impressed with the Central Ohio ISSA Information Security Summit. The interaction with professionals in the ield reinforced what they had learned in the classroom. I was very proud of the positive feedback I received about our students from employers, recruiters, and vendors. Exposing students to these kinds of events allows Tif in University to maintain its professional focus and prepare students for direct entry into the cyber security ield.” Blough Stated.

Men's Tennis The Tif in University Tennis team competed against the Wayne State Warriors on Sunday, with the Dragons falling 7-2. Doubles 1st Doubles was the lone match that didn't go into a tie breaker as the Dragons dropped their inal serve to fall 7-9. The pairing of Lu-
dena/Cutting played a fantastic match against one of the better performing doubles teams in the conference and played them tough until their inal serve. 2nd Doubles was the lone doubles victory as the two captains played some of their best tennis all season. The Dragons had an early break to go up 41, but quickly relinquished the lead. The two teams stayed on serve all match and went into a inal tiebreaker. The Dragons had 3 match points and converted on the inal point to win a nail biter 9-8. 3rd Doubles was a heartbreaker for the Dragons as they fell in a tiebreaker. Sports News continued dena has a tough match no matter who the Dragons play and that was doubly true against the Warriors. Ludena had a few chances late in the match to push the match into a 3rd set as he was up 5-3 in the tiebreaker, but fell as the 5th point in the Warriors victory. 2nd Singles was as much of a heartbreaker as a match can get. TU's Lezama fell in straight sets 6-7, 6-7 as the Dragon's 2nd singles player couldn't catch a break. Lezama played incredibly tough and had few unforced errors, but on Sunday the Warriors just had his number at the end of the day. 3rd Singles found TU's Cutting falling in straight sets 4-6, 1-6. The irst set was decided by a lone break of serve and it was all downhill from there. 4th Singles was another tough match decided by a lone break of serve both times as TU's Mangone fell 4-6, 3-6 in the 4th point for the Warriors on Sunday. 5th Singles was TU's lone singles victory as
Kopronica was leading 3-1 until the Warriors retired. 6th Singles was a heart break for the Dragons. TU's senior captain Victor Fernandes fell 4-6, 7-5, 12-14 in a marathon match in front of the Dragon fans on Sunday. Fernandes was able to bring the match back to 5-5 and continued his ferocious net play to get the match into a tiebreaker. It was in the inal tiebreaker that neither player budged until a cross court winner set the Warriors up 13-12 and a inal volley put it away for them.
Women's Lacrosse The Tif in University women's lacrosse team traveled to Allendale, Michigan on Friday, tangling with the Grand Valley State Lakers. The Lakers held a slight lead at the half, and were able to hold off a feverish TU comeback late, beating the Dragons 13-10. The Dragons scored irst, as Emily Roussel struck three minutes into the contest to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead. The Lakers responded with three straight goals to regain control.
TU pulled a point closer with a Morgan Sherley strike with 23:26 remaining. Every Dragon goal was countered with at least one for the Lakers for the remainder of the half, as GVSU held a 8-6 advantage at the break. After the intermission, the Lakers quickly added two more goals to put the Dragons in a 10 -6 hole. Emily Roussel was the offense for the Dragons in the 2nd half, scoring all four Tif in goals in the half, accounting for 6 of the 10 total Dragon goals. Roussel singlehandedly pulled the Dragons within striking distance late, scoring three goals in in the inal ive minutes, but it was too little, too late as the Lakers held on to defeat the Dragons 1310. Grand Valley held a 3228 advantage in shots and an 11-9 lead in saves. The Dragons did a nice job controlling the draw, swiping 14 draw controls to the Lakers 11.
