Class of 1966 Makes Donation to School The class of 1966 made a very generous donation of $500 to West Blocton High School to be used for purchasing new student desks. The donation was made in memory of Mrs. Nell Quinn Moon, a former WBHS librarian, and in honor of Mrs.
Myrtle Jones, one of our former WBHS counselor. Thank you, Class of 1966! The class of 1966 was well represented at our homecoming pre-game Alumni Walk Out.

Recipe of the Week Staff Writer Tristyn Rowe
This week’s recipe is based on one of our student’s favorite foods. Tori Pierson said her favorite food was Chicken and Dumplings, well Tori here is a recipe I think you might like to try.
Ingredients: ½ tsp Poultry seasoning
Step 2: Set cut up biscuits on a cookie sheet and keep them separated. Place in refrigerator.
1 32oz box Chicken stock
Step 4: In a large pot, combine chicken stock, cream of chicken soup and milk, whisking together until soup is dissolved.
1 can Cream of chicken soup
Add poultry seasoning and black pepper.
½ tsp Black pepper
Step 5: Bring to full boil and then add butter; reducing to heat to medium so that the liquid continues to simmer,
1 Rotisserie chicken
¼ cup Flour 2 small cans Pillsbury buttermilk biscuits ½ stick Butter 2 ¼ cups Milk ¼ cup flour ¾ cup of milk Step 1: Remove all chicken from bones and dice or shred. Set chicken aside. Roll each biscuit between your hand forming a long cube; then cut into ½” (half inch) pieces.
not boil. When the butter has melted, start dropping the biscuits into the boiling liquid. Stir occasionally reducing heat to medium or low. Step 6: Once all biscuits have been added to the liquid, let them boil lightly as you prepare a thickener. To make a thickener, combine ¼ cup of flour and ¾ cup of milk and stir thoroughly together. Step 7: Slowly add thickener to the liquid and biscuits while stirring constantly. This will slightly thicken the liquid. Once liquid begins to thicken, add diced/ shredded chicken. Let this mixture cook covered, for approximately 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Step 8: When biscuits are no longer doughy but firm, it is ready to be served and enjoyed,.
Who do you know? Staff writer: Michael Evans I talked with Coach Cross. He's the history teacher for the 10th grade. Cross has a Bachelor’s Degree in science at the University of Alabama. He has, also, taught at McAdory and Collins Riverside Middle. He has taught for 6 years. Out of those 6 years, he has taught at Blocton for 5 years. He's the head varsity head coach for Baseball and assistant varsity football coach. He
went to Priceville High. He says he loves teaching and being around students and trying to get them to fall in love with history is a daily challenge that he enjoys.
This week I talked to Logan Brewster, and he's an Alabama fan. He started playing football at age 5. Logan went to St. Claire High School before he came to Blocton. He's 5'11, 16 years of age and in 10th grade. He's on a Technical diploma track and plans on going to Auburn for aviation.

“If
you could change the school menu for one day, what would you pick and why?” Jake Lee: I would pick Taco Bell, because they have great food! Jacob Kerr: I would pick McDonalds, because it is not wheat food!
Alex Corbell: I am just excited about the senior picnic, because I already know the menu. Amanda Brand: I am enjoying hanging out with my friends and making my senior year worth it!

Outdoor Entertainments
Corey Terry “Taking you outside into the fun!”
I spoke with Lindsay Meadows this week and got her take on hunting and outdoor fun. When Lindsay was younger, she was always outside and now she’s in the woods! With it being deer season, she’s ready for the hunt once more. I asked her what was the biggest deer she’d ever killed, and she told me her biggest kill was a 10 point buck!
I asked what her favorite gun was, and I forgot what she said. Gun season is just around the corner, and I can’t wait! This year I’m after this big buck I call “beast” because I can’t seem to get him. He’s a 12 point that always seems to know when I’m coming, and I’m going to get him this time! Wish me luck and I’ll see you next week! Staff Secret:
Tyler Blackman bagged a large turkey last season.

Check Out These Students’ Work! Great Job, Miguel Velazque and Tori Pierson! Thank you Mrs. Hubbard for submitting these “Black Out” Poems. The poem on the left reads: “She will remember that she could not sleep, Our dreams was her blanket.”
The poem on the right reads: “Monsters in Us… The girl was silent, tears ran down her dirty cheeks, help she murmured. We should Run. There is nowhere to run. We are Monsters. Tattooed in her memories, as bad as she feared.
