School Pictures September 20

Coming back to school after a blissful two months of freedom is never fun, but it can definitely be made better by a few things, and that list absolutely includes dogs. Check out the completely adorable canine that showed up to be the WBHS greeter!!

The beginning of the 2018-2019 school year came and went without a hitch, and, now that the end of August is approaching, it’s time for a look back at this past month. Here at WBHS we were joined by a new class of students, our freshman, and we’ll be getting an inside look at how they’re doing as the year progresses with our Freshman Question (page 4). We were also joined by two new teachers who have fit seamlessly into our WBHS family, and a more personal look at these additions can be found on page 2. The 2018-2019 football season has also started, as have the first annual Spirit Wars (page 3). The Tiger Times is your one stop shop for all things West Blocton High School. So keep an eye out for our next addition, and, in the meantime, have a great year!

Coach Tinker is enjoying his change of school. He says “The kids are great, it feels like a family. Coach tinker loves tattoos, coaching baseball, and having a good time in class while making sure his students are learning. He feels like coaching is his passion and brings it into the classroom. Although his first priority is his son Easton.

Tiger Pride The 2018-2019 football season kick off came on August 23, as the West Blocton Tigers faced off against the Brookwood Panthers. The Tigers fought hard and scored their first touchdown of the game in the second half. Although the Panthers won 13-8, the Tigers made a good show, and Tiger fans can’t wait to cheer them on against Pleasant Grove!

Football players, cheerleaders and coaches alike stand arm in arm for the West Blocton High School Alma Mater.

Spirit Wars At each of our five pep rallies, the four grades will compete for the Spirit Stick. Each win will count for 100 points, and the grade with the most points at the end will be the winner of the first ever Annual Spirit Wars. The distribution of points will be recorded on the Spirit Meter! 500 400 300 200 100 0 Freshmen

“It’s really stressful and too much and that’s not what I thought [it would be like]. It’s harder than I expected. “ - Breland Wood It’s really not that hard. It’s getting me ready for life. That’s all it is...just life.” - Austin Battles
