Tatonka Stealth Review

Tatonka have been making packs and luggage for over 30 years; along that journey there have been refinements, ranges have grown, and new markets sought. As the world has evolved, so too has users demands of what they need from a pack. Kiwi hunters have been instrumental in the research and development of the new Stealth range. These packs have been designed with stalking in mind. The new soft fabric cuts down on noise when moving through dense bush and undergrowth. The packs are large enough to fit all the essentials, but not so large that they get in the way.

The range comes in three sizes: 35 + 10 litre, 30 litre and 20 litre. Each pack is designed to be lightweight, strong and comfortable. After several trips out in the New Zealand bush Tim Barnett from The Hunters Club has managed to put the pack through its paces and plans on throwing a little more abuse its way. Have a read of what he had to say about it.

“I recently got to put the Tatonka Stealth pack to use on a pig hunting mission in some rugged alpine country in Kaikoura, which involved a lot of bashing through thick scrub, matagouri and rosehip. The pack handled the nasty weather well, and had more than enough space for the various things I require when pig hunting - first aid kit, spare food, water, ammo, wet weathers etc. Thanks to the belt strap, it sat well on my back even with a 135lb boar over my shoulders. Although being stealthy wasn't particular important for this type of hunting, I imagine that the brushed outer would make a huge difference in tight country when stalking deer. All up, it's a great day bag and one that certainly feels like it's capable of taking an absolute beating, and I'm sure that's what I'll be giving it over the coming years!”
