Lexus’ company value heavily inspired my design. During an interview with Mr. Kiyotaka Ise, he pointed out that all Lexus cars share same values. Lexus not only want their product to be refined, practical and luxurious, but also to have the ability to bring emotional user experience (driving pleasure). On top of that, Lexus is adding instant visual recognition to their elegant design to separate itself from the market.

Everyone needs silverwares to eat. My product, like Lexus, is targeting people in the higher class. Polished stainless steel and a transparent end create a subtle but luxurious feeling with an instant focal point. The dimensions of the silverwares are slightly smaller than regular ones so they’re more suitable for delicate things like afternoon tea.

The theme for my design is nimble, rhythm and playful. The tip of each component is slim with an aerodynamic curve. It gets ticker as it goes, then vanishes in the end since it’s made out of a transparent material. My design resembles a sleek, fast-going sport car, which gives people a nimble impression. The curves (edge of the spoon, knife and the side of the fork) create a harmonic rhythm and an interesting balance with the angled cut on the end. Lastly the change of material makes the entire product lighter and more playful.
