He has been a full time auctioneer since graduating and became an owner of Valley Auction Ltd in 1977, a family owned and operated business since 1964. Selling 2-3 auction sales per week on average, Don is also an avid horseman, who concentrates on Vaquero or Californian style horsemanship, and has sold his horses at the Calgary Bull Sale consistently in the top two, winning the high selling horse in 2008. When not auctioneering, Don is working his many horses at home in the Okanagan Valley.

Chairman’s Message 2010 is the 16th annual Fall Classic Breeders’ Sale, North America’s premiere Warmblood horse sale. This year’s consignment is the most pedigree packed sale yet. Breeders have consigned horses from hard to get sires like Contender, so sought after in Europe; Concetto, international Danish Grand Prix horse; Lupicor, international sire for show jumpers; dressage stars Quaterback and Londonderry, plus many more. In addition, the offspring of some of the up and coming young Europeon sires such as Wilton, Count Grannus and Royal Blend, dam sires such as Judgement and Ferro, and grandsires like top Dutch sire Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve, Haarlem, and Corland are all represented at this sale. Many of the dam lines have produced horses that have competed successfully in the North American show ring for both the amateur and professional. The Fall Classic Breeders’ Sale has produced many successful show horses in the past including Travolta, winning Intermediare dressage; Julio, winning 1.20 meter derbies; Surfer Girl, top young horse 3-day competitor; many winners of USDF awards; and successes in the hunter ring like Galaxy II, winning 4 year-old performance futurities. Top professionals like Tom Gayford and Leslie Reid have seen the quality and taken top prospects from past sales. If you are looking for a future prospect, a ready to show amateur mount, a broodmare, or an excellent foal to raise, then come join us October 16 & 17 in Olds, Alberta, just an hour north of the international airport in Calgary. If you can’t come in person the sale does allow on-line bidding, as well as phone bidding. For your convenience, the October 16 previews will be streaming live from 9:00 am showing all the horses under saddle, in the chute and in hand. Don’t pass this sale by. Great opportunities only come once a year. Sale Chairman, Jennette Coote

Export Regulations All owners, trainers, competitors and riders intending to take horses to the United States should be aware that there are now two sets of revised U.S. import requirements that may impact the ease with which horses cross the border from Canada to the United States. New regulations are now in effect, implementing the US Trade Act of 2002, and the Public Health Security and Bio-terrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002. These regulations require pre-filing of customs documents in advance of border crossing at a U.S. port-of-entry. For more information concerning this topic, please visit: • www.fallclassicsale.com and choose Export Regulations from the sale information menu. • http://www.equinecanada.ca/ ~ 26 ~

“Grace” Limited Edition Watercolour Print

Lot 0

By Ingrid Kostron

24” x 36” Oil on Canvas

This limited edition watercolour print by Ingrid Kostron embodies the beauty and majesty of the Warmblood Horse. The artwork used for the Fall Classic Breeders’ Sale poster and catalogue cover is offered as the first lot at the sale. The print is framed and ready for hanging. Artist: Ingrid Kostron “I’m an artist... I express myself by painting horses.” My first love is watercolour and water based media. I work with the best pigments and papers available all the time as very often what I think is going to just be a quick sketch or working sketch for a final painting, turns out to be something special. I have exhibited in Canada, the United States and Europe and believe that art is something that should be available to everyone, not just those who can afford original works, so my paintings are published as limited edition prints. Using these same images I have created a successful line of stationery products and gift items for sale in stores in the United States and Canada. My product lines are the most important aspect of my company as they enhance the lives of people by adding beautiful art to their lives on everyday items such as calendars, memo pads and bookmarks, my line of note cards allows people to keep in touch and share their thoughts and feelings with images that are special to them. I also accept commissions for both illustrative and complete commissions in graphite and watercolour. I am very happy as by doing what I love, I am “keeping people in touch with horses”.

Sire: RECRUUT was champion of his 100 day test, with a 10 for free jumping, a 10 for his character and 9.5 for jumping under saddle. His sire MARCO POLO is a name that we speak of with respect. This ‘preferent’ stallion has, like no other, placed his stamp on the Dutch Warmblood horses in breeding and sport. He sired 11 approved sons. RECRUUT himself was jumping internationally under Paul Weier. His offspring are known for their superior movement and strong jumping technique, Not only does RECRUUT pass on his great character, but also his beauty. Dam: KARYN’S JOY is out of a foundation mare, who has proven herself as a broodmare numerous times. Her offspring show tremendous jumping scope and skills. KARYN goes back to PRECIPITATION, who is the sire of FURIOSO. We also find big names like SILVEYVILLE, BLADE, TIM TAM, PETRONE and JOHN’S JOY in her pedigree. Notes: AVA III has proven to be a very good broodmare, producing two lovely foals, both with fantastic dispositions. AVA is easy to handle and work with, like her foals. As she has been busy being a mother, she is not yet ready to ride, but is likely to be uncomplicated to start. She has been shown in hand a number of times and hauls, clips, and gets her feet done with no difficulty at all. She is in foal to REGARDEZ (REGGAZONI x FRUHLINGSBALL), a wonderful stallion who is a champion hunter currently showing with Rodney Tulloch. REGARDEZ most recently won the Hunter Derby at the Anderson Ranch for the second year in a row. His talents are not limited to the hunter ring, as he placed 3rd in dressage at his 100-day test in Oldenburg. He can be seen at www.creeksidefarm.ca. ~ 40 ~

Notes: GO FOR GOLD (Goldie) seems to have it all: tall, correct conformation and gaits, and a wonderfully receptive mind. She was started under saddle last year and with two months work, she showed very steady and straight gaits, with lots of freedom in the shoulder. This year she has continued training with the focus on dressage and, at her first show, scored a 66.4%, and was Reserve Champion FEI Young Horse. At the next gold show, she was always in the ribbons with five first places and scores at 75% plus. At a recent dressage clinic, she received the following comment “excellent work ethic... definitely a great amature horse.” A few days later, another trainer watched her jump and declared that she is a jumper. ~ 58 ~

Sire: WILTON caused a stir at his performance test and impressed with great elasticity and a lot of jumping ability. This versatile, elastic bay colt was in the lead with a winning total index of 134.7. He was first overall, first in the jumping section and 5th in the dressage phase. He was the only one to receive a 9 for his jumping, 8.25 for temperament, 8 in canter and 8 for rideability. This is the fourth son of NOW OR NEVER that Celle now stands and only available in North America through frozen semen. Dam: LATTE III is a very nice Canadian Warmblood mare that is also a granddaughter of LANDGRAF I. Her career has been limited to a broodmare because of an injury as a foal. The inspector’s comments at her inspection were great hind end movement, and lovely head neck and top-line. Notes: WII-GRAND PRIX is tall, feminine, and has loads of talent. This mare was bred more towards the jumping disciplines but her movement and mind make her a prospect that won’t disappoint any ambitions. She has a great ground covering walk and smooth effortless transitions into all three gaits.

Sire: ZAPATERO is an imported Dutch Warmblood stallion. He is approved by the CWHBA. ZAPATERO started his jumping show career as a 4 yr old, winning the 4 yr old jumping divisions at Northlands and Rocky Mountain Show Jumping. He also won the 3 bar competition at the Fall Classic Sale in Olds as a 4 yr old, jumping 1.55m. As a 5 yr old, he again did very well in the young horse development classes and also started at Spruce Meadows. This year as a 6 yr old, he is competing in the 1.20m classes in California and the A circuit in Alberta. ZAPATERO’s most valuable asset, besides his jumping athleticism, is his “cool and courageous” mind. Nothing upsets him in or out of the show ring. ZAPATERO is by TANGELO VAN DE ZUUTHOEVE, a top jumping indexed stallion in the Netherlands. TANGELO jumped internationally with Roelof Bril. TANGELO is a young stallion with 2 sons already licensed for breeding. ZAPATERO’s dam, JENDELIN, is by the world famous jumper and sire VOLTAIRE. Dam: KVS ALLEGRO is a CWHBA main mare book mare. She is by JUSTICE, an imported Dutch Warmblood stallion. JUSTICE is approved by CWHBA and ISR/Oldenburg NA. JUSTICE is by the legendary Olympic dressage stallion COCKTAIL. JUSTICE also has good jumping breeding through PURIOSO and WOLFGANG. ALLEGRO’s dam is by KANADOR, a Dutch Warmblood stallion who competed in the jumper ring in Canada and the USA. Notes: KVS DAMARA is a very flashy 2 year old Canadian Warmblood filly with “lots of chrome” and a kind, willing mind. Her trainable mind and athletic ability should make her a great sport horse prospect in any show ring. KVS DAMARA should mature to 16.2 hh. ~ 62 ~

Out of his first crop of foals, there is already one licensed son and one offspring who achieved best German Horse, World Championships, Young Jumping Horses at Lanaken 2004. Dam: GEZZABELLE has been a consistent producer of successful show ring competitors. She passes on her lovely temperament, elastic movement and strong topline to her foals. Her daughter, VOLYA FF, was the 2006 Western Region Dressage FEI 5 Year Old Champion and has started her jumping career successfully. VERRAH FF is competing in 2nd level dressage at the national level. Versatility has been the key factor to the success of her offspring. Notes: PAVLO FF is a handsome fellow that will be sure to attract the judge’s eye. Already 16.2 hh, he’ll easily mature at 17 hh or more. PAVLO shows fluid movement and cat-like agility for any discipline. He has great ground manners, stands quietly for the farrier and ties and loads well. Don’t miss out on this one. Sire: LONDONDERRY was winner of his stallion licensing in 1997. In 1998 he was 5th at the Stallion Performance Test with a score of 134.56 in the dressage category. In 1999 we saw him win the Riding Horse Performance test in Verdan. Shortly after he managed to receive the highest results at the Federal Championship of German Riding Horses in Warendorf. His sire, LAURIES CRUSADER, was Stallion of the Year in 2006 and, quoted from The Hanoverian #4/2009, “LAURIES CRUSADER is the most important Thoroughbred stallion in the Hanoverian breed”. Dam: BONISSIMO was trained by Angie Golley as a 3 year old and then went to the Olds College program. At four she was bred to LONDONDERRY. As JW Equine writes, “Although laden with dressage blood, this sire line is not devoid of jumping talent. The Olympic silver medallist, DEISTER, hails from the same sire line, as does DAYDREAM, who was Margie Goldstein-Engle’s Grand Prix jumper”. BONISSIMO’s dam, FALOU, is a descendant of LEMGO/LANDGRAF I and WEDEKIND. WEDEKIND sired 23 licensed stallions in Germany and is one of only three predominant sires to carry on the famous jumping line of FERDINAND. Notes: SIR ISAAC WATTS (Izzy) has a wonderful disposition, relaxed and gentle. He has had a little training - saddled and bridled and very gentle walk, trot. He won champion at the Northern Breeders’ Show as a foal, competing against about 32 horses from foals to 2 year olds. He is futurity nominated and an outstanding prospect. Izzy is ready to go!

Sire: WONDERLAND, by WELTMEYER. What more can be said about WELTMEYER? He is a legend. He was the 1986 winner of the stallion licensing in Verden, and the 1987 winner of the stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf. In the same year, WELTMEYER also won the 3 year old stallions classification at the Federal Championships of German Riding Horses in Warendorf. In 1988 he was honoured in Verden as best stallion of his age group and awarded the “Freiherr von Stenglin-Prize”. Last but not least, he became “Hanoverian Stallion of the Year” in 1998. As of today, WELTMEYER has produced 70 licensed sons, all of them excellent stallions. Dam: AVENITA carries the lineage of LAURIES CRUSADOR who was the Hanoverian stallion of the year in 2006. LAURIES CRUSADOR’s career as a breeding stallion exceeded all expectations. In 1993 his son, LANCIER, was purchased by the state stud at the ‘first lot’ and he is still based at the Dorum breeding station. In 1994, six of his sons were licensed, including LONGCHAMP who was purchased by the state stud. LONGCHAMP was an easy winner of the dressage section of his performance test, and was reserve champion at the Bundeschampionate in 1995. Since then, LONGCHAMP has progressed to S level dressage with his rider, Wolfhard Witte. Notes: WYNITA is a very attractive young filly with plenty of personality. She was lightly backed last fall and was left to mature over the winter. At sale time she will have had 5 months under saddle. WYNITA is showing potential as a hunter and seems to enjoy jumping. She is rapidly improving her technique through the jump chute and has just started working on jumping under saddle over cavalletti and small cross rails. Levi is currently doing walk, trot, canter, changes, and is to be started over fences by the time of the sale. He is a solid boned gelding who should mature to around 16.3 hands high. ~ 117 ~
