2013Crew Member About Me I am a local boy from Myrtle Creek; I graduated from South Umpqua High in 1990. In high school is when I really was introduced to photography, and fell in love. The spring of my senior year I enrolled in the Delayed Entry Program for the Navy. In January of 1991, I went to Basic Training in San Diego. I was set to see the world for 4 years get out and use my GI Bill to go to college. Well, a wonderful life developed. I met my wife Jesi and we were married in August of 1994. Our first son was born in 1997 and that is when my passion for photography took a different turn.
I was no
longer interested, as much, in capturing the beauty of the outside world. I began to want to capture images that meant something more. Documenting pieces of time for me and for others. Capturing expressions, emotions in people were a focus for me. Time went on, my skills become better and better. And in 2005, my second son was born and it was amazing. However, the military likes to do things to the needs of the military and sometimes is not interested in the family as much. In 2005, we sold our home in San Diego, and were forced to re-locate. We knew that to reach our long-term goals changes had to be made. My wife and I decided to buy a home in Roseburg and I would finish out my 5 years until retirement in Bremerton, WA. As if that was not enough, I would be stationed on a forward deployed aircraft carrier, the USS John C Stennis. But what this did was allow my wife to finish nursing school and me to photograph all over the world. Dubai, Jakarta, Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea just to name a few. Which was pretty cool….. Fast forward to today, one year after I retired. We are all back together in the house we bought in 2005. My oldest son is a freshman at RHS and my little guy starts first grade at St. Paul Lutheran School in the fall. My wife is a RN at Mercy Medical Center. I am a student at Northwest Christian University and will finish my MBA in June of 2013. I am a member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Wedding and Portrait Photography International (WPPI) and a member of Senior Portrait Artist (SPA). I attend seminars/ webinars and other educational events through these organizations at least monthly. Education and family are priorities of mine My son that was just an infant when I left, for the ship, was quickly becoming a little boy and those memories that I lost are gone forever. Those travels, and being away from my family made me appreciate my life and family that much more. Family is paramount, time is the new currency and as a parent that bank account seems to get less and less every day… We must cherish the time we have together capture those memories. I don’t care if I am your photographer or you choose to have someone else document your story but please take those photos, capture those videos, because you never know what tomorrow brings.

What to expect After your session, we will schedule your viewing/ordering appointment. Which is normally 7-10 days after the session. This is the one and only ordering appointment for discounted collection rates. At your viewing appointment it is important to have all the decision makers present. As a convenience to the family these session can be held in their home or mine. I have found that thes are best in a relaxed environment. I am not a sales person. I am an order taker, I will give advice on images for certain applications but I am just a tour guide that takes your order. After the ordering appointment and a deposit or full payment for products your your order will be placed. Once the order is placed allow 3-6 weeks for your order to be complete. This depends on the type of products you select and the level of customization. When your order arrives we will schedule a time to review your order and ensure you are 100% satisfied with your order. If you are not we will fix it at that time..

2013Crew Member FAQs
Q1: What all can we get with the points we have is everything pretty much covered or are we going to have to pay? A1: You points are earned throughout the 2013 crew program; the program begins 1 February- 31January. Your points are earned in various ways and I will tell you when opportunities exist to earn more points. Points/credits are all the same they are used to buy products through TBP. I work with some of the top photo labs to get the coolest products, photo license plates, canvas gallery wraps, mini albums, cluster gallery wraps, custom graduation announcements, large metal prints. There are so many possibilities. Q2: Is everything pretty much covered or are we going to have to pay? A1: With the program you will receive a 200.00 print credit. That will be an adequate package/collection for some, but I encourage you to get out and promote to earn more credits. In a nutshell, the more people you refer, the more benefits you get. Q3: How many shoots are we going to get...any our senior year at all or just junior? A1: As a member of the Crew, you are required to be involved in a minimum of 3 photo shoots throughout the program length. One of which, will be a group session. Keep in mind these are minimums. I am always thinking of new ideas to shoot and try so I may ask for volunteers throughout. These would of course mean more points for you. Typically, we will do our promotional shooting in March and the beginning of April and then we will begin scheduling your individual sessions. Of course as Crewmembers you will also receive the free family session. I am very flexible about when we do things after the promotional shooting, so don’t stress about that‌ e memories... Memories are re-enforced when you see the images... Locked up in a DVD/CD, who sees that...?

Q4: Will we get our photos on a cd at all? A4: You will get a ton of images digitally.... Through facebook, the website and the blog... However, the DVD/CD is an option that would come out of whatever print credits you have accumulated. Because, those images will all be high resolution images... and can be printed anywhere... And that is what as a professional I have an issue with... I trust the professional labs I work with to get my prints done right, with the correct color balance and quality that I expect from my images. I used to have prints done at Walmart and Costco and the like. What I have found is that you are unable to control the quality. The person running the printing process has never been trained in color calibration, image resolution or what DPI means. I can guarantee the professional labs have. They know how to look at prints and what colors are right and which ones are not right. I love my images printed and displayed, not locked up in a DVD or CD that could possibly be as outdated as CDs or cassette tapes in 10 years. Prints and other products stand the test of time. I love to create memories... Memories are re-enforced when you see the images... Locked up in a DVD/CD, who sees that...? In addition, as a professional artist, I feel the high res images are like old school negatives... No one ever thought of asking for the negatives an artist created... However, in today’s digital world I do realize that people like to have those files available in digital form... And as part of the Crew the DVD will me made available at 60% off. You will also be provided a copy of the videos the Crew creates free of charge.
2013Crew Member Thank you
Thank you for allowing me to give you an insight into TBP and the Crew model program. I take the experience you have at TBP very seriously. My vision of the model program is to assemble a fun, interactive, energetic, enthusiastic group of teens that are leaders and innovators. Through this group we will take my skills and their creativity in a collaborative venture and create some of the most exciting images you will see in high school photography. I will not be able to do this alone, I will need parent involvement all along the way. Sincerely,
