Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 2013 Proof of Performance
Introduction
Baseball has been a constant in Appleton since 1891 and has seen many different incarnations throughout the years. In 1995, the team moved into their brand new stadium and, at the same time, re-branded themselves as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Since that time, the Timber Rattlers have become one of the top Minor League teams in the entire country. In 2012, the Timber Rattlers not only won their first Midwest League Championship (fifth in the organization’s history) but were also awarded the prestigious Larry MacPhail Promotional Award from Minor League Baseball, symbolizing the top promotion effort in all of Minor League Baseball. The Larry MacPhail Award is presented to the team that demonstrates outstanding and creative marketing and promotional efforts within its community, its ballpark, and in media and promotional materials. In 2012, President Rob Zerjav was also selected as the Midwest League Executive of the Year. This was the second time Zerjav had been recognized as the league’s top executive. The Timber Rattlers were also recognized in 2012 (marking 16 out of 18 years) as having one of the top selling logos in all of Minor League Baseball. In 2013, Time Warner Cable Field received a $6.2 million facelift which now makes the facility a year-round destination. In addition to hosting 70 Timber Rattlers home games, the NCAA Division III College World Series, the Wisconsin State Baseball Championship, and the annual Green Bay Packers charity softball game, Time Warner Cable Field will now play host to weddings, banquets, meetings, office parties and many additional non-baseball events. With the renovations, Time Warner Cable has become the place to be in the Fox Cities.
