housands gathered throughout the district to remember and pay tribute to our soldiers who served their country in WWI and in other campaigns. The Howick Dawn Service shortly after 6am and the Howick Civic Service at 11am on Stockade Hill on Anzac Day yesterday drew large numbers. Howick Local Board chairman David Collings delivered a speech while Pastor Phil Sproul made a scripture reading and prayer. Howick Brass were to the forefront once again and were drowned out briefly during the touching flypast. Howick College student Ethan McCormick drew much applause for his winning essay - the third time he’s won the right to speak at the service. The laying of wreaths was followed by the traditional march of RSA members and veterans to the RSA clubrooms for refreshments.

After the storm ■■By Nick Krause

■■By Farida Master

T

he Shelly Park family whose house was partially crushed by a massive tree in last Tuesday’s storm are looking for a temporary home. It could take around six months to have the house repaired assuming all works well with their insurance company. In the meantime Lorna and Rob and daughter Bronwyn (20) (the Times has agreed not to publish their surname) are looking for a rental in Howick after spending time with friends in Remuera. Meanwhile the 30-35 metre tree which demolished their living room and a good chunk of the rear deck and side of the house was partially removed by an enormous crane at the weekend. Due to the steep incline of the long and relatively narrow drive, the crane took up a position on their street, Aries Place. “The house is uninhabitable,” Lorna told the Times. “There were three huge chunks of tree (in the house)...the house is virtually buried.” The tree (Times, April 12) came close to claiming Lorna’s life. She spent a night in Middlemore Hospital after suffering bruising and lacerations. She was in the living room when the tree smashed into the house. She described the moment the tree came down. “When the tree hit the house I was hit by something. I feel into a crouch position. When the debris began to fall, it fell around me like an igloo,” she said. “Once the debris had stopped falling I pushed a hole through the igloo. When I stood up the tree was about two or

three feet (60-90cm) from me. “I was in a pile of rubble. The tree had stopped. If the tree had continued I don’t think I’d be talking to you.” Meanwhile she is grateful for not just the lucky escape but the help of family, friends and neighbours. “I’m still recovering from my injuries,” she said. “We’ve got amazing friends who have come to help our daughter get out small precious things, art work, books and small pieces,” Lorna said. “Everything in the house is very wet. “We would like to just thank our neighbours...the neighbourhood is very warm and friendly.”

Pakuranga College principal Michael Williams has been reappointed as president of the Secondary Principals Association of New Zealand (SPANZ) for a second year in a row. The association represents 90 per cent of the secondary principals in New Zealand was formed 30 years ago at a time when secondary school principals were frustrated their voices were not being heard. “Mine was the only nomination, I was closely contested,” smiles Mr Williams, who works seven days a week with 12 hour days since he has been vice president (four years) and president (one year). It is the only independent body representing the views of secondary principals at the policy development and implementation level with Government, Ministry of Education, Education Review Office and Education Council. It’s a demanding job wearing two big hats that represents running a college with a roll of more than 2000 students and regularly whizzing off to Wellington to attend high-powered meetings that initiate educational debate and represents principals in educational and public forums. One of the biggest issues that secondary schools principals are grappling with is the teacher shortage, says Mr Williams. “The salaries and conditions

for teachers are not financially attractive and with the workforce getting older, and the drop-out rate of new teachers increasing to 40 per cent in the last five years, it is getting harder to fill in the gap. “This year was the hardest,” he says about schools having a tough time finding good teachers. “We’ve had to call back teachers from the retired workforce or have had to retrain teachers in subjects like maths or science that they hadn’t trained for earlier. “Some of the schools have also appointed teachers whom they normally wouldn’t, and given them a lot of support from other teachers. “We have a serious problem

and the statistics are pretty scary,” says Mr Williams, who has liaised with three Education Ministers including Hekia Parata, Nikki Kaye and currently with Chris Hipkins. “As more teachers are retiring, there aren’t that many coming into the fold due to the complexity of the job. There’s something wrong in the equation.” He says that working on the upcoming collective salary contract is going to be very interesting. “The secondary schools principals feel that we have to solve the problem with a 20 per cent pay rise for teachers.” Currently Mr Williams is also on the advisory board that works with the newly-appointed Task Force headed by former Pakuranga College principal Bali Haque-to review education in New Zealand. “The Minister for Education is in the process of reviewing Tomorrow’s Schools - all schooling in New Zealand and is keen for us to have a 30-year plan. It will be a cross-party agreement of the direction we will be heading in. “It involves a lot of work starting with two summits in Auckland and Christchurch - a two-day talk fest with a cross-section of researchers, principals, teachers, students and other stakeholders. “There is an online survey to initiate conversations on education— www.conversation.education.govt.nz” .

ong-time Beachlands resident, Dennis Fillet, has joined the team at SO Renovate to help the 10-year old home renovation and building company expand into the East and South-East of Auckland – suburbs he knows and loves well. Dennis brings with him a wealth of experience, having managed his own building business and worked with other top home construction companies. Having worked within the industry for so many years, he understands well the challenges, issues and opportunities, especially when it comes to renovating older homes. He also brings an exceptional eye for detail with his history in cabinet making and the precision work required for super yacht joinery. These experiences now allow him to unlock the potential in homes across the east through SO Renovate – a leader in the field of home renovation, recladding and extensions, as well as new build house construction. Over the last 10 years SO Renovate has helped over 600 Auckland families realise their dream home ideas, and in doing so, built a strong reputation for high quality work - work which is what drew Dennis to the business. SO’s unique end-to-end project delivery process was also a selling factor for Dennis. SO puts a dedicated client manager and site foreman on each project – staff that knows their projects inside out and are there to guide customers through every step, from design to budgeting and on to the

build phase itself. Their aim, along with SO Renovate’s team of over 50 professionals, is to ensure every project is delivered on time and on budget without the stress major projects can often bring. “There’s also great excitement when we get a new project underway. “Our clients are looking forward to realising a dream they may have had for a long time and they’re investing in their home. “It’s really important that the end

result lives up to those expectations and the process to get there is enjoyable for everyone,” says Dennis. SO has also been active in helping homeowners drive value from their sections. Property prices have flattened a little in recent months, by Dennis knows the demand is there and building rapidly. “We are around 9,000 homes short in the Auckland region to meet growing population demand. To recover from this, around 69 development proposals per month

need to be delivered to council. We’re a long way short of that, so demand will only continue to rise.” With this in mind, considering opportunities to add a rentable minor dwelling have becomes a popular option for many with larger sections. With consideration given to access and privacy, these discrete additions can add huge value to the site overall as well as a valuable income stream. OPINION

Community debate at its best Few issues are as controversial as a conscience vote in Parliament involving life and death. A vote which will be difficult for many of the 120 MPs that have to vote on the End of Life Choice Bill again before the end of this year. Earlier this week I hosted a public meeting and debate on this Bill. It’s a proposal that would effectively legalise voluntary euthanasia, or assisted dying. The End of Life Choice Bill has evoked strong opinions in both opposition and support of the ideas it confronts. The Bill, in the name of ACT’s David Seymour, is what we call a conscience issue for Parliament. This means that your local representatives are not bound to vote down political party lines. Instead, it is our job to listen and attempt to reflect the values and positions we believe exist within our communities. Parliament is often said to be at its best when MPs have a free vote. We see well-researched and argued points, delivered with passion and meaning. The shackles of the party whips are dropped, and the normally forgone conclusion of votes disappears. Public debate in the community is also stronger when the public and decision makers are able to come face to face with each other. That’s what we did on Monday. Speaking at the meeting we

With Jami-Lee Ross

had the Bill’s sponsor, David Seymour, speaking in favour of the Bill. My colleague for Helensville, Chris Penk, argued in opposition. In favour of the Bill, it was argued that the current law is unjust and forces people into harmful circumstances that undermine their dignity at the end of their life. Moreover, there were amble safeguards in place in the Bill to ensure that the decision and circumstances where such choices were made were true reflections of the individual making them. In opposition, it was argued that the nature of the choice being made was open to undue influence and coercion. Essentially, that it was very hard to tell whether a good decision was being made and the consequence was irreversible and, in that context, the decision could never have enough safeguards. The 150 or so New Zealanders sitting in the room on Monday will have heard canvassed one of the more challenging topics we will confront this year. It’s one where it’s impossible to please everyone, but I am glad we were able to put on such an event to listen, learn and engage. Jami-Lee Ross, MP for Botany

akuranga local Ranjna Patel ONZM was really excited when she received an invite to the most sought after dinner hosted for former US President Barack Obama at the Viaduct Events Centre on his recent visit to New Zealand. How did I get here, was the first thought that crossed her mind when she was informed that she would be seated at the top level at the event centre along with a select 100 invitees. The rest of the 900 special guests were seated at another level at the invitation-only extravaganza. “I had to leave my husband and son who accompanied me since we were all invited separately. I was seated with (mental health advocate and former All Black) Sir John Kirwan and it was a huge privilege. We were all asked how we would like to be addressed. “There was so much security and we were told that we could take a picture with Mr Obama and have a

minute or two each with him but we were all so tongue-tied,” she laughs. “Obama is just the way you see him on television, very real. “He started his speech saying that he was on a scouting mission for favourable outcome. “We want our grandchildren to be able to take their grandchildren up Stockade Hill to enjoy the views.”

Michelle and his daughters Malia and Sasha to come out to New Zealand. I really do hope that Michelle Obama makes a trip here next year. “I have already spoken to one of the women’s organisations to invite her here. “Obama is all for women’s empowerment. He said that if there were only women leaders of countries around the world for two years, we’d see a lot less conflict and more children out of poverty, and the world would be in a better place.” Talking about the reason why he first took to playing golf, the former US President said that he couldn’t walk anywhere in the open without being crowded or shadowed. “He said he started playing the game only because he wanted to walk in open spaces and the golf course was the only place where he could do it—even if he had security hiding in the bush sometimes.” Topping the talk was an fusion dinner prepared by the internationally renowned Kiwi chef Peter Gordon. 2018 Aon New Zealand Age Group Championships. Tyron Henry starred on the final night of the championships by smashing an age group record in the Boys 16 years 100m freestyle with a time of 51.24, while Ryan Oliver won the Boys 14 years A Final in the 200m Individual Medley. Gustav Campher also won the 200m Backstroke A Final in the Boys 12-13 years age group with a personal best time of 2.19.03.

anzac day

It’s a very special birthday ■■By Therese Henkin

O

n Wednesday, Travis Allan woke up before the crack of dawn. He dressed up warm and headed into Howick with his father to take part in the Anzac Dawn Parade. It’s a routine he knows well – he’s been doing it his whole life. This Anzac Day Travis turned five and he celebrated his birthday as he has done since he was born – attending the Howick Dawn Service at Stockade Hill. It’s a special tradition Travis’ father, Lance Corporal Christopher James Allan holds dear to his heart. Allan served in the New Zealand Army for more than five years and currently serves in the Territorial Force, now known as the Army Reserve. “It’s something we do together as father and son and I love being able to share with him something that is so important to me,” Allan says. “I am raising him to understand the sacrifices that people made and the importance of honouring those soldiers.” Allan says each year is more enjoyable than the last for Travis as his understanding of the purpose behind the parade grows. “I think as he gets older he is able to participate more and ask questions, and hopefully one day he will thank me for sharing this with him from such a young age.”

When Travis is asked if he too wants to be in the army one day, a cheeky grin spreads across his face. “Yes, like Daddy.” he says.

Howick RSA is helping students broaden their knowledge of what Kiwis endured in previous military campaigns. “We were aware that a lot of New Zealand soldiers died in World War I but didn’t know that almost 250,000 men were wounded or lost their lives in the First World War,” said a student leader of Howick Intermediate after recently listening to three war heroes at the Howick RSA. “I had no idea what the Last Post meant,” said a student of Pakuranga Intermediate School. “Now after hearing the war heroes’ talk, I know what the

bugle call really means.” As a way of getting young ones involved with Anzac Day, Howick RSA arranged for three war heroes to share their stories with student leaders from nine local primary and intermediate schools. Students of Pakuranga Heights, Ormiston Primary, Bucklands Beach Primary, Howick Intermediate, Farm Cove, Wakaaranga, Sunny Hills, Somerville Intermediate and Our Lady Star of the Sea listened as Vietnam War hero Barry Dreyer, along with Andrew Lister and President of Howick RSA Mike Cole spoke about the meaning of Anzac Day, Poppy Day, dawn service and threw light on the Last Post, ode and reveille.

They impressed on children the gravity of war. “Every family in New Zealand was affected by post traumatic stress disorder of the First World War,” said Mr Cole. “War is not like they show in the movies-they don’t get up and keep going ...they die. “Anzac Day is not to glorify war but to remind ourselves of the sacrifices made by New Zealand men.” Students of different schools also gathered around Howick RSA’s oldest member, 99-year-old Eric Wilson, a Second World War army veteran, with a sharp mind who could recollect every detail of the war.

Kids had a fun time taking on other fun challenges like the fastest time to type the alphabet backwards on an iPad. The idea behind it was to break

Though no record was broken, some parents were also spotted trying to balance the most number of CDs on one finger – with the current record being 50. Your view Folau and ‘that’ message On Tuesday, April 17, TVNZ reported Israel Folau, internationally famous league player, as saying that all homosexuals would go to hell. How did his comment come about? I wondered how such a comment came to the hearing of the media and why it should be thought worthy of reporting. I have no doubt the situation was orchestrated, however, given the aggressive approach of the LGBT lobby. I am sure that league fans would not have been interested in eliciting his opinion on this. He is famous for football, not as a teacher of religion. Anyone should be able to express a personal opinion, however, especially if asked to, without this kind of

response. The obvious intent in this case was to make ‘capital’ of it. What is the issue here? Freedom of speech or expression of personal belief? The Bible has been around, in its entirety, for 2000 years. All Christians accept it as their authoritative standard of all things pertaining to life and Godliness. It proclaims the message that all are sinners and must be saved from our sins. It tells us, among other things, that practicing homosexuality is sin. Folau is being faithful to his beliefs, as can be expected. Why the sudden ‘shock, horror’ reaction? It is not a new message. What lies behind the media reaction? Harvey Rosieur, Howick

service club

A cyber branch for Howick Lions Club Though the traditional structure of the Howick Lions Club has been working for more than 50 years, to make it easier for those living in a time-poor society, the club is turning to the internet. The club will establish a Howick Cyber Lions Branch Club. This is also to encourage new communities in Flat Bush, Botany and East Tamaki that find it difficult to travel to Howick for meetings to be a part of the Howick Lions Club. “It’s for people who want to help our local communities, but

would prefer to organise activities online and have a greater degree of flexibility,” says Paul Curtis of Howick Lions. “As a member of our Cyber Lions Branch Club you would also be a full member of Howick Lions Club but you would be able to set your own programme and organise your own fund-raising and service projects - while benefiting from the support, legal and financial structure of our traditional club,” he says. ➤➤For more details email: info@howicklions.org.nz

Why the long wait? Re cat found in Whitord (Cat taped up and left for dead, SPCA investigating, Times April 19), as any animal lover would be, I am shocked by this. But why did the people who found it wait three weeks to go to the SPCA? This cat might have been saved had they done that earlier. If they cannot get there, the SPCA can be contacted by phone and will come and get the cat. Helen Cooper, Pakuranga

Prostitution a profession In the last few days apart from the Commonwealth Games, the NZ Herald news was taken up with ‘modern slavery’ or human trafficking in the form of prostitution and exploitation. All thanks to Helen Clark and the then Labour government that legalised prostitution, New Zealand is now a haven for pimps and sex workers. Your reports stated that sex workers enter NZ under all sorts of reasons but the underlying purpose was to use their bodies to make money. While there are those that are being trafficked, there are also those freelance sex workers who come to NZ because prostitution is legal in NZ. With a weekly tax-free income of $1000-$2000, it’s no wonder that sex workers from other parts of the world are beating a hasty track to NZ. And there is no slur on them from their country folks while they are making the ‘big money’ here. The tax-free status is great for these sex workers, but when they

are afflicted with diseases, who pays the bill? Worse to come is, what happens when they pass those diseases onto their unsuspecting clients? Should they get pregnant and want an abortion, again, who pays for the services? The latest news about a mother, Kasmeer Lata (and her partner Avneensh Sehgal) pimping her under-aged daughter is really disgusting. Since prostitution is legal in NZ, even as an illegal immigrant, she should have prostituted herself rather than wreck her daughter’s life! What after her imprisonment – will she be sent back to Fiji and her partner to India? Meanwhile, what happens to the children? Is it also time for this Labour government to undo the horrors that their government created? Margaret Scott, Pakuranga

More targeted rates?

I read with dismay the article written a few weeks ago regarding the proposed $67 targeted food waste bin rate. I am strongly opposed to yet another targeted rate being implemented by our council. Council needs to address the following questions before they just go ahead and load the ratepayers with further rates. Don’t forget they are wanting to introduce a targeted rate for Kauri trees, water rate for cleaning up our streams and rivers, and the transport rate which remains in place albeit for only three years. Of course the petrol tax is also about to hit our pockets. How much more can we be expected to pay out considering our already elevated rates?

SALE 50% off

Regarding these food waste bins: 1) will everyone in Auckland be charged this rate or does it go according to which area you reside in? 2) What about all those who currently compost at home? We attended the council-run composting course years ago where we were encouraged to start composting. We PAID for our Bokashi bins and began breaking down our food waste which has been highly successful and has cut back the amount of rubbish we throw out in our normal bin. Surely we should not have to now pay for something we will not use? 3) How will tenants pay for this? Landlords cannot be expected to foot the bill - user pay system perhaps? Council seems to be doing another about-turn on how they will fund this venture. On their site from an article written in May 2017, they proposed charging for the normal bins as a pay-as-you-throw system and offering the food waste bins for free. Why the sudden change to charging for the food waste bins? Surely we should all be encouraged to recycle and compost. Charging people to do this is not an incentive. If they want to charge us - then go ahead and do so on the normal bins which we have some control over. Of course this in itself will create other problems of illegal dumping etc but that is another issue. Some clarity and honesty from the council would be appreciated before they just go ahead and make decisions with little public consultation and loading the ratepayer yet again. This should be part of our current rates. Lyn Roberts, Howick

t’s been exactly one year since Icy the cat went missing from her home in Pakuranga. Five days before the one year anniversary of her disappearance, Icy and her owner were joyfully reunited with the help of a microchip. “I was so shocked when I received the call. There were a lot of tears shed that day,” says owner, Julie. “I really had given up all hope of ever seeing her again or knowing what happened to her.” Julie says had Icy not been micro-chipped and correctly registered to the New Zealand Companion Animal Register (NZCAR), she believes she never would have seen her again. “I cried so many happy tears and I cannot thank the person who found her enough for doing the right thing and bringing her in to be scanned,” Julie says. Icy was found hanging around a home in Cockle bay. Valerie Lofthouse, who had only recently moved into the property, says she knew such a beautiful cat must belong to somebody and when she didn’t leave after a few days, she knew

nited even after all this time.” And it’s not the first time she has seen micro-chips help owners find lost pets, she says. Last year the Sommerville Veterinary Centre assisted in reuniting another cat owner with their beloved pet after she had been missing for more than two years. “It just goes to show how valuable and important it is to make sure that your pet is micro-chipped in case they are ever lost or stolen.” She says inserting the microchip is relatively inexpensive and non-invasive. But she urges pet owners to remember that getting the microchip is just one part of the puzzle. “Often people forget that they have to register their pet on the NZCAR website, and there’s no use having a micro-chip that when scanned shows that the pet is linked to nobody,” she says. If your pet goes missing, she says, you can also make a note of it on your registration so that if your pet is scanned an alert will immediately pop up. ➤➤For more information on micro-chipping call Sommerville Veterinary Centre 5370111 or visit www.animalregister.co.nz.

our homes today

Is this the solution to KiwiBuild? T

he capacity to build more quality homes is already within New Zealand, instead of overseas, new research from PrefabNZ shows. Instead of shipping in from abroad, the PrefabNZ ‘Capacity & Capability’ report demonstrates that Kiwi-based housing manufacturing firms and construction companies can deliver for KiwiBuild using offsite methods. Through using innovative building methods, PrefabNZ Members say they could deliver around 7,000 more homes each year from 2020. This would deliver 70 per cent of KiwiBuild’s target of 10,000 homes per year over ten years. In fact, manufacturers and builders surveyed by PrefabNZ say they are ready to reinvest around 8 per cent of revenue, and up to 20 per cent in some cases, to deliver KiwiBuild.  “This is astonishing news, said PrefabNZ chief executive Pamela Bell. “New Zealand housing manufacturers and builders are telling us that they are willing to forego some profit in the short term to deliver KiwiBuild. This research is economic proof that our innovative construction industry does not need a big multi-national outsider in order to deliver on the KiwiBuild promise.

“We can have several New Zealand businesses using innovative building methods working together, using home-grown materials and sharing specialist expertise. For example, different companies might make wall panels, or roof pieces or bathroom pods, or any of the elements that go into a building. PrefabNZ board chair Lauren Christie added: “This Capacity & Capability report is well timed to demonstrate the latent capacity and commitment of the innovative construction sector to deliver better homes for Kiwis under the KiwiBuild banner. Mark Farmer, author of the gamechanging United Kingdom report ‘Modernise or Die’ agrees that offsite is an important part of the KiwiBuild solution. His experience in the UK shows how government officials have taken on board the advice he provided in his 2016 report where he showed how 25 per cent of the British construction industry would be gone in the next 10 years as workers retired. A year after the Farmer Review, the British Government committed to prioritising offsite building methods for several Departments, including transport, health, education, justice and defence.

Cleaning the filters on your heat pump or dehumidifier will help achieve a cosier home.

Photo supplied

Beat the cold snap Winter is coming with the first cold snap hitting the country but you can make your home cosier with some simple, quick DIY. EECA Energywise advises prioritising cleaning the filters on your heat pump or dehumidifier so it runs properly. Technical expert Christian Hoerning says heat pump filters should ideally be cleaned every few weeks during winter because they can get clogged. If you own a dehumidifier, run it while you are heating the room. “Dehumidifiers work best in

warm rooms and all the electricity they use gets released as heat - so your heater needs to do less work. If the cold draughts are whistling through your home, Mr Hoerning suggests putting low-cost draught stopping tape around windows or doors and tightening up the hinges on doors and windows. He says it’s important to avoid lots of moisture in the home over winter because it increases the risk of mould. Air your home by opening windows and doors a few times a day, even in winter, he says.

Other top tips:

➤➤Dry clothes outside or in a clothes dryer that is vented to the outside – avoid indoor airing racks or clothes dryers that vent into your house. The moisture in the clothes will end up in your home, making it damp. ➤➤Avoid unflued gas heaters which release toxic fumes and make your house damp. Cheap portable electric heaters are safer and cost less to run. ➤➤Check your insulation to make sure it is up to scratch and hasn’t been moved over the summer.

aori All Blacks legend Waka Nathan (Ngapuhi, Te Roroa, Tainui) has been made a life member of the New Zealand Maori Rugby Board (NZMRB). Nathan, who lives in Howick, received the honour - in recognition of the exceptional services he has rendered to Maori rugby - at the board’s annual general meeting in Wellington on April 18. The 77-year-old’s contribution to Maori rugby has been constant since he made his debut for Auckland before his 19th birthday in 1959 and toured the Pacific with the New Zealand Maori team later that year. “Waka’s record speaks for itself and he holds a special place in Maori rugby folklore for both his deeds on the field and his personality and contribution off it,” NZMRB chair Dr Farah Palmer said. Nathan was not able to attend the meeting to receive his life membership, which was accepted on his behalf by board member Bernard Te Paa.

Nathan represented the Maori All Blacks in 1959, 1960, 1961, 1965, 1966 and was awarded the Tom French Memorial Maori Rugby player of the year in 1962 and 1966. After hanging up his boots, he became a Maori All Blacks selector (1971-1977), was the team’s manager on its tour to Wales in 1982 and served as a New Zea-

land Rugby (NZR) councillor (1980-82). Nathan also appeared 37 times for the All Blacks including an unbeaten run of 14 tests between 1962 and 1967. The NZMRB has also reelected independent Board member Merewaakana Kingi for a further three years, and reappointed regional board rep-

resentatives Howard Peeti (Te Waipounamu), Arapeta Gibson (Te Tini A Maui) and Bernard Te Paa (Te Hiku O Te Ika). Rick Steedman (Te Hiku O Te Ika) replaces outgoing board member Jim Wetere who has stepped down as chair of Te Hiku O Te Ika after many years of valued service. Palmer said 2017 had been a busy and successful year for Maori rugby. “It was fantastic to see the Maori All Blacks involved in the DHL New Zealand Lions Series playing a key role in proudly showcasing Maori culture and Maori rugby to the world, despite not getting the result they were after. “From the spectacular powhiri performed to the British and Irish Lions team at Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where a world record 7800 people took part in a haka, to the carving of seven taiaha as trophies, and the manaakitanga extended to the Lions supporters across New Zealand, we celebrated our fantastic culture with our visitors.”
