Fall + Winter Events in Esquimalt Get a Jump on Budget Planning

450 native shrubs and trees were planted along the creek entering the Gorge Waterway.

Autumn A beautiful time to visit Esquimalt parks f you haven’t visited one of Esquimalt’s many parks this fall, you’re missing out. The colourful leaves highlight the natural beauty right on our doorstep. Earlier this fall, the Greater Victoria Green Team, TD Friends of the Environment (TD FEF) and Township of Esquimalt hosted a wildly successful TD Tree Days in Esquimalt Gorge Park. Over three hours, 450 native shrubs and trees were planted along the creek entering the Gorge Waterway with the help of dozens of community members and TD Bank employees. The native plants contribute to the biodiversity of the park and increase the tree coverage in the area. There were 23 species planted, including Garry oak, Douglas fir, big leaf maple, oceanspray, red flowering currant, salmonberry and thimbleberry. The plantings are in addition to the new rhododendron garden at Gorge Park, also the result of community partnerships and volunteer efforts. Dozens of new plants have been added with more to come. Stop by and see the improvements. Grab a cozy jacket and head out to catch some of the last blooms of 2019.
