VIDEA's Winter Fair returns on Nov. 25

V

IDEA’s Winter Fair, previously the Fair Trade Fair, is back for another day of showcasing beautiful artisan clothing and accessories, handmade gifts and home decor, jewelry and personal care items from fair trade and Indigenous vendors. Catering will be provided by the amazing International Women’s Catering Coop. Join us on Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Fernwood Community Centre. We’ll be there from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. VIDEA is a non-profit organization that strengthens the environment where youth and communities globally have access to the education, skills and support necessary to take feminist leadership in development solutions to gender inequality, the climate crisis, Indigenous and human rights violations, and injustice. We are a women’s organization working to create the conditions where the voices of those who identify as women, girls, genderdiverse and 2SLGBTQ+, and folks with additional barriers are brought to the centre of conversations. VIDEA’s work is led by women, First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth, youth with disabilities, 2SLGBTQ+ folks,

and those with lived experience of the issues we work on. We strongly believe in the power of community connections for global change, and this event is no exception. For more than 20 years, VIDEA’s annual fair has brought together socially and justice-conscious folks to shop locally, internationally, and ethically. As 2023 marks the first year we are back to hosting in-person events, we wanted to ensure this year’s fair reflects our work, priorities, and continuous efforts to showcase the incredible talent in our vibrant communities. In addition to featuring many beloved fair-trade vendors, we are honoured to be joined by some amazing Indigenous artists! In line with our organizational values, VIDEA doesn’t charge vendors to sell at this event. Folks who would like to donate to VIDEA at the door are welcome, but not obligated, to do so.
