For nearly 20 years, Eric Pittman has been a Sales Consultant with Van Isle Windows Ltd. here in Victoria. He started with the company in September 2004, and has been selling vinyl windows and patio doors during this time, often achieving the highest sales volume annually for the company. His expertise of the window and door business is further complimented with his passion for conservation, the environment and photography.
Some of you may recognize Eric for his extensive knowledge with hummingbirds as well as being the co-founder of The Canadian Orca Rescue Society.
Eric became somewhat of a hummingbird expert when he picked up a video camera many years ago and started filming a nest in his backyard. Since that time, he has filmed 100’s of hummingbird nests from egg to completion as well as worked with BBC Wildlife Films, the Canadian Wildlife Federation, Habitat Acquisition Trust and many other nature groups.
In 2017 Eric and his friend, Gregg Vincent Mcelroy, cofounded the Canadian Orcas Rescue Society. They taught themselves to sew and made inflatable orcas to provide good
imagery, get people inspired, and remind people about their mission; to bring salmon back to every river and creek in BC. Their life-sized inflatable orcas bring the message of conservation and restoration to the orcas living in the Salish Sea. Bit by bit, orca by orca, Eric, Gregg and the Canadian Orca Rescue Society wants to do their part to preserve and protect the planet. Van Isle Windows is very proud that Eric is a big part of saving the Southern Resident pods.
Another fun fact about Eric is he holds the Guinness World Record for conducting the largest underwater press conference involving 61 journalists who dived to a depth of 10 m (32 ft 9.6 in). He was promoting the release of his book ‘Emails from a Nut!!!’, held at Crystal Pool here in Victoria, on November 4, 2006.
If you’re interested in windows, patio doors, hummingbirds, The Canadian Orca Rescue Society, or Guiness World Records, call Eric Pittman at Van Isle Windows.
