RANSOM TWP. - Kathy Zielinski, Ransom Township secretary-treasurer gave her resignation at an emergency meeting held Monday evening, March 19, after irregularities were found during an audit of the township finances, according to Solicitor Edmund Scacchitti. Details of what the auditors found have not yet been disclosed, and Scacchitti estimated the audit could take another 60 days to complete. He said the auditors presented their findings to the supervisors, who brought them to Zielinski, who immediately resigned. He said the matter was brought to the district attorney’s office Tuesday morning. Supervisor Dennis Macheska, who is acting as secretarytreasurer until a replacement can be found, said Zielinski has been with the Township since 1994. “It’s unfortunate because Kathy was a valued employee,” Scacchitti said, adding that there’s a lot of sadness in the township regarding the situation. He said he is unable to comment further at this time, as all of the details have not yet been revealed.
