One of the exciting times during your engagement is asking your bridesmaids to be a part of your special day. As marriage proposals have grown more elaborate, it’s no surprise that bridesmaids proposals have followed. Being a bridesmaid can be a large time and financial commitment, it’s important to show the girls you’re choosing how much they mean to you and how much you appreciate their willingness to help you (and celebrate) with this next chapter of your life.
We know you’ve had your list of bridesmaids chosen forever, but why not make the delivery fun for them? We’re here to help you with the perfect bridesmaid proposal idea….there are many fun ways to pop the questions to your bridesmaids, from gift boxes, sentimental keepsakes, to turning it into a game with crossword puzzles.
The traditional proposal: A simple way of asking your ladies to be a part of your wedding party, a card is a fail-safe option that allows for plenty of creativity with your words.
A Gift Box Proposal: Your bridesmaids will likely treasure something more personal, a box filled with goodies makes for a nice bridesmaid proposal.
Edible Proposal: Sweeten up your bride tribe with cookies, chocolates, candy or all of the above. Personalized treats popping the question are delicious and thoughtful.
A Keepsake Gift: A necklace, bracelet, something that can be kept forever. It’s sure to keep you and your bridesmaid together forever.
A Bridesmaid Proposal Balloon: Add an element of surprise with your bridesmaid proposal, they’ll have to pop the balloon to find the much anticipated question.
Wedding days are meant to be filled with love and celebration, and what better way to ring in the new stage of life as newlyweds than with a well-decorated venue to match the joyous occasion. Whether a couple is on a tight budget or picky when it comes to theme ideas, these decorating tips can help add more flair for the big day.
Use a natural venue. Many couples choose wedding venues that require immense amounts of decorations, but a venue with organic scenery or a beautiful view can help alleviate the stress. Consider having the ceremony near a garden or beach with enough natural surroundings to keep guests in awe.
Make the cake a centerpiece. Wedding cakes are almost guaranteed to be filled with flavor, but they can also serve as a decorative centerpiece for the reception. Choosing a cake topped with flowers, highlighting bright colors and placing it in a prominent spot at the reception can grab guests’ attention while also keeping them eager for a bite.
Choose table accessories that pop. Leave guests in amazement as they make their way to their seats for the reception with beautifully decorated tables. Table accessories can be anything ranging from patterned table runners to flowers in full bloom placed in simple, elegant vases. If you are not having a formal sit-down reception, try using paper lanterns or hanging flowers from the ceiling to create an eye-catching atmosphere to remember.
Add classic lighting. At times, finding the right lighting to match the mood of a wedding venue can be tricky. In this case, less may be more. Try opting for a classic candlelit ceremony or reception to create a more romantic setting. This can save both money and countless hours spent attempting to configure elaborate light fixtures and provide a timeless feel.
Place engagement photos around the venue. With any wedding, you want the day to feel personal and intimate for the couple and guests alike. Consider decorating the venue with engagement photos and a memory table of those that could not attend or have passed on along with of the soon-to-be spouses as they popped the question. This can allow the newlyweds to reminisce while guests view those cherished moments and revel in the occasion.

Whether you’re a creative bride looking to DIY your wedding flowers or are looking for a floral designer, these ideas can help you decide if you’d like to add dried flowers to your wedding design. the great part is that its something you can work on right now, since it’s best to start collecting or if you choose to dry early.
This method does offer brides a take on how to be less wasteful in the wedding world. Fresh blooms were used to soften the arrangements, and dried flowers, to fill the arrangements such as pompous grass and baby breath.
You can use the dried wedding flower look in two ways: use elements you’ve dried on your own to personalize the arrangements and reduce some floral costs. Or, ask your florist for dried elements to add into your wedding flowers and then use as keepsakes from the big day!
Dried florals mixed with fresh for your wedding florals that reused and really mixed the idea of old and new. Dried flowers often give a rustic more boho look however you can also make them so elegant and romantic. Adding in touches of handmade rope wrapped bouquet holders, or customized leather wraps around your bouquet can set the tone for the style you want to achieve. Your florists can help you decide how many dry vs fresh florals to mix depending on the look you want to achieve. It’s your wedding make it your own!

Your wedding day is the one day when all the special people in your life come together and celebrate love. And not just any love—you and your new spouse’s love. A traditional guest book can do document this special day but looking back at signatures on a piece of paper may not effectively bring back your wedding memories. A creative guest book alternative that matches your wedding theme or personalities may be in order.
Put together a display of postcards and have your guests write a note on their favorite one. For years to come you can pick up those postcards and relive your special day. Add a custom mailbox to make it even more unique!
Bring a classic game into the mix. Put out a display of blank Jenga blocks with pens. Each guest will have fun signing their own block. Then, every time you and your partner play the game, you'll be reminded of the great memories shared on your big day.
Have your own book made up of pictures of you and your bride or groom. Do not fill up the pages with picture space, leave plenty for the guests to sign, as well as the option to add your own photos. Use the photo book to show the many activities you and your partner have enjoyed together leading up to your wedding day.
Depending on the venue, some spaces where the reception will be can be pretty boring until decorated. One couple decorated the walls with butcher paper and put out pens. Guests wrote messages and after the wedding the couple took a picture of each message and had a book made.
Have a photo printed of the happy couple, put it in a frame with lots of white space surrounding the photo. Leave pens near it and let the guests go crazy putting in their special messages!
Store your memories in a unique way that will catch your eye for years to come. The happiness your wedding brings doesn’t have to end once the big day is over. By opting for a more creative take on the traditional wedding guest book, both you and your loved ones will have more fun and create stronger memories—and you may even go home with a beautiful piece of artwork.

For some couples, the idea of registering for wedding gifts is an exciting way to start planning for the home they’ll be sharing as newlyweds. For others, the registry is just one more chore to check off the wedding to-do list.
Regardless of where you fall on the love-it-or-hate-it spectrum, most experts agree a registry is a good idea, especially for couples who will be setting up a home together for the first time. Keep these tips and etiquette guidelines in mind to get the most out of your registry.
Take inventory of what you have and what you need. For couples who’ve lived alone or together, the registry may be a way to fill in gaps for necessities neither of you already have. It’s also a
good way to begin upgrading the less expensive kitchen items and furnishings you had as college students or singles. Make a list of your needs and wants so you don’t forget any essentials. If you’re still in doubt, request a checklist from the store where you’ll be registering so you can do some planning.
Register for things at a wide range of price points. The whole purpose of a registry is to make it easy for your guests to get you things you’ll like and need. Part of making it easy is recognizing your guests have diverse financial situations. While it’s customary to gift the bride and groom, not everyone can afford an extravagant gift, especially if they’ve spent money on travel and attire to attend. While it’s a good idea to offer modest options, don’t shy away from bigger ticket items that a small group might chip in on together.
Keep access in mind when you choose where to register. Stores that are local or regional are great for your local guests. If you have many guests who live out of the area try to avoid the temptation to choose online only options, as some guests will prefer to see what they’re buying. Aim for a mix to give your guests options.
Plan to block off at least a few hours for an in-person registry. It will take time to get everything set up. Traveling through the store, debating options and making your selections could take longer than expected. Also be sure to ask how you can add to or edit your registry after your initial visit.
Get your partner involved. There are bound to be some parts of the registry your partner may not care about but asking for input and making decisions together lets you both share in the excitement. Focus on things you’ll each find useful as you settle into your new home.

New Year’s Eve in 2018 we decided to stay in. Just before midnight, I asked her to break open a piñata that I had hung on a pine tree in the backyard. She loved the idea and took a whack at it. Out flew a small, brightly colored fabric bag with a ring in it. I picked it up and got down on one knee. Right after she said yes, fireworks everywhere started going off. Perfect timing!
It was a Tuesday and my husband had arranged a date night for us. We went to Pono, and he said that after dinner we had tickets to a show downtown. We ate, and then went for coffee and dessert at Soif. Our show started at 9pm and he said it was at the Nickelodeon theater. We walked over and I saw a Hawaiian name on the billboard, and he told me it was a Hawaiian movie (hence going to Pono) and if I didn’t like it, no big deal and we could leave after the first few minutes. We got our tickets and went into the theater. We sat in the back and were the only ones there, which I didn’t think odd because it was a Tuesday, after all. The lights went down, and the previews started. After the second preview, something changed on the screen…a new movie started. It was a movie that my husband had made about his journey to find me. As it turns out, he had bought out the theater, so it was just us. The movie played, the lights went up, and he proposed. He had stashed snacks and comfy clothes in the front, and we spent the evening watching one of our favorite movies alone in our own theater. It turns out that the Hawaiian name of the movie on the billboard and tickets said, “will you marry me.” He chose a Hawaiian theme because it was his last state to visit, and one of my favorite places. The rest is history!
Every couple — and every relationship — is different, so what works for one couple may not work for the next. For example, one person may love the idea of getting proposed to during a baseball game while another may really want to be proposed to during a concert. Take your partner’s personality into account and go above and beyond to plan a special moment the two of you will never forget.
We both LOVE to play Monopoly. So back in 2016 when I decided to propose, I got creative. I made a Chance Card just like the one with the diamond ring on it. I actually made it on the back of one so the paper would match. Only instead of the text that says pay the Luxury Tax I put in, “Will You Marry Me? I put it at the top of the Chance pile and hoped and prayed she would land on Chance. I figured if I got Chance first, I would figure out a way to grab the second one. Pretty far into the game, I landed on Chance. Oh no! But I did manage to switch them when she got up to get something out of the kitchen. This was a nail-biter! Further along, she FINALLY landed on Chance. She chose the card, read it, read it again, looked up at me and said, YES! That card is framed on the wall in our house. And, yes, we still play Monopoly!
Although we had many mutual friends, it wasn’t until a friend’s birthday party in April 2007 that we officially met. Since we had dated for such a long time, Brett knew exactly how to surprise me. He planned for my friends and me to go on a Wine Safari. I had always wanted to go and thought it would be a fun day trip. After introducing our group to the resident wildlife, the tour guide led everyone to a private overlook of the vineyards. When we got there, I found balloons and a handwritten letter from Brett. As I was reading the letter, he snuck out from his hiding spot and proposed! It was a perfect day!
Being out in the open, in a romantic oceanfront setting while the wind and waves sing their praises over your union sounds like a dream come true. Especially if you and your betrothed are lovers of the ocean. The beauty and simplicity of the beach can be enhanced to create a dazzling setting for your vows and reception. You can walk down your sand aisle, maybe covered with a beautiful mat with flower petals on it, to a stunning arch made of branches and flowers. The beach is perfect for small weddings, you can create your own intimate seating and reception area for your guests. The decision to get married on the beach might include county rules so you check before you make any solid commitments. Some counties require permits and insurance, and some don’t require anything. Just set up and show up!
Picking a venue is a crucial part of planning your wedding. This is your big day, and you deserve to celebrate it with your loved ones. The wedding venue reflects your style and you and your fiancée’s interests!
Rolling fields, dazzling colors, and plenty of natural light are just a few of the perks of hosting your wedding at a vineyard. Vineyard weddings are very romantic, it’s a good way to mix natural, rustic, and vintage in one wedding. Use all the advantages of a winery in your décor: grapevine, wine barrels, bottles, grapes and lush greenery. Most wineries offer wedding packages but start out with calling your favorite! Breweries also offer a fun and casual wedding venue. You can create simple wedding décor and offer the brewery specials as your beverage. Most breweries have a large outdoor area and some even have outdoor games that add to the fun!
"Gorgeous spring bouquet!"
"A great combination of classic and modern"
"Beautiful spot for guests to take pictures!"
"Big Sur beaches!"
"Love the idea of investing in wedding stationery"
"Great idea for ceremony signage"
Is sports your thing? Check out the stadiums of your local teams. Some might have wedding packages, or some might just be available for rent and you figure out the décor (sports, of course!). When teams are out of season (or simply off-site), stadiums open their doors to other events, including weddings. Can you imagine getting married on the same ground your favorite sports team plays on!? Yes!
Whether it be your family farm or a farm venue, farm weddings can take place in any season and often bring a natural, earthy, and rustic style to a wedding. From underneath gigantic trees, an out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere field, or a beautiful big barn, you can choose just about any setting for your farm wedding. The best thing about farm weddings is that they can be kept simple. You don’t have to be extra fancy. There is a clean slate in which to add your own DIY centerpieces, décor, it’s your day! Rustic chic, simple elegance? Of course!
Although a golf course wedding may not have crossed your mind before, it’s worth checking out. While you might think of a golf club as a reception venue, it can be a beautiful site for your ceremony too. Hosting both your ceremony and reception at one site is easier on you, your wedding party, and your guests. The manicured grounds of a golf course offer a variety of spectacular options, regardless of the season. In spring and summer, the course is lush and green. As the leaves change in fall, Mother Nature shares her beautiful pallet of oranges, yellows, and reds. Some courses offer a wedding ceremony right on the course and the reception inside.
If your favorite day trip going to the local aquarium or zoo? Well then, take a walk on the wild side! Imagine saying your vows accompanied by elephants or giraffes or dining next to a floor-to-ceiling glass tank full of sea life. Your wedding decor is done for you when you choose one of these venues for your vows! You would be surprised at how many of these venues have wedding packages. And as a bonus, at many zoos and aquariums give a percentage of the rental fee to help support ongoing conservation and wildlife protection efforts. What could be more perfect for creature-loving couples who want an unconventional (and unforgettable!) event!
No matter where you choose to recite your vows with your future spouse, make it a memorable one by getting married in a venue that reflects your interests. Whether it be a barn or an aquarium, your guests will enjoy an unforgettable day!
Is there a favorite public park you frequently visit for hiking and picnics? If you love it, it might just be the place for your wedding! Many public parks have lots of lawn, beautiful fountains, gazebos, and lots of picnic area. Not only will the natural landscape serve as a beautiful backdrop for pictures but choosing a park as your venue can also help you save money on an event space, decorations, and more. Most public parks are okay for bringing in all of your own things for having a personalized wedding, but you should still check your county for permits. Check ca.gov if you are interested in getting married at a state park.
Frequently known for dramatic architecture, incredible exhibits, and curated collections—museums are works of art in themselves! They often provide such a striking backdrop that little else is needed in terms of décor. A museum will provide an endless color palette to play with. Couples can use the in-house artwork to accent their décor, rather than start completely from scratch. Like your love story, a wedding at a museum is truly oneof-a-kind. Imagine your guests dining among exhibits that might include beautiful paintings and exquisite antiques. From art museums to natural history museums, the venue type is a definite way to wow your guests.
When it comes to a wedding cake, it is an obvious decision for your wedding day dessert. Most times, tradition wins out but...does everyone eat cake? Maybe not, say hello to the dessert bar!
Dessert bars have become a popular trend for guests to have an option other than cake. Some couples choose to forgo the traditional wedding cake and offer alternatives, such as the dessert bar. A dessert bar can include an assortment such as cookies, cake pops, lemon bars, brownies, etc. Or you can do an assortment of one item. Pies and doughnuts are popular choices as each one has a wide choice of flavors. For some couples, the dessert bar is a way to showcase family traditions. Your family can be included by making the desserts made using family recipes, referencing childhood flavors, and honoring heritages. You can even label the dessert with the family member it came from. Presenting your dessert table can also tie in your family using a vintage flair. Use family dishware, tablecloths, pictures, etc. to bring your heritage into your wedding day.
Let’s not completely forget about the wedding cake. If sticking to tradition is important, order the wedding cake of your dreams. Guests love walking into a reception room and seeing the cake standing tall on a table of its own. Everyone loves watching the bride and groom feed each other cake. This symbolizes the joining of their lives and their commitment to one another. The tradition of saving the top tier of the cake for the celebration of the first wedding anniversary is still something brides and grooms look forward to.
Choosing desserts for your wedding should not be stressful. You can do a wedding cake alone or a dessert bar alone. You can also do both. Order a smaller wedding cake, make it the centerpiece of the dessert table, and decorate around it with a variety of desserts. The guests still get to experience the alternative of a choice of desserts and also get to have their cake and eat it too! There’s no right or wrong way to do wedding desserts—as long as you’ve got sweets on hand, your guests will be more than happy to eat them!
When it comes to wedding presents, physical gifts do not have to be the only options for your guests. Money is an awkward topic, but there’s no reason you can’t request it as a gift. Some guests will always believe in a physical gift, so even if you want cash, sign up for a registry so your guests have the choice. There are a few options for cash gifts: A Money Tree, The Money Dance, and of course, a decorative box for cards.
A money tree is a centerpiece where guests can pin or clip cash onto a “tree” as a gift to the happy couple. If you are a crafty person, you can make your money tree yourself. It can be made of wood, wire, or actual tree branches. Once you have your tree, if you want you can spray paint it to match your wedding colors. You can also order money trees online. Once you have it the way you want it, you can attach clothespins, paperclips, or ribbons to the branches, which give people a spot to put dollar (or higher) bills, checks, and gift cards. They can also be used to pin up advice and well-wishes for the bride and groom. That way, everyone gets to be involved, even if they didn’t bring you money.
Don’t forget to include paper, pens, and small envelopes at each place setting, then ask that everyone write some wellwishes to hang on the tree. The best place for a money tree is at the gift table. Don’t put it front and center, and don’t call attention to it in any announcements or toasts. You don’t want to make it seem like giving money is a requirement. Next to the tree, put a cute poem or explanation about what the money on it is going toward. The guests will appreciate knowing what their cash gift is benefitting.
The money dance may have originated in Poland around the beginning of the 20th century. The dance takes place sometime after the first dance, often once guests have had a chance
to have a few drinks. The best man or the disc jockey announces the event. Cus tomarily, the best man begins danc ing with the bride, pinning money onto her wedding gown, or putting it into a purse, which she carries especially for the purpose, or into the pockets of an apron she dons over her gown, especially for this dance. The custom is to help establish the couple in their new life together, or to show how much they are loved and appreciated.
The money dance is an excellent way for guests to interact with the bride and groom, you may want to include the dance. Even if both of you don’t share the same traditions, it can be a memorable way to unite the two families. Choose your money dance songs in advance and try not to go over ten minutes.
A more discreet option for accepting cash gifts at your wedding is a decorative box or receptacle where guests can leave cards. This box can be placed at the gift table and most guests will know what it is for. There are many ideas on what to use, you can decorate it yourself or buy one online. The card box you choose can complement your wedding décor. For a rustic wedding, simple wood is all you really need. A wooden box with a hinged lid can easily hold all your cards during and after your special day. They’re also very easy to paint!
Go on a thrifting mission and find a cute, old hat box to collect your cards in. It’s a fantastic way to complete your vintage wedding theme. If your wedding is outside, lanterns (not lit of course!) make whimsical wedding decorations and you can get cute ones to place on the gift table. Your guests can simply open the door to slip their cards inside.
If you choose to do a money dance, tree, or box, do not do a fund request online for your cash goals as some couples do. Many guests might see that as overkill for gift giving. This is a more personal way for guests to give gifts and they will feel more satisfied that they were able to give your cash gift directly. t
A long-gone tradition in weddings is making its way back—the giving of gifts between bride and groom.
If you’re reading this article, you’re most likely are one of the many couples that has gotten engaged since Thanksgiving. As you prepare for the big day, with something old, new, borrowed and blue, remember - tradition holds that you both exchange wedding
presents with one another.
Etiquette governs that gifts are exchanged either: the night before the wedding, the morning of the ceremony, or before you leave on your honeymoon. Here are some gift ideas to keep in mind whether you two opt for some type of jewelry (a very popular choice) or something else entirely.
Jewelry Box – To treasure love notes, jewels, keepsakes or accessories.
Perfume - A favorite scent to wear on her wedding day.
Silk Robe – For the honeymoon, a silk, lace or floral robe.
Colored Gemstones – A special gem, that has symbolic meaning, set in a necklace, bracelet or earrings.

What could be more fun? Two people in love are uniting in front of their friends and family and everyone is celebrating! Add a few activities into the mix and it gets even better!
Coloring can keep children occupied for hours, and best of all, it’s mess-free! Adorn each child’s place setting with a coloring book or some doodle paper and crayons just for them. If you have a dedicated kids’ table in your wedding seating chart, you can even cover the entire table in butcher paper so the kids can draw directly on their table, which is always a big hit!
At each guest’s seat, leave a cute sheet with some trivia questions about the two of you – they could be multiple choice, true/false questions or fill-in-the-blank. Guests can fill out the questions whenever they like, and later, the emcee can read off the answers. Whichever guests gets the most answers correct at their table can take home the centerpiece.
The newlyweds take a seat in front of their guests, sitting back-to-back. The bride holds one of her shoes in her hand and the groom holds one of his shoes in his hand. A member of the bridal party acts as host, and the couple answers the following questions simultaneously by holding up the shoe that corresponds with their answer. Estimate approximately 15 minutes to play the shoe game, and include questions like:
t Who said I love you first?
t Who has better handwriting?
t Who is the better dancer?
t Whose phone battery always has more of a charge?
This is a great game for a spring/summer outdoor wedding. It gives guests the opportunity to interact and maybe meet some new people! It is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their corn bags at the cornhole platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points.
t Who says I love you more?
t Who is more likely to be running late?
t Who is the better cook?
t Who got the best grades in school?
Though your guests won’t be playing along, they’ll be laughing it up as your answers reveal the truth about how you view yourselves and each other in this fun and revealing game.
This is another good outdoor game. Stop a 4-foot Jenga set from tumbling down! Perfect for adults and children, be the last player to keep the blocks standing to win. How to play: Cut 54, equally sized
Set up a fun spot for guests to suggest date night ideas for all your years together. How to play: In the cocktail hour area or the dining room, leave a place for guests to come up
wedding day beauty by using it in a trendy fashion.
A unique way of incorporating your “something blue” into your wedding day is using blue nail polish. For the classic bride a soft pastel blue or a blue hue that’s barely there may be best suited. For the bold bride looking to make a statement with their “something blue” manicure you can choose from an array of deep blues; there’s a shade of blue for every look. Add your “something blue” into your wedding day by adding a few
floral twist on a long-time tradition.
The bride doesn’t have to be the one displaying the “something blue” her bridesmaids can wear blue dresses which can add a fun twist to the tradition. Each bridesmaid can implement a different shade of blue in their dress creating a cohesive contrast of blue shades.
The groom can also be the one to implement the “something blue” into your wedding day, maybe it’s with a dark navy suit, a blue bow tie or a hint of blue in his boutonniere. The groomsmen can even join in on displaying the “something blue” for your wedding with blue suits or even just blue ties.
Blue garter, shoes, flowers, nail polish, table settings, earrings, bridesmaid’s dresses? The possibilities are endless when it comes to incorporating “something blue” into your wedding day, fit the tradition into your day in a unique way that best suits you!
Your wedding is a very special day, and you should have the best wedding photography to help you document and record it. There are many wedding photographers that offer various wedding photography packages so you want to carefully review each one to make sure that you are getting the best wedding photography for your big day. One last thought to consider is if they also have a wedding videographer so you don't have to work with two different studios. Choose your wedding photographer well and it will help make you big day wedding run smoothly and you can enjoy the photos which you can proudly share for years to come.
A wedding is one of the most memorable days in a couple's lives. The bride has probably dreamed of this day her entire life and has probably started planning and preparing for their wedding as soon as the relation ship became serious. With long hours of preparation, stress, and running around, the expected outcome of the wedding is grand. It's the day she will remember forever. This is why it's so important to record it and find the best wedding photographer to help capture the memories and show off the beautiful celebration.
Here are several things you need to consider when choosing a wedding photographer. There are many wedding photographers and knowing the right questions to ask is important in choosing the right one. Below are five questions you shouldn't skip out on:
How many years of experience does the photographer have? The pho tographer's experience will reflect in the final pictures. You want a pho tographer with plenty of experience. This means actual experience as a wedding photographer, and the size of the weddings they have shot for. What is the photographer's style? You want someone to match the style that you want out of your wedding pictures. There are many different styles, such as classic style, modern, relaxed, creative, artistic and so much more. Ask the photographer to explain and describe their photog raphy style to you.
Will they be the person taking all the pictures? It's important that you
meet the actual photographer, not their secretary. You want to make sure that you get a good feeling from them, and that you enjoy their presence, as they will be around you your entire wedding. Also, ask to meet their assistants as well, as they will be right there with the photographer as well.
What kind of equipment will the photographer be using and bringing with him? You want a professionally equipped photographer. Ask what kind of extra equipment he will be bringing aside from their camera, such as tripod, lighting, and other necessities. It's good to have the extra equip ment, as they will help make your pictures better, but also, how will they affect your wedding and will they be in the way?
Can you see examples of their work and reviews or refer ences? You want to look through other wedding photo al bums that they have done in the past. This way you will get a better idea of the photographer's shooting style and the way he works. If possible, get references and call former wedding clients. They can give you insight you cannot get from interviewing the photographer.

A wedding day is filled with symbolic tradition, from varied religious customs to the never-ending circle reflected in the rings and the types of flowers accentuating the celebration. Even with all the traditional rituals to consider, nearly every bride and groom can find ways to give their special day some unique touches that reflect their personality and love.
Music sets the mood for every wedding, and it’s an easy place to put your own spin on the celebration. Whether you forgo the traditional bridal march entirely or simply look for an arrangement that gives an updated twist to the classic version, let guests know this isn’t your average wedding by setting the festivities against a soundtrack that lets your true character shine.
The wedding party is intended to be a collection of those nearest and dearest to the bride and groom, who help ensure the day goes off without a hitch and who lead fellow revelers in celebrating the start of the new couple’s life together. That being said, there’s no reason this group must be limited to women on her side and guys on his, or even that it’s limited to humans – a beloved pooch can make for an adorable ring-bearer, after all.
Photography is an essential element of your big day, but think beyond the images you’ll capture throughout the wedding and reception.
Photos lend a personal touch, no matter what your color scheme or theme. Integrate photos of the two of you at various stages of life, together as a couple and with loved ones (perhaps even some you’re honoring in memoriam). You can display these at a table with the guest book, as part of the table centerpieces, or even on the gift table. Or take things digital and load all your images into a slide show set to music.
Make favors meaningful. Forgo more common items like bubbles and chocolate, and instead send a little of yourself home with your guests. Maybe it’s a memento from a place with special meaning to you both, or a bottle opener shaped like a bicycle to represent the way you met. Just think about the moments and things that define you as a couple and do some searching online. You’ll probably be surprised by how quickly the options pile up.
Serve up a menu that shows guests more about your life together. Your loved ones can order basic beef or chicken anywhere. Instead, give them a glimpse into you. Make your main course the same food you enjoyed on your first date or during another monumental moment in your courtship. Or plan the entire menu around a region that you hold close to your heart.
Weddings are filled with traditions, but that doesn’t mean you can’t put your own touches on the day for a special event filled with memories that are uniquely your own. Find more advice for life’s special moments at elivingtoday.com. Family Features
You’re planning your wedding and you’ve gotten to the part where you choose the music. Band or DJ? Both have benefits, so how do you decide which one is right for you?
Let’s look at the pros and cons:
DJs are typically less expensive than a band because you only pay for one person. Prices vary depending on equipment requests and whether it’s a weekday or weekend. For a smaller wedding, a DJ can work because a smaller wedding means a smaller venue, which is better because DJs don’t require much space. DJs usually have a more diverse range of music they can play. This can be great if you want a mix of music at your wedding or are unsure what type of music you want to be played. A DJ will sit down with you beforehand and help you choose what you want and what you do not want.
There are many factors to consider when hiring a band. The number of musicians, the length of time you want them to perform, the day of the week and the season all impact pricing. Bands can be more
expensive because you pay for each band member. Bands take up more space than DJs because you need room for all the musicians. If you want a specific type of music played at your wedding (e.g., classical, jazz, rock, a specific decade, etc.) a band is probably a better choice.
Whether you choose a band or a DJ, it is essential to communicate your music preferences to them. This way, they can play the songs that you and your guests will enjoy. Give them your likes and dislikes regarding music choices, and even more importantly, a do NOT playlist. Don’t just ask you favorite band to play at your wedding. Bands that play exclusively at weddings know the drill. They know when and how to introduce the wedding party, bride and groom, the first dances, cake cutting, etc. Before you make your final decision, it’s a good idea to research local bands and DJs. Read reviews, listen to their music, go see them play live and see if they will be a good fit at your reception.
If someone close to you is getting married, you're probably going to want to make a toast at their wedding to demonstrate how happy you are for them. But if you're not a polished public speaker and your tongue gets tied and palms get sweaty just thinking about it, you might be looking for some guidance. While what you say on their special day is up to you, there are some common rules as to how it's said.
Whether it's you, someone in your bridal party, or a family member making a toast at the wedding, here are a few hints to make it less stressful and more meaningful:
* You can offer a traditional wedding toast or give an original toast. If you choose to give an original toast, prepare it ahead of time.
* Practice your toast; if you're afraid you'll blank out when the time comes, put your thoughts on note cards.
* Humor is good, but don't make inside or off-color jokes during your toast.
* The toast should be short, sweet, and personal.
* Make sure everyone's glass is full before starting your toast.
• Go through all the motions. Imagine where the audience is sitting, when rehearsing pretend to make gestures and eye contact in that direction.
prevent you from rushing through the speech.
• Keep your toast to around two minutes. If you find yourself talking quickly (which is likely if you're nervous) make a conscious effort to slow down.
• Welcome Speech, that is usually the father of the bride.
• Maid of Honor carries on about how great the bride is
• Best Man usually speaks towards the end of dinner about the groom and his bride
• Newlyweds -- grab that mic and thank your parents
End the toast on a positive note. Include a formal indication to inform them of the ending of the toast and what to say next. For example: "Let us now toast the to a life of love and happiness for Melissa and Jordan. To Melissa and Jordan!" As you say this, wave your glass to all, then tip it towards the person you are toasting to. Then clink your glass gently with those around you and sip your drink!
• Insert strategic pauses to add emphasis. Doing so will also help

"I recommend Coastal Wedding to anybody I know that is planning a wedding. It was the best wedding magazine for planning a wedding in Santa Cruz County as it was the only one to list vendors and resources available in Santa Cruz County. All other bay area wedding magazines would list vendors from San Jose, San Francisco, Monterey, etc. It is fantastically written with great advice for every step of the process. Whether someone is planning their wedding with no clear picture of what they want, or they have an exact detailed picture like I did, Coastal Wedding magazine was a huge help. What I didn't get from the magazine I got from the website. Plus, it's free!"
