community housing in liverpool university of sydney master of architecture urban architecture research studio 5th year | semester one | 2014 Culturally sensitive housing for migrants in the heart of Liverpool was the main objective of this scheme. The proposal accommodated a number of communal facilities below flexible and community friendly housing. The commercial zone housed support and educational facilities along with a childcare to assist new migrants in transitioning into a new life in Sydney. Research into the typical lifecycle of a migrant influenced the design of the building lifecycle and the facilities within.
sustainable housing in waverton university of sydney master of architecture sustainable architecture research studio 4th year | semester two | 2014 This proposal focused on providing innovative and sustainable housing solutions using timber as the predominant material. Situated above the railway line at Waverton station, this medium density medium rise apartment block was an investigation into new modes of living in an increasingly dense Sydney urban environment. Combining passive design with transformable living quarters, the design was responsive to its surrounding environment and its residential requirements. A focus was placed on constructibility and environmental research based design.

zoo enclosure for taronga zoo university of sydney master of architecture digital architecture research studio 4th year | semester one | 2014 The project focused on form making through digital modelling with biomimicry as a thematic approach. A seal enclosure in Taronga Zoo provided the basis for a structure that encouraged interaction with animals through a symphony of the visitor’s senses. A workflow based around digital modelling processes, included the use of Rhino to create a form which was then translated into physical fabrication and visualisation.

qualcomm sydney office fitout SARM Architects project value: $1.1 million construction completed march 2014 Qualcomm Sydney required new office facilities within the 800sqm floor plate to incorporate acoustically rated offices and conference rooms with simple and modern breakout spaces. Some challenges in this project was to co-ordinate between local and international stakeholders, however comprehensive and detailed documentation with regular teleconference meetings resulted in a smooth project delivery. As the project architect, my role was to design and document the facilities to construction phase, liaising with consultants and clients throughout the process. Weekly project control meetings with the builders and project managers provided hands on experience throughout the various stages of the project, from concept design through to construction.

eBay australia office fitout SARM Architects construction completed september 2012 eBay Australia’s office kitchen required a modern refurbishment to accommodate it’s growth in personnel. The 300sqm floor plate needed to be flexible to allow large training functions and meetings to be carried out without disturbance from the kitchen. Custom designed joinery facilitated breakfast meetings as well as supporting weekly catered lunches with consideration of efficiency and sociability. As the project architect, in addition to design and documentation, managing the expectations of multiple stakeholders within the same organisation was a challenge that was met through structured and concise communication. The success of the project ensured additional work from the client throughout the building.
