Masquerade masks- classic ideas for party masks

Among all party masks, those used in masquerade balls in 16th century Italy are the most popular and enjoyable to create and wear. Those parties, which were so famous in Venice during the Renaissance period, were grand dances attended by the members of the upper crust of the Venetian society. The mystery, the grandeur, and even the sexiness of those dances are relived in many parties today. Many organizers of proms, birthdays, weddings, and reunions choose the masquerade ball as their theme because of all these factors. If you happen to be invited to a party with this theme, here are some of the types of masks you can wear to the event.

An eye mask, as the term suggests, covers just your eye area from temple to temple, leaving your nose exposed. But even with just this small strip of a costume, your look can already range from the simplest to the most interesting. You can just have one in a gold and glittery fabric for an understated elegance. But you can also have an eye mask in a shape of a butterfly, an asymmetrical pattern, or any object you wish.

If you want to cover your face a bit more for more mystery, you can opt for the half-face mask, which is a popular pick among all masquerade masks. It usually covers from your forehead to just below your cheekbones. But you can have this one in a vertical or irregular shape. This type is often worn by men and tends to be available in masculine designs. The white half-mask in the hit musical "The Phantom of the Opera" is always a scene stealer, particularly if you wear it together with the black hooded cloak of the main character.

A full mask covers your entire face - from your hairline to your chin. These are suggested, however, only if you'd need to wear the mask briefly. You should remember that it can be quite a hassle when you need to eat, drink, and talk during the party. You would need to take the whole thing off of your face. However, this full mask would be great if you need to disguise your whole identity.

Stick masks are often used today as you enter a party or as a prop for a dance or other activities in an event. Since you'd need to hold it up with your hand, it's hard to wear it constantly the whole evening. Similar to the full mask, it's quite a challenge for you to eat and drink while holding this mask up. These are the mask types you can choose from to wear to your masquerade party. The best way to choose is to think of the overall look that you want. From there, you can already think which mask would be best to project the image you want.
