Week 9_Journal ACTIVITY:’IN DETAIL’ (PART TWO) -The Finished Detail As I imaged the section detail can be expend like below:

1. I Beam: a broad-flanged rolled steel joist suitable for a stanchion (axial load) or beam (bending load) 2. Glass Roof: Let Natural sunlight in, waterproofing 3. Joints: A way in which two or more things are joined, help to connect different structure members. 4. Roof Deck: The roof deck is the roofing material layer between the primary structural components (trusses & joists) and either insulative layers or weatherproofing layers in a typical roof system. 5. Loose Insulation: materials used to reduce the rate of heat transfer. 6. Flashing:A strip of metal used to stop water from penetrating a junction, typically of a roof with another surface 7 . Silicone seal: (Silicone sealing) When the edge seal of insulating glass is not covered, it is sealed off with a UV-resistant silicone sealer……. -Identification of waterproofing elements Glass Roof, flashings and silicone seal are the waterproofing element this is because of their function and material as mentioned before.

-Economic implications of decisions Comparing with other roof materials glass roof is more --Sustainability and environmental analysis (Carbon Footprint, embodied energy and recyclability pros and cons Glass Roof--With environmentally sustainable building practices playing a significant role in current and future building design practices, the use of glass roofs in commercial office buildings is become increasingly more prevalent. The main benefit of a glass roof is obvious. It lets in natural light, reducing the building’s reliance on electricity to generate artificial light. This sunlight can also help to warm the building in the winter months, reducing its dependence on airconditioning. However, in summer time it is too hot as we had observed last time in site. What’s more the as glass can be recycled it can reduce the footprint. -Where and why things go wrong (e.g. cracks, leaks, gaps)
