17 CURLY GIRL Children’s Book / What A Curly Day Date Made=Apr. 2012
Type=Children’s Book, Illustration Medium=Lead Pencil, Colored Pencils, Watercolor,
>> Introduction
“What a Curly Day” is talk about a little girl who born
with curly hair and proud of her naturally curl. The story describes how she explores this world by the new
things that are related to curly, and also how a little girl enjoys the novelties in her life. >> Inspiration
Why would I create the story about a curly hair girl?
When I was a child, in Taiwan, the girls who had curly
hair tend to perm their hair into straight. This
phenomenon really confused me, why people did not like what they had? People always change their style
and pursue something new, somehow in the end, they forget who they are and what they are chasing for. >> Purpose
Learn to appreciate what we naturally had, and try to discover the world just Like an innocent child.

18 STRIPE BOY Children’s Book / Stripe! Streak! Straight? Date Made=May. 2012
Type=Children’s Book, Illustration Medium=Lead Pencil, Colored Pencils, Watercolor,
>> Introduction
“Stripe! Streak! Straight?” continue the story line of “What a Curly Day!”. Similarly, a little boy who ardently loves the stripe clothes and how he explores this world
by something he is familiar with or new that are related to stripe, streak and straight. >> Inspiration
Why boys are always taught to be tough and rational?
The values of traditional society, boys must be strong
and rational, that’s why male have been labeled with “straight” for centuries. While in the modern society, boys can be keen on something feminine, not just
something like car, insect or sport etc. From the story, people can teach the children some notions about the sexual orientation indirectly. >> Purpose
Teach the children to pursue things they love and enjoy the process. Do not fear the secular vision and stand out for their innermost desire.

the
following year. However, in the end of the year, they found many pages of the past months are blank and then feel regret. That’s why I want to design a calendar which people can change the pages and fill in the date freely. But how to add some fun to the common calendars, I choose the theme – Seasons. Combine the colors, representative Taiwanese food and the Chinese characters for each season. - First Page
In the process of designing the seasons’
[4]
logos, I mainly combined some representative Taiwanese food into the design. And owing to the Taiwanese food, I tried to add some Chinese chic in the season logos - the Chinese characters. I designed the Chinese characters of each season and engraved the stamp by the eraser, then stamp it by the Chinese red Inkpad, which added the strong Chinese style in this project.
