Values Respect Integrity Accountability Excellence
We did it! The Park District is taking ownership of the former Tinley Park Mental Health Center property for only $1 and cleaning it up with state funding! Our #1 priority is to ensure this eyesore is restored for the community. We will be cleaning up all 280 acres with $15 million in state funding.
The Park District Board of Commissioner’s Remediate 280 Committee, led by Chair Lisa O’Donovan and Co-Chair Ashley Rubino, is overseeing the cleanup efforts together with leading environmental experts in Illinois, funded by state dollars. The Remediate 280 Committee is made up of a diverse set of Tinley Park residents from all areas of our community to provide input on the state-funded cleanup of the property. We are grateful for their collaborative efforts to ensure safe and proper clean-up of contamination at the site and provide regular updates to our community. All Tinley Park residents are welcome to attend and participate in the Committee’s meetings! Find more information at tinleyparkdistrict.org. We will be posting regular updates on the cleanup process as well as public meeting information of the Remediate 280 Committee. You can also sign up for our Remediate 280 newsletter to receive all the latest updates directly to your inbox. As we complete cleanup and enter the redevelopment stage of the project, we will be asking to hear from you! Importantly, gaming is strictly prohibited on the site's 280 acres, reflecting the communities feedback. We thank the leadership of our Board of Commissioners: President Marie Ryan, Chairwoman Lisa O'Donovan and Commissions Donald Cuba, Bernie O'Boyle and Ashley Rubino. They worked hard to get us to this pointof finally cleaning up this eyesore for our community! Stay tuned for more! Inappropriate behavior is defined as that which disrupts a recreation program/activity and requires a class instructor/staff member to call for a stop of the behavior due to its effect on other participants or on the instructor's ability to conduct the program. Such behavior may call for immediate and/or permanent dismissal of the individual from the program. Additional rules may be developed for individual programs/activities as deemed necessary by the staff.

Beginning Violin I
Let’s play violin! Using games, demonstration, and fun activities, children learn basic beginning concepts as well as a few tunes! We cover posture, parts of the violin, pizzicato (plucking), use of the bow and fingers, and learn to play some well-known tunes. We also do some beginning ear training and beginning rhythm reading skills. It is strongly suggested that parents purchase Suzuki Violin School Volume 1 from I Tunes and download it for daily happy listening in the car about 2-4 weeks prior to the start of class. Violin must be rented prior to class. Please do not purchase an instrument. Most children require smaller sized violins and renting is the most practical until children are 12-13. CREATIVE ARTS Tinley Park Community Theater with the Playhouse Theater
The long-standing community theater program at Tinley Park-Park District welcomes both seasoned and novice actors each spring and fall. Those new to the theater benefit from the knowledge of the experienced actors and directors in development of individual talents and skills needed to perform both classic and contemporary theater. Auditions consist of a short interview and reading of a brief monologue from the play. Bring a list of schedule conflicts and clothing sizes to the audition. Call 708-342-4200 to be added to the audition list or for more information.
Community Theater presents Sound Effects
The Potter family has a chance to hit the big time. Their local radio show has become the latest rage. Two network executives and a national sponsor are coming to town for a dinner meeting to put together the "million-dollar contract." But when the executives show up, confusion reigns! Identities have been switched, actors brought in to play members of the household and uninvited guests arrive. The national execs demand to view the performance of the radio show before any contracts are signed. What results is a chaotic disaster that is broadcast live, complete with the police riot squad, gunfire, and ill-timed screams. A resoundingly entertaining show! The law of the land says that the Prince must chose a bride by the end of his twenty-first birthday, but the princesses assembled by the queen just won’t do! The Prince escapes later that evening for a quick hunting expedition into the woods, where he nearly shoots at what turns out to be his one true love. Teen Theater presents Just Another High School Play
by Bryan Starchman A group of actors, who have apparently been abandoned by their drama teacher, must fend for themselves opening night in front of a live audience. Their teacher left them hanging because no one had been showing up to rehearsals. Now, no one is quite sure what they are supposed to do. The student assistant director and the stage manager step in, find a box of scripts which they pass out to the cast, and try to throw something together. What follows is a rollicking show full of physical comedy, gags, and satirical re-writings of many plays from Shakespeare to Albee.
