NCAMPELO WINES IS A FAMILY PROJECT Portugal has over 3000 years history in wine making. Ours, started with family ancestors, who owned vineyards around the country. Nuno Campelo is the third generation, and he went through a total renovation of the old family wine production, starting a complete new project.
STARTING IN MINHO VALLEYS Valinhas "Loureiro" DOC was the starting point of our project, in the Minho Valleys, embraced by the streams of the River Lima. The noble grape variety "Loureiro" brings all the character of the lands and the people who inhabit them. This first wine, as time went by, led us to explore other markets and create more differentiated wines to respond to their expectations.
REACHING SUNNY ALENTEJO Later, the family decided to focus on the south of Portugal – in Alentejo Region. A place with a wine tradition that dates back to roman times. Where the view gets lost in extensive plains, interrupted only by small hills. After a few years, the brand Grancave came to the surface, with White DOC Alentejo smooth, slightly acidic with aromas of tropical fruits. The Reds DOC Alentejo are full-bodied, rich in tannins and aromas of berries and red fruits.
LIVING A UNIQUE STORY IN DOURO In the middle of our journey, a passion for Douro Wines and Douro Region lead us to search for something as unique as the feelings of looking at the landscape of this Region. This story will take you to different places... Iter Douro DOC. This is our biggest challenge and our most difficult achievement. After the hard work of recovering an old vineyard that was abandoned for decades, and dealing with its centenarian vines, we made the dream come true, making this vineyard alive again.
