Henrietta Knight’s draft tops Ascot June Sale
The Ascot June Sale attracted a large crowd of potential buyers with many trainers and agents in attendance. The clearance rate of 82% once again showed the diversity of buyers and quality lots were well rewarded. Henrietta Knight’s decision to sell four lots at the Ascot June Sale provided a showpiece when realising £79,000. They where headed by the top lot of the day Gortenbuie, who had been placed 2nd in a Novice Handicap at Ludlow in March and created much interest. Trainer Donald McCain starting the bidding at £10,000, Andrew Turnell soon joined in, the under bidder was Julian Smith with the eventual buyer at £32,000 being Richard Newland. Julian Smith was successful then when paying £23,000 for Iona Days, a six year old who was third in a Handicap Chase in April for Knight. Matt Mitchell Head of Brightwells Bloodstock reported. “The sale illustrates the demand for quality horses here at Ascot, which benefit from being marketed to our extensive portfolio of clients who purchase at our Cheltenham Sales. We will be working hard to attract more quality entries to our July 12th Summer Sale”.
