Visitors can now not only experience Titanic Belfast’s nine interactive galleries but the last remaining White Star Line vessel and the biggest Titanic artefact in the world. Famous as a tender for Titanic, and a quarter of her size, guests can marvel at the original ornate doors, panels, plasterwork and staircases that greeted first and second class passengers on board, as well as learn about her role in two world wars.

Chief Executive, Tim Husbands MBE commented “Launch Day on 31st May 1911 was a proud day for Belfast – with over 100,000 spectators and journalists travelling from London and America to report on the launch of Titanic and watch as Olympic and the tender ships Nomadic and Traffic left the city. We are pleased to be able to reunite the stories of the two ships again after 105 years, as well as add real value and a unique heritage experience to the interpretative and interactive Titanic Belfast experience. ”

Titanic Belfast has retained its five-star experience rating after being the first visitor attraction in Northern Ireland to obtain the rating. The five-star accreditation was awarded by Tourism Northern Ireland and is designed to provide visitors with quality grading information on Northern Ireland’s tourist attractions. It is reflective of the world-class hospitality training staff have undertaken, and their dedication and passion in telling the world about RMS Titanic and Belfast’s proud maritime and ship-building heritage.

Date for your Diary

To achieve a star-rating, attractions are subject to checks from a mystery visitor and are assessed in up to six categories. Caroline Adams, TNI Quality & Standards Manager said: “Titanic Belfast has set the bar as high as it can go in terms of visitor numbers, quality, customer service and the visitor experience they are delivering. I encourage others to follow their five-star lead and make the Northern Ireland tourism industry truly outstanding.”

HMS Caroline, Northern Ireland’s newest visitor attraction HMS Caroline is a unique survivor from The Battle of Jutland and a compelling and fascinating heritage attraction for visitors to enjoy. Step on board HMS Caroline, Belfast’s newest visitor attraction and be blown away by a dynamic film showing the drama and devastation a battle can bring. View the cabins that have been impressively restored, as if the crew left the ship yesterday, and listen in on the everyday chatter in the Captain’s and Senior Officers’ cabins. Soak up the atmosphere as you learn about communication at sea in the Signal School during the 20th and 21st centuries. Try your hand at using a First World War signal lamp and see if you can crack a code using techniques like semaphore and flags.

Ascend to the Torpedo School to explore naval weaponry and dazzle. Learn all about war at sea, create your own dazzle design and see if you can evade an enemy attack. The Virtual Access Suite provides access to remote and hidden areas of HMS Caroline. Learn how the ship works with interactive exhibits and take control of HMS Caroline in the Virtual Bridge. Here you will also learn about Caroline’s impact in Belfast – her home for 90 years. The historic spaces on HMS Caroline include the Captain’s Quarters, Marines’

Mess, and Washplace as well as the very important Engine Rooms, Sick Bay and Galley. All of these spaces have been restored to look as they did in 1916, the year that Caroline was part of one of the largest naval battles in history – the Battle of Jutland. Walk along Caroline’s decks and see the ship’s replica 6-inch and 4-inch guns. Don’t forget to head up to the Navigating Bridge where you can visit the Captain’s Sea Cabin.
