Design // Identity / Branding

eNsu-Buga eNsu-Buga is an independent fashion brand based in London. Elizabeth eNsu-Buga the head designer came to me in order to develop her brand identity. She wanted the brand to be almost completely monochrome with a minimal sophisticated aesthetic. I decided to go for the serif type-face ‘Copperplate Gothic Light’ with the smaller type being ‘Futura - medium’. I then applied my chosen typographic style to create a sleek logo with the added nuance; a pin that provided an equally sharp look.

Design // Identity / Art

Gneng Poster Design Gneng is a psychedelic kraut-rock band I enjoyed being involved in greatly. When we decided we were ready to play live we wanted to have a visual identity we could use for posters and other artwork we may have needed later on.

As a graphic designer, I was given the task which I took on with a lot of enthusiasm. I decided first on a strong colour palette with the idea of experimenting with such colours. Once I purchased the paints with the hex codes I had been playing with on Illustrator I proceeded to put a giant tarp in my living-room and quite frankly just experimented with until I found visually stunning methods which I continued to apply.

Design // UI / UX

Swap App UI/UX Swap App is a concept app which does very much what it says on the tin. It is an app that allows people to swap items in their local area using the functionality of Tinder to do so simply and effectively.

I designed the UI and UX to try and push my friend to develop the idea (his idea I should add)... Sadly he hasn’t gone on to do so.

Design // Editorial / Layout

Typography In Album Artwork This book on typography in album artwork is my first attempt at editorial design. The project from my second year of university was to take an article and transform the text into our own layout in book form.

Design // Identity / Branding

Laughland Jones Laughland Jones is an interior design firm based in Kent that specialise in luxury alpine properties. I was given the task designing a

re-brand after they felt their old designs were a little dated and stale.

I started by looking at a number of their mood

boards and consequential projects. This gave me an idea of their clients’ preferred aesthetic style meaning I could keep my design unified and consistent. I then looks into luxury goods from Switzerland and other neighboring alpine countries which furthered my idea of how to

represent their firm semiotically appropriate.

To the right you can see the end result including colour palette, logos, photographic style, typefaces and a foundational web UI.

Matt’s Gardening Matt’s Gardening is currently a small gardening business based in Canterbury, Kent. They were looking to expand the business and came to me for help with their marketing and branding.

The following designs are particularly garish which might not appeal to the average minimalist looking for a tasteful aesthetic however these designs are created towards functionality. Their function is to stand out and make a recognisable mark wherever the team went, a sort of identifiable reference tattooed to the company at the same time as reflecting their proposition and providing an extra level of safety.

There is much more print collateral and even a website now for Matt’s Gardening that you can see on my website: TizerStudio.com

Design // UI / UX

Huskr.com UI/UX Huskr is an online business that a developer and I created. It provided crowd deals for curated independent ecommerce sites, My duties amongst our two man team were as marketer and designer whether that be for the UI / UX of the website and any advertisements, media packs etc.

Design // Identity / Branding

Jonny Sandwich I have very recently started helping ‘Jonny Sandwich’, a sandwich bar currently hidden in a small business cluster with big ambitions, a growing reputation and quite frankly the best sandwiches I have ever had.

My aim was to help them establish an identifiable brand that reflects their very high standards, bring in more contracted catering work, create a website and provide marketing and SEO support. However due to a lack of budget the project was closed early at the stage of logo design. The logo we went for you can see in the image of the prototype bag.

11

Photography // Introduction

Photography Photography is a huge part of my life and I intend to keep it going, whether that be in my work life or in my spare time.

Following are some examples of varying photographic disciplines that I have explored.

12

Photography // Architectural

Architectural In the words of Coco Chanel, “an interior is the natural projection of the soul,” and I couldn’t agree more. Following this philosophy, with each project I aim to capture the individual spirit of all spaces I document.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with some very creative clients. These have included independent business owners and top interior designers/architects. In turn, I have photographed a vast array of properties.

13

Photography // Product

Product Product photography, or still life photography, is essentially a three part process: the background design and set-up, the lighting, and the composition. These three elements, when used correctly, should reflect accurately the client’s brand identity, the desired style of this identity, and to show off certain specific elements of the product which want to be emphasised.

I’ve been privileged enough to photograph some great brands’ products including - Nike, Asahi, Shepherd Neame, Angry Orchard, Charlotte Mary Pack’s fantastic ceramic work, and many more.

14

Photography // Jewelry

Jewellery In many ways, jewellery photography is possibly the most complicated niche of photography. The reflective, transparent, and translucent nature of jewellery provides a number of challenges. These can all be overcome by a strong collaboration between lighting and post production, neither one less important than the other.

I became very interested in photographing jewellery after being exposed to the difficulties of photographing a chrome bullet-shaped trophy for Shepherd Neame. Ever since then I have flourished in the challenges presented by juggling both presenting the creative vision my clients and I have for the products, and the intrinsic nature of these demanding materials.

15

Photography // Bands

Bands I’ve been lucky enough to have the privilege of meeting and photographing bands such as Beck, The Strokes, and Future Islands. Photographing at large events can be a fairly complex procedure, due to the short window you have to take shots and the amount of photographers you are competing with to atain the best angles. This means having the correct settings, lenses, and angles within seconds at a time.

16

Photography // Introduction

Events Events photography is probably the most enjoyable photographic form due to the lively environments that it takes you to. It is important to use the correct tools in the correct ways at events, especially when the sun goes down. For example, when to use flash and when not to, making sure you have the right camera and flash settings, what lenses to have to hand and to back up imagery quickly during appropriate intervals.

Working with people, I acknowledge the importance of being approachable and being able to keep an eye on where the action is at all times.

17

Photography // Portraits

Portraits Ideally, portrait photography will include a perfect collaboration between: fashion, makeup, hair, lighting, and framing. As the photographer, my role includes advising on whether there is any glare for the makeup artist to amend, and asking the hair stylists to reposition their subjects’ hair when needed. However, I always have control of the lighting and framing, depending on the brief provided.

18

Photography // Introduction

Food & Drink As a foodie myself, it is a delight to gain food photography work. Travelling to beautifully decorated and well-curated restaurants to document their menus is something I execute with precision. I do this by manipulating the lighting and background both artistically and thematically with the restaurant’s brand and style.

Every food photoshoot I perform requires heavy planning in order to ensure the correct equipment, props and backdrops are brought to location. Does the client want studio lit, sharper shots, or soft, naturally-lit images? Should I use infinity backdrops or natural interiors? Questions like these are important to ask in order to make sure the correct mood is created and the correct equipment and props are to hand.

19

Photography // Introduction

Wedding Wedding photography is a very demanding photographic practice. There is a huge amount of pressure in an often fast-paced environment to capture unique moments that are often over in a heartbeat. It is essential to maintain a strong level of approachability, and is also just as important to know when to be appropriately discreet in certain situations. This unique form of photography has developed my skills hugely in a number of ways, primarily my abilities to work quickly and accurately.

20

Photography // Introduction

Corporate Corporate photography is all about shooting photographs for companies’ advertising, documentation, and PR in the best possible light (in all senses of the word light!). I always bring my studio lighting to locations when conducting corporate photography, so as to utilise, when appropriate, the control of light, and to produce crisp, stock-like images. Whether it is taking team shots, imagery of the facilities, or life shots within the workplace, it is important to consider the most effective framing and subject matter. Therefore, it is very useful to know prior to the shoot what the images’ function/s will be.
