Introduction Content
For a lot of photographers, photography is their life; I am no exception to this rule. I was gifted my first DSLR when I was 16 years old and that moment was the beginning of the rest of my life.
I quickly became excited by all the ways a manual camera could be experimented with which in tail led me to analogue cameras and the experimental possibilities they provided. Nowadays I find myself appreciating many forms of designed beauty and have seamlessly reflected these interests in my specialties.
I adore fashion and I’m mesmerised by the sophisticated nature of many beauty product’s packaging; being a part of creatively documenting these areas is a deep pleasure of mine.

AW22
Ruskin is fashion retailer with a carefully curated collection of beautifully-made clothing for men & women in the heart of Whitstable.
When I spoke with Ruskin I quickly identified that their previous efforts to sell their clothing photographically neglected to embrace their iconic location. As a company with a majority of sales being made at their brick and motor store I wanted to compound in the imagery both Whitstable and their curation. The campaign proved to be their most successful campaign and I believe this may be largely due to the large local following that was represented at long last as well as the visitor that was brought back to their positive experience in Whitstable and their shop,

This test-shoot for Georgia buckland particularly deepened my appreciation for collaborative work. Georgia has an eye for styling and direction that is truly inspiring and these images wouldn’t be the same without her. This series is the first we cooked up together. We spent ages planning out ambitious shoots in all kinds of audacious locations however we needed to test our working relationship out and after exploring pixel by pixel our hometown. This secret rooftop spot just made sense for the brutalist styled outfits picked out by Georgia.

Copperfield

Copperfield will be coming up quite a bit in this document. I worked for Copperfield as their photographer and graphic designer for 3 years and this particular campaign was my very first for them. A lot of Copperfield’s curation, come winter, is functional utility-wear. With a tight budget plus the need to illustrate the brand message of catering to the everyday man, Herne Bay really provided the perfect choice for location; a true salt of the earth town so full of character, as well as close to home. The brisk coastal day gave me a sensational backdrop, allowing me to highlight a grittiness that wasn’t immediately obvious in the collection Copperfield was selling at the time. The unapologetic nostalgia of the arcade gave us scope to carry the shoot into the evening, utilising the bright arcade lights to show off the technical materials in a more off-piste manner.

During the UK’s first lockdown work was disrupted in ways previously unimagined. When restrictions were eased at the end of springtime, a window of opportunity arose. My brother and I left the house and ventured to the nearby village of Bridge with a selection of Spring 2020 clothing from brands ‘Barena’ ‘And Wander’ and ‘Barena’. We took the first outfit from ‘And Wander’, to a wooded part of the village that suited the utility style of the outfit. We then used quaint households with complimentary accent colours to be the backdrop of the Italian outfits by ‘Barena’.

It’s important to be able to shoot on a plain background and utilise nothing but lighting to display an outfit. These images were used on Copperfield’s website, social media and a downloadable lookbook to showcase their AW21 stock. We used local artists and skaters to model the menswear including musicians, Raven Bush (Kate Bush’s nephew), MPH (an up and coming garage producer) and skaters, Curtis Johnson (signed by Altar and Palm Bay Skate) and Jimmy Rahman, Canterbury’s most influential skateboarder who heads the scene.

Haoma
The wonderful Enis Anteplioglu approached me to photograph his product range of beauty products. He wanted the products ranges to be presented in their own mystical environments and briefs like these are exciting for any photographer. After exploring the unique functions of each range and the desired aesthetic utilising pop-colours led me to dress sets using a series of wood cut blocks, coloured papers, floral devices and even mist and clouds made with creative solutions.

Canterbury is a prolific university city with a 60% population of students. Copperfield therefore wanted to promote items they stocked that would compliment any work space. I put together their stationary, coffee items from Kinto, and items that make a work space cosier such as a speaker, plants and a candle.

When photographing this collaborative aftershave by YMC and Bon Parfumeur I needed to use the retailer’s aesthetic whilst not sacrificing the two brand’s. I decided to use a clean backdrop and frame the product with ingredients used as a base in the aftershave.

The brief was simple; display both pairs of CDG x Asics Lyte IIIs in one image. I chose to shoot the different trainers individually by throwing them in the air and taking a series of shots to allow for varying options of angles. I then used Photoshop to paste in the images for the different dimensions dependent on the hosting context, whether that be a homepage image, a social post, a social story etc.

CDG released a series of perfumes with the product design being very industrial and brutalist. I wanted to create a complimentary backdrop to accompany the products and creative planning led me to creating a textural and somewhat dystopian surface using shattered slate. The effect created an otherworldly look that could be the surface of another planet.

CDG Wallets
When you have a beautifully made series of products with iconic and bold branding sometimes the best approach is one of simplicity. I wanted the products to hold their own and this angle led me creating almost invisible shelves made of glass that provided the ability to overlap and display the complete series whilst negating the potential to distract from the products themselves.

Nike Airforce 1 suede edition
I was commissioned by the agency ‘Exposure’, to photograph an event held in Shoreditch Nails to promote the new Nike Airforce 1Suede Edition. I was to document selected influencers having their Nike branded nails done with their new trainers. There was a wooden box with a hole in the bottom that was meant to be used as a plant display, however it turned out to be a perfect device to display both the trainers and the nail-art.
