Yes, it takes long and whilst the prescribe periods are running, and with the delays in service by the sheriff, you incur additional cost in water and electricity consumption, rates and taxes, as well as the bond. These can all be recovered from the tenant once evicted, including the repairs to the property once the tenant has vacated it. It is therefore of utmost importance to carefully consider applications of prospective tenants, to have a duly drafted lease agreement with all the necessary and relevant protection in it and most importantly, to carefully manage the lease. CAPTAIN’s report As some of you may have noticed, we have a new GPS system on our Club Carts. The GPS system is dialled into the flag location giving you an accurate distance. The system also provides Jannes and his team with an improved means of controlling the location of the carts specifically on corporate days. If there are any members who would like to have a system installed on their Golf Cart, please have a chat with Jannes. The system will be installed at a monthly rental of R300 on a fixed contract. If you were unable to attend the Club and Homeowners AGM’s, a flood master plan was discussed and briefed to all concerned. A number of people have been working on this plan that focuses on preventative measures and long term solutions to the ongoing flood issue. Over the forthcoming months, you will

see the start of the implementation of the plan that will rectify immediate issues and then work on longer term areas that need addressing. I would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding over this period as we continue to improve your golfing experience. It is amazing how a little black frost can take a course from a light shade of green to an even lighter shade of brown, but that is exactly what happened to our course recently. Even though everything looks dead, I am impressed at how receptive our greens still are. I would request that over this winter period, we all pay a little more attention to our pitchmarks and divots to ensure that as spring arrives, we are in a position to see the benefits of these endeavours. We also ask that those of you who use golf carts, to kindly stay on the cart path in and around the greens and tees as excessive wear and tear will kill the roots of the grass and make rehabilitation a long, drawn out affair. CAPTAIN’s report

Time flies when you’re having fun. We are already well into our winter season and the “Early Birds” new winter time has kicked off at 11am on a Thursday and with some fairly chilly days, all seem to be enjoying the afternoon times more. May was a very busy golfing month. The Els Club at Copperleaf hosted their ladies open on 20 May and a number of our Centurion ladies participated. The feedback was that it went down very well. It’s lovely to see our ladies supporting the other clubs. It was a very early start for the Woodhill CC ladies open that took place on 22 May. Prize giving was hosted in the form of a picnic on the grass. Such fun. Congratulations to some of our ladies that actually won prizes at that event.

A few Lucky Draws were handed over to our ladies. Our Saturday Ladies league teams have been hard at work but regretfully lost to the Els Club team on 31 May. The ladies will, however, not give up and give their best for all the future games. Our Mixed League has also kicked off and we will be sure to report back on their progress. As you’re all aware, 9 August is National Women’s day and coincides with our charity golf day. We ask that all of you please open your hands and hearts for this event as the proceeds are always for a very good cause. If you’d like to get involved, please contact me on 071 898 2445 or email tillajanssen33@gmail.com.

There was no end to the May events and I feverishly planned my first Ladies open as Captain at Centurion Country Club. Our very own Ladies Open was planned for 29 May and was very well supported. A big thank you to all that sponsored their old golf shoes that was used as centre pieces thanks to the amazing support and assistance of Florence Vermeulen, Joey du Toit and Tanya Hechter. The centre pieces were extremely well received and I’m grateful for all the help. Also a big “THANK YOU” to all my sponsors who very unselfishly sponsored wonderful prizes towards this day and this ensured that 16 prizes were handed out.
