and creativity brought it all together. I didn’t realize it at the time, but at that very moment the well laid career plans I had made for my life would be thrown out the window to make way for my love for weddings. Fast forward many years, and while my passion for weddings has never changed, my career path in the wedding industry certainly has. I was lucky enough to meet and marry someone who is just as crazy about weddings and events as I am, and after planning hundreds of destination weddings together, we founded Aisle Planner in 2013 to fill a need for online planning and business management tools for wedding professionals. In 2017, we launched The Aisle Guide as an online wedding magazine and planning resource to inspire couples and showcase our community of talented wedding pros. While we’ve come a long way over the years, I’ll never forget how this journey started—with a magazine and the excitement sparked from its pages. This year, The Aisle Guide turns five and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than to bring our online magazine to life in a print publication filled with beautiful weddings and helpful planning advice from our community of wedding pros. As a teenager, I lived and breathed magazines. I loved flipping through the carefully curated pages and finding beautiful inspiration, cutting out my favorite pieces to create something uniquely mine. Before Pinterest, we taped the prettiest wedding pictures on our walls or gave them a home in our binders. We all yearn for the connection and nostalgia of a time past. Trends circulate but nothing ever truly goes out of style. Like the magic of taking a Polaroid picture even if we have our high-resolution cell phone cameras, or visiting a library even if our Kindle can hold hundreds of books. There’s something incredibly special about the tangible feeling of getting to hold endless possibilities in our hands. So we decided to create the best of both worlds by marrying the old with the new! It’s an absolute dream come true to present our debut print magazine, The Aisle—an extension of The Aisle Guide, our premier digital platform for gorgeous inspiration, pro tips, and the connection to leading event experts across the globe. There’s always something magical about fireworks, but sadly, most fireworks are illegal. As for the commonly used sparklers, those can also be dangerous when you’re mixing fire and (often) inebriated guests. Instead, Garibay recommends showcasing smaller unexpected surprises as the event unfolds, so all the guests can enjoy the experiences—not just those who stay until the end. While couples opted for dessert buffets in an effort to be different, the wedding cake is definitely making a comeback—but not just a plain buttercream cake or small cutting cake. “A tiered cake that tastes as good as it looks with an intentional design in line with the aesthetic is the centerpiece of the reception,” explains Garibay. “It should complement the overall event design and tie in details from other aspects of the wedding.”

For spring, Samantha shows a brighter color palette with orange, pink, peach, and yellow tones. Mixing greenery, gold accents, and more blush tones, she created a simple yet elegant table. This option would be beautiful outdoors in April or May. 2

SUMMER

Here’s a fun example of soft pastel florals with greenery and blush, gray, and gold accents. It was paired with a simple ivory menu and hanging napkin fold. Place cards would be a welcome addition as well. This could be wonderful for an outdoor wedding during the summer months. 3

TRADITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Traditional photography is what you probably think of when picturing classic wedding photos, like the ones your parents have framed in their house. Typically posed and shot straight-on at eye level, traditional photography isn’t particularly creative, but its simplistic nature ensures your photos stand the test of time. All photographers will likely incorporate this style into your big day when shooting portraits of you, your family, and your wedding party. PHOTOJOURNALISTIC PHOTOGRAPHY

Photojournalistic photography is all about telling a story with images, the same way a journalist would tell a story using words. A wedding photographer who specializes in this style will typically work to capture candid shots that weave together the narrative of your wedding day. he design team of RMBO Collective and Heather Kincaid Photography created an intimate, thoughtful wedding scenario for a post-Covid world. They stripped away the fanfare of weddings of the past in favor of intimate moments for the couple to share, like getting ready together, sharing a meal, cutting their wedding cake, enjoying their first dance, and toasting to their union. The design aesthetic is a

study of contrast—bringing softness into a hard space, letting light dance in the shadows, and creating joy amid the challenges of our present. The Revery LA provided the perfect backdrop for the neutral color palette with faded winter hues of sand, bone, and shades of gray. The dramatic fringe curtain installation set an ethereal tone while creating a translucent divider to bring intimacy to the large studio. Geometric shapes, from lines to circles, made multiple appearances, from the dining chairs to the stunning yet simple cake. The floral installation hanging above the dining table added whimsy, and the collection of hurricane candles cast a romantic glow. This styled editorial aspires to help couples feel inspired by love, hopeful for the future, and excited to see the magic that can be created in a small setting.

The concept for the shoot came from our simple desire to study the deep shadows cast during wintertime. From there, the idea of light/shadow, positivity/negativity, and hard/soft evolved. The design aesthetic is a study in contrasts: bringing softness into a hard space, letting light dance in the winter shadows, and creating joy amid the challenges of our present. W H AT WA S YO U R FAVO R I T E D É CO R D E TA I L? W H Y ? The fringe curtain served an important purpose, from framing the space to providing a whimsical detail to explore. It created a strong visual moment, provided incredible movement, cast shadows, and allowed the models to flow between it. WE LOVED THE ROUND CUT OUTS I N T H E S TAT I O N E RY A N D U N I Q U E T O U C H E S . W H AT WA S T H E I N S P I R AT I O N B E H I N D T H O S E L O V E LY L I T T L E D E TA I L S ? We’ve got to give a shout-out to the incredible dining chairs! They truly inspired so much of the shoot, from their arched form to their metallic spindle base. The fringe detail was also repeated throughout. From there, the paper goods mimicked the chair and fringe shapes, and the cut outs within the paper goods helped to cast shadows and light, which were big design themes as well.

Our most popular flavor is vanilla praline. We make caramelized pecans in-house and puree FOOD & DRINK

them into a paste to add to the buttercream and spread between the layers. We also chop up crunchy praline pieces, so you get praline three ways. The finishing touch is the caramel syrup that we add to our brown sugar vanilla cake. It’s perfect for someone who wants a lighter flavor with some rich elements. My personal favorite is our blood orange olive oil cake. This cake was inspired by my time spent studying abroad in Italy at the height of the blood orange season. The cake itself is a citrus almond cake made with olive oil instead of butter. The texture is light and spongy, and the flavor could stand on its own as a coffee cake. My best advice is to stay true to yourself. You know what you love. Your wedding is an expression of who you are as a couple. I wouldn’t worry about other people’s tastes or expectations. We hear all the time that our more adventurous flavors or designs aren’t really “wedding cake” appropriate. Honestly, there are no rules anymore. Just be yourself and have fun with it!

INGREDIENTS: – 1 cup all-purpose flour – 1/2 cup blanched or natural almond flour – 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder – 1 tsp. kosher salt – 3 large eggs – 3/4 cup granulated sugar – 1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil – 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract – 1/4 tsp. pure almond extract – Grated zest of 1 ½ medium lemons – 1/2 cup orange juice DIRECTIONS: 1.

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or springform pan and set aside.

2 . In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, al-

mond flour, baking powder, and salt until thoroughly combined, then set aside. 3 . Crack the eggs into a large mixing bowl and whisk

them lightly to break up the yolks. Add the sugar to the bowl and whisk thoroughly until combined, about 30 seconds. Add the olive oil and whisk until the mixture is a bit lighter in color and has thickened, about 2–3 minutes. Whisk in the extracts and zest, followed by the orange juice, and whisk to combine. 4 . Add the dry ingredients to the bowl and whisk until

Back when I was first starting out, one of my employees and I made a cake as a gift for her sister. Because the wedding was closer to my parent’s house than the bakery, we decided to finish decorating the cake there. The house was full of other guests going in and out so the air conditioning wasn’t working very well and the cake got too warm. We stacked the warm tiers fully before transporting the cake down my parent’s gravel driveway. Within 20 minutes, the middle tier of the cake had collapsed. I had to rush home and salvage the remaining cake. Luckily, I was able to bring it to the venue on time, piping frantically in the back of the car as my mom drove me to the venue. The couple loved the cake, but I was crushed that it wasn’t as spectacular as we had originally intended. his pretty-in-pink unconventional elopement by the sea is blooming with possibility. The aim of this editorial was to inspire creative, non-tra-

ditional, and innovative couples who are drawn to the idea of having an elopement near the sea. The Beacon House is a lovely historical home by the beach in Whitstable, Kent, England. Built at the turn of last century, the Beacon House stands above a natural promontory that stretches out to sea—with a twinkling view that changes with the tides. The house has a New England feel to it with its wide wooden frontage, distinctive veranda, and wraparound decking. The owners of the house still live in it, looking after it and curating all the beautiful details that tell the story of the property's past. The delicate seashell name cards and coral intertwined with the florals are some of the many ocean elements that invoke joyous imagery. Full of energy, this is a celebration centered around a couple who chooses to fill their elopement day with meaningful luxuries, and plenty of time for adventure too! The palette is playful with a tonal wonderland of pink, framed by crisp black lines—colorful, while still being refined. Pink isn't often a color associated with the sea, but it complements all the whites, blues, and greens of the landscape in a refreshing way. Everything from the sugar wisps on the cake to the translucent vellum of the stationery tells the story of the contradictions of the sea: the immense power of waves crashing on a cliffside, bubbling over the quiet haven just below the surface. The design inspiration is marine and summery, but still fresh and new—a contemporary interpretation of beachy, boho vibes. An intimate day like this can be all the more magical!

We used tulle, pearls, and rope to make the tablescape and ceremony tactile, intentionally juxtaposing soft lines with the natural, jagged textures of barnacles and shells. I had a ready-to-wear collection, Korovilas, from 2010 to about 2018. The brand focused on dresses, incorporating artisanal and novelty techniques into casual and event looks, but customers also came to us for special occasions. We didn’t want to cloud the original concept, so we started a new bridal and event spinoff. FASHION & BE AUT Y

BHLDN had been buying from the line before that second collection started, but the new focus further fostered our relationship. Now, I work with BHLDN to create the same kinds of artisanal novelties for their own-brand collection. I love the latest collection with BHLDN. This latest collection started as a series of vignettes inspired by different facets of the Regency period. We looked at writers, popular colors, artwork motifs in linens, antique fabrications we love today, and even wallpaper. I broke that inspiration down through various lenses, then put it back together to capture versions that would suit the many sides of our customer. That overarching concept shaped a very cohesive collection. The team was captivated by Bridgerton, so we dug into fashion history from the Regency period for BHLDN Blue Label, particularly how casual fabrics like lawn cottons and organdies were made to look so luxurious. We wanted to put those fabrications through the filter of luxe techniques for a high/low mix. BHLDN Blue Label offers a range of fairly classic shapes paired with fabrications that make them unique and interesting, yet still totally wearable. There are some riffs on architectural pleating and fashion-forward silhouettes, but it’s really all about color, technique, fabric manipulation, and the fabrics themselves. You’ll discover faille, taffeta, chiffon, organdy, cotton voile, organza, and a range of tulle qualities that go beyond the expected bridal tulle into more cotton gauze-y textures. There are, of course, variations on ivory, but this collection also plays with prints, blushes, and tea shades for the bride who wants that “golden” moment.

I’m very hands-on in my design life, but my wedding dress was different. I found some insane Art Nouveau tablecloths at an antique fair, threw them on the form, draped them into a look, sketched the look, and sent it to my factory with six weeks to go. I don’t know what I was thinking, but it arrived four days before the wedding and fit perfectly! The gown was cotton-y gauze (my first foray into casual as fancy) with antique brass and ivory cutwork. Our wedding was Art Nouveau-inspired, so that brass detailing became a threadline with my gown as the anchor. The Presidential is simply a square fold with the visible part straight across. You just fold the square into a rectangle and make sure the top is straight once it’s in your pocket. The Puff is even easier because it doesn’t have to be perfect. Lay the square flat and pinch the center with two or three fingers before stuffing it into your pocket. aniel and Brittany’s love story began much like a romantic comedy— at a rooftop party above a noodle factory in Chinatown. They talked the night away while enjoying the incredible views of Manhattan and Brooklyn, and they haven’t looked back since. After 10 years, Daniel proposed to Brittany in the fall of 2019 by tying the ring around their

miniature poodle, Stella. Brittany came home to the surprise of a lifetime, Daniel on one knee and an engagement dinner with all of their loved ones at their favorite restaurant, Bowery Meat Company. Like many engaged couples, Daniel and Brittany had to push their wedding date due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They took the delay as a gift in disguise because it changed their wedding season to spring and inspired the bright addition of fuchsia to the sand and saddle-brown color palette. The weather was perfect, guests were vaccinated, and the outdoor venue made their special day safe and enjoyable for everyone. The wedding design inspiration was Hill Country meets NYC glam, so naturally the couple fell in love with Mae’s Ridge because of its rolling hills and modern aesthetic. Brittany’s goal was to marry her love of NYC sophistication with her country roots. Daniel and Brittany’s favorite part of their wedding day was after they were pronounced husband and wife and they walked down the aisle hand in hand as a married couple for the first time. Another highlight was the surprise sparkler cannon exit! Such a magical way to end the night.

We also brought in the cutest dusty pink ceremony chairs, which were the perfect accent to the fuchsia mixed with all the earthy browns. Brittany always wanted to do something different for her big day, so all her wedding choices reflected that!

aylor and Bray met at Berkshire School in Massachusetts in 2011 but they didn’t date until 7 years later when they were both living in Southern California. Bray took Taylor to the Marine Corp Ball, which led to their first official date in Ven-

ice, California. They went surfing and ate PB&J sandwiches on the back of Bray’s pickup truck. On January 25th, 2020, they got engaged during a sunset picnic at El Matador Beach. Just as the sun was about to set, they walked down to the water and Bray got down on one knee. Both of their families got to witness this beautiful moment at the top of the cliffs. They got married on May 1st, 2021, at the historic French Huguenot Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Cocktail Hour was hosted on a boat sailing through the harbor from downtown to Daniel Island for the reception. Local musician Josh Hughett performed on the boat, and guests sipped cocktails from custom mugs as they cruised the harbor. The reception was hosted at the Daniel Island Club on the back lawn overlooking the marsh and a breathtaking sunset. The wedding had a coastal theme with an elegant yet laid-back vibe. The design included neutrals and blues with wood, rattan elements, and seagrass accents. The reception showcased an assortment of medium and large bamboo-wrapped lanterns that illuminated the night. The tablescapes featured a honey rattan charger, blue swirl dinner plates, and geometric salad plates with wood gold flatware. Each setting had a hand-calligraphed wood napkin ring with each guest's name. They incorporated some military traditions like cutting the wedding cake with Bray’s Marine Officer Sword. Taylor and Bray shared their first dance to Ray LaMontagne’s “You Are the Best Thing” under a stunning canopy of fairy lights. They continued to dance the night away to the tunes of the Atlanta Party Band with all of their family and friends. It was the happiest day of their lives, and they couldn’t stop smiling. Love truly filled the air that night.

Held at a stunning estate in Woodside, California, the venue’s layout is so versatile it offers a space for a ceremony in the courtyard, a cocktail hour by the pool, and the most perfect greenhouse reception! It’s the attention to detail and special touches, like the rounded chairs that mirror the arches in the architecture, that really marry the organic décor to the minimalistic design. The yellow, orange, and tan hues in the color palette, the textures, and the unique boho pieces complement the natural beauty of each space in the estate. Draping lush greenery meets

W H AT WA S YO U R FAVO R I T E D É CO R D E TA I L? W H Y ? The ceremony chairs were everything! Just incredible in that space, especially paired with the flower arch. And the paper products made by Bourne Paper Co. used a combination of wood and fabric. It really played to the overall design of the shoot—romantic and whimsical meets a little bit of structure!

W H AT I N S P I R E D T H E CO L O R PA L E T T E F O R T H E DESIGN? We wanted to go with relatable but not overdone. I love mixing colors in ways you wouldn't think. Bright colors paired with muted jewel tones are the two trends that we wanted to combine. We chose oranges, yellows, and other bold colors to complement the natural beauty of the venue and just had fun with it! The venue was a perfect backdrop for that creativity.
