3.4 Recreational opportunities and Foreshore reserves RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES Lake Taupo-nui-a -Tia and its margins are accessible to a wide variety of passive and active recreational activities. There is untapped potential for additional recreational activities. FORESHORE RESERVES Extensive lakeshore reserves provide public access to the Lake and the opportunity to enjoy the scenery and recreation activities on its margins. Foreshore reserves also act as a buffer in urban areas and protect the views for homeowners in the area.
