EMAIL

We use Mailchimp as the platform for our email distribution and campaigns. Typically, an email campaign may have between 7,000 to 9,000 recipients in the distribution list.

Email is often used to provide key updates on Trust Board business to members such as advance notice of a media statement, education grant information or an e-link to the annual report.

Te Kōtuku is the newsletter of the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board, the Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust and the Ngāti Tūwharetoa Fisheries Trust.

Over the reporting period we published three issues. We aim to publish Te Kōtuku on a quarterly basis. To help maintain production costs we provide a printed copy to kaumātua aged 60 years+ who have a postal address. Te Kōtuku is also available on our website www.tuwharetoa.co.nz/publications

SOCIAL MEDIA

FaceBook is our primary social media channel and enables us to share key information, announcements and updates in a quick and timely manner.

There are currently more than 7,500 followers of our page. We also strive to support our fellow Tūwharetoa entities by resharing their key updates. Video communications are often a popular choice with more people watching online video content than ever before. Since 2017 we have maintained a YouTube channel.

Our most popular videos include COVID-19 messages from Ariki Tā Tumu te Heuheu. There are currently 137 subscribers to our YouTube channel which features 23 videos.

WEBSITE

Our website is a key communications resource which houses key information about us and our mahi.

To help improve our handling and management of education and member registrations we now accept these online.

We encourage people to apply online as it enables us to turn around processing more quickly than previously.

Online applications also enable automated email messages to be generated instantly to help keep people informed about the progress or status of their application.

TE REO MĀORI CONTENT

E tautoko ana mātou te whakaputa o te reo Māori kei roto i mātou pānui ki te iwi. Kei te tipu tonu matou kei roto i tenei ahuatanga. Ko tā matou tūmanako, kia whakanui ngā pukenga me te kaha o reo Māori o roto o a matou poari me ngā kaimahi hoki.

FINANCIAL ACUMEN AND MANAGEMENT

We have achieved a non-qualified audit report. This is a pleasing outcome as it demonstrates the professionalism and high standards of internal control and accountability which exist.

We have stringent internal controls in place to ensure transparent financial management practices and visibility of resources and assets.

INDEPENDENT REPORTING

We receive independent quarterly reporting from My Fiduciary. Their representatives also present reports to the Trust Board in person.

LONG TERM CASHFLOW

We have a Treasury Policy in place to ensure we follow and apply best practice relating to cash management. Again, this is a further internal control to ensure robust policies and procedures are in place.

RISK MANAGEMENT

Managing risk to ensure the protection of our resources and people is important. We regularly maintain a Risk Register which is part of our Risk Framework. This enables us to identity risks and develop suitable tactics and controls to minimise any occurrence or damage.
