About Us
The New Black Film Collective (TNBFC) exists to create and cultivate a vibrant Black ecosystem in the UK film and TV sector by championing Black-led film production, distribution, exhibition and preserving Black filmmaking and television.
We do this with a range of activities and events annually, many of which have partnership opportunities attached.
In our 10th anniversary year, we aim to expand our membership of filmmakers and exhibitors nationwide committed to Black-led stories and host our biggest XPO yet.
TNB XPO was borne out of a need to counter systemic racism and exclusion. It is our flagship event, attracting over 300 Black creatives to a 1 day symposium in London, and reaching a global community online.
We host preview screenings and events in cinemas open to the public, all of which foregrounds Black-led narratives and create a place for discussion and engagement.
We develop and pioneer programmes for Black creatives in film and HETV to learn new skills or hone their practice as well as initiatives that unblock career pathways into the sector.
We partner with allies and progressive organisations to ensure opportunities for Black creatives are available, accessible and equitable.
The second annual TNB XPO bringing together the screen indus to showcase Black talent, create a solid and supportive network and share knowledge from a diverse range of experts.

Gathering Black creatives and practitioners to connect the dots, fill the gaps and solidify a supply chain for the lifecycle of Black films.
Developing an ecosystem that will elevate production levels, standard of content and routes to market (domestic and overseas) resulting in box office success, and in some cases, demonstrable social impact.
TNB XPO has already organically blossomed into an arena to harness and mobilise Black talent. It combines the best of some existing high-profile symposia, such as Woman With a Movie Camera Summit, This Way Up, Cinema
For All Conference, and Distributor Slate Days - interfaced through the prism of the Black experience in media whilst identifying influential allies and recognising Black-friendly organisations.
The TNB XPO 22 audiences were a range of freelancers and employed practitioners working in the creative industries, particularly film & HETV. Our audience are predominantly from the African Diaspora with the intention to convene, connect and collaborate.
