Bright Stars at Cranmore The ‘Bright Stars’ Nursery at Cranmore is play-based with the emphasis on developing understanding, skills and attitudes in a warm and caring atmosphere. We recognise that each child is unique and we tailor the daily programme to meet the needs of each individual. In its recent Ofsted report Cranmore was recognised for its ‘outstanding educational experience’. As a Catholic school, Cranmore is a ‘place of optimism, endeavour and mutual respect based on Gospel values. All in the community place equal importance on high academic achievement and the pupils’ all round personal development’. (Diocesan report, Nov 2008)

Girls and boys are welcomed into ‘Bright Stars’ from the age of 2½ years. The children are divided into two age groups: Pre-Nursery: 2½ - 3½ years old and Nursery: 3½ - 4½ years old.

Learning Environment ‘Bright Stars’ operates separately from the rest of the school and is situated at the front of the original building. Four connecting rooms provide plenty of space for the children to learn and play together and also allows for the Pre-Nursery and Nursery age to be separated into different rooms for daily activities. Extensive grounds - two adventure playgrounds, fields, school garden, sensory garden, woodland, tennis courts. Extensive Nursery suite with interactive smartboard and large well-equipped outdoor play area. Use of Sports Hall / Gymnasium / ICT suite / Music Room / Junior library /visits to the school indoor swimming pool.


The Curriculum The Six areas of the Foundation Stage are delivered by highly qualified Early Years specialists in an imaginative and stimulating way.

Frequently asked questions Is there a uniform? All the children in ‘Bright Stars’ wear a Cranmore tracksuit which is comfortable and versatile. What does my child do if he/she is staying until 6.00pm? Planned activities are organised both indoors and outdoors. A light tea is available at 4.00pm for children staying after 3.30pm. My child has allergies. How will the school cope with these? The catering staff are aware of any boys with food allergies. There is a qualified nurse on the school premises until 5.00pm. All staff are made aware of ANY child with medical needs. Are the staff suitably qualified? The ‘Bright Stars’ staff are all experienced and qualified Early Years Practitioners. The Head of Nursery is a qualified teacher. Can I be flexible week to week with the hours my child attends ‘Bright Stars’? Yes, as long as you inform a member of staff we are happy to be flexible. What does my child need? Wellington boots and plimsolls are kept in school in separate bags. Spare clothes (in case of accidents) should be left at school in a named bag. Please ensure all items are clearly named!
