Dobrodošli na dvije čarobne obale Kad otvorite kartu opštine Bar ukazaće vam se slika čudesnog podneblja u koji su utkani najljepši dragulji prirode i ljudskih tvorevina. Bar ima dva lica i oba se ogledaju u vodi - cijelo područje opštine smješteno je između obala Jadranskog mora i Skadarskog jezera. Među njima se uzdiže planina Rumija čiji kameniti obronci prelaze u vinograde i kestenove šume na jezerskoj strani i hiljadugodišnje maslinjake koji dosežu do mora. Ovaj prastari prostor posjeduje gotovo sve što Mediteran može da ponudi: u blještavoj jadranskoj svjetlosti kupaju se neke od najljepših plaža Jadrana, stari gradovi i utvrđenja, turistička mjesta, spomenici drevnih kultura, drvoredi palmi, hoteli, marine... u toploj, zelenoj vodi jezera ogledaju se živopisna sela i mostovi, stoljetne šume, srednjovjekovni manastiri i čuveni crmnički vinogradi. U ovom jedinstvenom susretu svjetlosti, u miješanju morskih boja i mirisa sa jezerskim, smjeni šuma i maslinjaka, slatkog i slanog, sjedinjena je ljepota i atraktivnost ovog prostora. Welcome to two magical shores 2
When you open a map of Bar municipality, you see a wonderful area that showcases the breathtaking beauty of nature combined with archaic man-made architectural gems. The city of Bar has two faces and both of them are reflected in water – the entire municipality is located between the shores of the Adriatic Sea and of Lake Skadar. Between them, Mount Rumija rises. Towards the lake, its rocky slopes are replaced by vineyards and chestnut forests, while thousand-year old olive groves cover the area towards the sea. This area has almost all that the Mediterranean has to offer: some of the finest Adriatic beaches bask in the sparkling Adriatic light, as well as old towns and forts, tourist attractions, monuments of ancient cultures, rows of palm trees, hotels, marinas… In the warm, green water of the lake, lively villages and bridges are reflected, as well as forests hundreds of years old, medieval monasteries and the famous vineyards from the region of Crmnica. The beauty and attractiveness of the entire region comes together in this unique meeting place of light, with the combination of sea and lake colours and scents, alternating between forests, olive groves, fresh and salt water. Each visitor is bound to find something special to suit oneself.

Bar is a completely new city, which was founded in this location only in the 20 th century. It was constructed, and is still being developed – as a modern and open city, comfortable for living and repose. It is recognisable for its decorated boulevards bordered by Mediterranean vegetation, as well as the many promenades by the sea, and very mild climate.

Bar is a city with a long tradition of rich cultural heritage. It is a city of culture, festivals and events that take place in open-air. Numerous entertainment and cultural events take place throughout the year. Some of them, such as the “Bar Almanac” (Barski ljetopis), “Summer with the Stars” (Ljeto sa zvijezdama), “International TV Festival” (Internacionalni TV festival), and “Olive Festival” (Maslinijada), have become regional events and are a trademark of Bar.

Crnogorski kralj Nikola I podigao je svoju rezidenciju 1885. godine, na samoj obali. U sklopu kompleksa nalazi se zimska bašta i dvorana u kojoj se održavaju kulturne manifestacije, kao i park sa raznolikim mediteranskim rastinjem. U dvorcu se danas nalazi Zavičajni muzej Bara.
Montenegrin King Nikola I constructed his residence in 1885 on the Adriatic Coast. The complex includes a winter garden and a hall for cultural events, as well as a park with rich Mediterranean vegetation. Today, the castle is home to the Homeland Museum of Bar.

As a true Mediterranean city, the Bar Marina has almost 1,000 slips, located in the city centre, in the vicinity of the international transport terminal. It is surrounded by the town beach, promenade, restaurants, hotels, and sports courts.

The sea shore of Bar is 46 km long, of which 9 km is comprised by beaches. Their names, given to them by visitors, speak volumes about their attractiveness and beauty: Pearl Coast, Golden Coast, Queen’s Beach, Red Beach, etc.
Sportski centar Sports centre U Baru djeluje preko pedeset sportskih klubova i udruženja. Moderna sportska dvorana „Topolica”, sa 3.000 mjesta, nudi odlične uslove za razne sportove. The warm and clear Adriatic Sea offers the possibility for various activities: sports fishing on land or open sea, sailing, exploring the rich underwater world hiding many reefs and caves, and archaeological sites, often of sunken ships. For those who do not want to exert themselves too much, there are cruises along the coast which guarantee an unforgettable view, as well as a taste of gastronomic specialties.
Stari Bar Bar Old Town Milenijumska istorija ovog područja vezuje se za Stari Bar, utvrđeni grad podignut na strmoj litici u podnožju planine Rumije. Zaštićen klisurom sa sjeverne strane i opasan bedemima, Stari Bar je vjekovima bio administrativni centar iz kojeg se vladalo okolnim zemljama. A vladari su se smjenjivali tokom dva milenijuma: Vizantinci, Sloveni, Mlečani, Turci... uzidali su svoj trag u ovaj grad-spomenik. Tek kad je stalna ratna opasnost prošla, Bar je mogao da napusti svoje kameno gnijezdo na litici i udobno se raširi u polju pored samog mora.

The millennial history of this area started with Bar Old Town, a fortified town constructed on a steep cliff at the foot of Mount Rumija. Protected by a gorge on one side, and encircled by walls, Bar Old Town was for centuries the administrative centre from which the neighbouring countries were ruled. The rulers changed over two millennia: the Byzantines, Slavs, Venetians, and Ottomans… All of them have left their mark in this epic town. Only when the threat of wars had passed was Bar able to leave its stone nest and to settle comfortably in the valley in plain view of the sea.

Muzej pod vedrim nebom Open-air museum O moći i bogatstvu Starog Bara svjedoče brojni arheološki nalazi, ostaci katedralnih crkava i nadbiskupske palate. Sa sjeverne strane nalazi se akvadukt iz XVII vijeka kojim je grad snabdijevan vodom sa izvora udaljenog tri kilometra. Neki od objekata u Starom Baru su rekonstruisani i privedeni novim, uglavnom kulturnim funkcijama: sat kula, carinarnica, hamam... I akvadukt je obnovljen tako da se i danas može koristiti.
Numerous archaeological findings, remains of cathedrals and the archbishop’s palace testify of the power and wealth of Bar Old Town. To the north there is a 17 th century aqueduct which used to supply the town with water from a spring 3 km away. Some of the buildings in Bar Old Town were reconstructed and adapted for new, mostly cultural purposes: the clock tower, customs house, hamam… The aqueduct was also restored and can be used even today.

Ako je grad u zidinama danas nijemi svjedok prošlih vjekova, njegovo neposredno okruženje to svakako nije. Starobarska čaršija vrvi od života, posebno ljeti kada brojni turisti uživaju u živopisnom okruženju, zabavi i gastronomskim specijalitetima koje nude brojni restorani i taverne. Ovdje se održavaju i neke od popularnih manifestacija koje privlače brojne posjetioce, kao što je Maslinijada.
In ruins today, this town stands as a silent observer. However, this is certainly not the case with its direct surroundings. The area around Old Bar brims with life, particularly during the summer, when many tourists enjoy the lively atmosphere, entertainment and gastronomic specialties offered by the many restaurants and taverns. Some of the most popular events take place here and attract numerous visitors, such as the Olive Festival.
U Baru i njegovoj okolini se nalaze brojni spomenici sakralne arhitekture. Na obodu polja pod Starim Barom nalaze se dvije crkve - pravoslavna i katolička - obje posvećene Svetom Nikoli. U katoličkoj je smještena Barska nadbiskupija, osnovana 1089. godine. Ispred samog ulaza u njegove zidine nalazi se Džamija Omerbašića, sagrađena u XVII vijeku. Bar se ponosi i sa tri nova hrama: pravoslavnim hramom Sv. Jovana Vladimira, katoličkom konkatedralom Sv. Petra Apostola i džamijom Selimijom. O skladu međuvjerskih odnosa u Baru svjedoči i Crkva Sv. Tekle u Sutomoru iz XIII vijeka, gdje se još mogu vidjeti dva oltara pred kojima sa mole i pravoslavci i katolici.
In Bar and its surroundings, there are numerous monuments of sacral architecture. On the edge of the plain beneath Old Bar there are two churches – one Orthodox and the other Catholic – which are dedicated to St. Nicholas. The Catholic one is home to the Archdiocese of Bar, which was founded in 1089. In front of the entrance to Old Bar, there is the Omerbašić Mosque, which was built in the 17 th century. Bar also boasts three new temples: the Orthodox Temple of St. Jovan Vladimir, the Catholic Co-cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle, and the Selimye Mosque. The harmony between the three confessions in Bar can be evidenced at the Church of St. Thecla in Sutomore from the 13 th century, in which it is still possible to see two altars where the Orthodox and the Catholics both pray.

Ono je zakonom zaštićeno kulturno dobro, ali i više od toga – sveto drvo: legenda kaže da su se pod njom oduvijek uspješno mirile zavađene porodice.
In the immediate vicinity of Bar Old Town, there is an ancient witness of the millennial duration of life in this area. It was scientifically proven that this olive tree is more than 2,240 years old. It is a cultural property protected by law, and it is also much more – it is a holy tree: legend has it that feuding families were always able to find peace when they met under the tree.

Maslina, majka, hraniteljka Olive, mother, food provider Barski maslinjaci su među najstarijim i najljepšim na Mediteranu, a barsko maslinovo ulje je sinonim za vrhunski kvalitet. Maslina je simbol doma, sigurnosti i opstanka. Prema drevnoj tradiciji, nijedan mladić nije mogao da se oženi ako prethodno ne zasadi određeni broj maslina, tako da se procjenjuje da ih danas ima više od sto hiljada. Obilazak drevnih maslinjaka uređenim turističkim stazama i degustacija ulja i drugih proizvoda od maslina pružaju jedinstven doživljaj.
The olive groves of Bar are among the oldest and the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, and Bar olive oil is synonymous with top quality. The olive is a symbol of home, security and survival. According to ancient tradition, no young man could get married before he planted a certain number of olive trees, and it is estimated that today there are more than a hundred thousand olive trees in Bar. Visiting ancient olive groves via special tourist paths, and the tasting of oil and other olive products is a special event.

Sutomore Sutomore Sutomore je najpoznatije turističko mjesto barske rivijere. Nastalo je od ribarskog naselja priljubljenog uz dugu pješčanu plažu. Danas ima brojne hotele, restorane kao i vikend naselja u zaleđu. Sutomore je glavna destinacija omladine: dobra muzika i zabava su zagarantovani 24 časa dnevno.
Sutomore is the most famous tourist settlement on the Bar Riviera. It started out as a fishing village along a lengthy sand beach, but today it has many hotels, restaurants and weekend homes in the vicinity. Sutomore is the main destination for young people: good music and fun is guaranteed 24 hours a day.

Bogorodica Ratačka i utvrđenje Nehaj Our Lady of Ratac and Haj-Nehaj Fortress Ostaci benediktinskog samostana Bogorodice Ratačke iz XI vijeka nalaze se na rtu Ratac, oko kojeg su brojne skrovite plaže. Odavde se pruža fantastičan pogled na Sutomore i Bar. Utvrđeni grad Nehaj iz XV vijeka nalazi se na vrhu strmog brda između Sutomora i Čanja.
Remains of the Benedictine Monastery of Our Lady of Ratac from the 11 th century are located on the Ratac cape, around which many hidden beaches exist. The view of Sutomore and Bar from this point is fantastic. The fortified town of Nehaj from the 15 th century is located on the top of a steep hill between Sutomore and Čanj.

Čanj je turističko naselje u izolovanoj uvali sa hotelskim kompleksima i vikendicama naslonjenim na plažu dugu 1.100 m, prekrivenu „bisernim pijeskom“. Pored velikih plaža u Čanju i Sutomoru, u ovoj oblasti se nalaze brojne manje plaže sakrivene borovom šumom. Ima ih i potpuno divljih, koje nude puni doživljaj netaknute mediteranske prirode.
Čanj is a tourist settlement in an isolated cove with hotel resorts and weekend houses along the 1,100 m long beach covered in “pearl sand.” In addition to the long beaches in Čanj and Sutomore there are many smaller beaches hidden in the pine forests in this region. There are also completely isolated beaches which offer an opportunity to experience untouched Mediterranean natural surroundings.

Kraljičina plaža Queen’s Beach U neposrednoj blizini Čanja, pristupačna samo s mora, nalazi se plaža koju je posjećivala crnogorska kraljica Milena. Ovo je po mnogima najljepša plaža Crnogorskog primorja i jedna od najljepših na cijelom Jadranu.
In the vicinity of Čanj, accessible only from the sea, there is a beach which used to be visited by the Montenegrin Queen Milena. According to many, this is the most beautiful beach on the Montenegrin coast and one of the most beautiful in the entire Adriatic.
Dobra Voda DobraVoda Dobra Voda je vikend naselje u hladovini maslinjaka i agruma. Prostrana plaža Veliki pijesak, osunčana od prvog zraka jutarnjeg sunca do večeri, oivičena je malim, modernim hotelima i restoranima. Ovo je idealno mjesto za cjelodnevni boravak pored mora.
Dobra Voda is a weekend settlement located in the shade of olive and citrus trees. The spacious beach “Great Sand” (Veliki pijesak), which the sun hits from the early morning until the evening, is bordered by small modern hotels and restaurants. This is an ideal place to spend an entire day by the sea.

In the hinterland of the beaches of Bar, there are many villages well known for their agricultural products and cattle. When “from Bar” is used descriptively – for pomegranates, oranges or cheese – you instantly know they are talking about premium quality.

Utjeha is the southernmost cove of Bar Municipality. In its hinterland, there are dense olive groves with ancient trees that offer shade from the noon sun to visitors. With many weekend homes and restaurants, this is a place in which tourists can stay up and have fun until dawn.
Plaže za svačiji ukus Beaches for everyone’s taste Iako se nižu jedna za drugom, nijedna barska plaža nije nalik prethodnoj: možete birati od dugih i prostranih plaža u turističkim naseljima, do skrivenih uvala do kojih je moguće doći samo čamcem. Izbor može zavisiti i od boje: crvenog i narandžastog pijeska ili sivih i plavih oblutaka.
Even though they are all connected, no beach in Bar is alike: you can choose between long and spacious beaches in tourist settlements and hidden coves accessible only by boat. The choice can depend on colour as well: red and orange sand, or grey and blue pebbles.

Rumija se uzdiže između morske i jezerske obale, do visine od 1333 m. Bogata je vodom i ljekovitim biljem. Za nju se vezuju mnoge legende od kojih je najpoznatija ona o Vladimiru i Kosari. Kneza Vladimira, vladara iz XI vijeka, kojeg je u ratu zarobio makedonski car Samuilo, oslobodila je ljubav careve kćeri Kosare, koja mu je postala žena. Nakon nekog vremena, Samuilov nasljednik Vladislav na prevaru domami mladog kneza u Prespu i ubije ga na vratima crkve, uprkos obećanju i zalogu bezbjednosti oličenom u krstu koji mu je poslao. Kosara sahrani svog voljenog u manastiru Prečista Krajinska, zamonaši se i tu provede život, oplakujući izgubljenu ljubav. Knez Vladimir je proglašen za sveca. Svake godine, na dan Sv. Trojice, krst koji je Vladimir imao u rukama kada je ubijen, vjekovima čuva i iznosi bratstvo Andrović na vrh planine Rumije, u pratnji brojnih poštovalaca, pripadnika sve tri vjeroispovijesti.

Ove planine su oduvijek smatrane staništem mitskih stvorenja. Jedna legenda govori o skrivenoj pećini nastanjenoj vilama koje su savjetovale, tješile i pomagale svima kojima je pomoć bila potrebna - samo nijesu željele da ih ljudsko oko ikada vidi. Ipak, jedna grupa seljaka je jednom u ranu zoru vidjela vile i one su, uvrijeđene, odlučile da napuste svoju pećinu i ovaj kraj. Žalosne zbog odlaska i u želji da ne budu zaboravljene, na odlasku su za sobom bacale „viline pare“, za koje se vjeruje da donose sreću onome ko ih pronađe. Uz malo truda, one se i danas mogu naći na padinama Sutormana.
Mount Rumija rises over the sea and lake shores to an altitude of 1,333 m. It is rich in water and medicinal herbs. There are many legends about the mountain, most famous being the one about Vladimir and Kosara. Prince Vladimir, the 11 th century ruler, who was imprisoned during wartime by the Macedonian King Samuel and was freed because of his love for the king’s daughter, Kosara, who later became his wife. Some time later, Samuel’s heir, Vladislav, tricked the young prince into coming to the city of Prespa and killed him at the entrance to a church, in spite of promising and vouching safety by sending a special cross to Vladimir. Kosara buried her love in the Monastery of the Virgin of Krajina, became a nun and spent the rest of her life there, mourning the loss of her beloved husband. Prince Vladimir was later canonised. Each year, on Trinity Sunday, the cross which Vladimir had in his hands when he was killed, is taken by the Andrović clan to the top of Mount Rumija in the company of many worshipers from all three confessions.

The legend of the fairy coins These mountains were always considered to be the habitat of mythical creatures. A legend tells about a hidden cave inhabited by fairies which advised, comforted, and assisted all those who needed help – they just never wanted to be seen. However, a group of villagers one time in the early dawn saw the fairies and they decided to leave their cave and this area because they were embarrassed. Saddened because they had to leave and wishing not to be forgotten, as they flew off they dropped “fairy coins,” which are believed to bring good luck to those who find them. With a little effort, they can still be found on the slopes of Sutorman.
Skadarsko jezero Lake Skadar
Skadarsko jezero, najveće na Balkanskom poluostrvu, pruža se 50 kilometara u zaleđu planina koje ga odvajaju od mora. Njegova površina varira u zavisnosti od vodostaja od 350 do 500 km². Na brojnim jezerskim ostrvima nalaze se stare tvrđave i manastiri, a živopisna ribarska naselja skrivaju se u zaštićenim uvalama. Iznad jezera se nalaze vidikovci sa kojih se pruža jedinstven pogled na panoramu jezera.
Lake Skadar, the largest in the Balkans, is located 50 kilometres inland, behind the mountains that separate it from the sea. Its surface varies between 350 and 500 km² depending on the water level. On the numerous islands in the lake, there are old forts and monasteries, and the lively fishing villages are hidden along the protected coves. Above the lake, there are viewpoints, which give a unique view of the panorama of the lake.
Nacionalni park National Park Jezero je dinamični eko-sistem sa velikim močvarnim zonama koje obiluju životinjskim i biljnim svijetom - ovdje živi preko 52 vrste riba (šaran, ukljeva, jegulja...) kao i 280 vrsta ptica. Zato su najznačajniji djelovi jezera zaštićeni i proglašeni nacionalnim parkom.
The lake is a dynamic ecosystem with large swamp areas, rich in animal and plant life – there are 52 types of fish living here (carp, bleak, eel…), as well as 280 types of birds. That is why the most important parts of the lake are protected and are part of the national park.

Tvrđava Grmožur Grmožur Fortress Na istoimenom ostrvu, Turci su podigli tvrđavu u XIX vijeku, na granici sa Crnom Gorom. Danas njome vladaju ptice: tu se nalazi jedinstveno gnjezdilište velikog jezerskog kormorana.
The Ottomans constructed this fortress on the island by the same name in the 19 th century, on the former border with Montenegro. Today, it is ruled by birds and is a unique nesting place for the large lake cormorant.
Plaža pod krošnjama A beach under the treetops Najljepša jezerska plaža nalazi se u mjestu Murići. U njenom zaleđu su livade i šume, idealne za odmor u hladu, naročito ako ste došli biciklom.
The most beautiful beach on the lake is located in the village of Murići. It is surrounded by meadows and forests, ideal for vacation in the shade, particularly if you come by bicycle.
Aktivni odmor... veoma aktivan Active vacation... Very active Jezero sa okolinom je idealna destinacija za aktivni odmor: ljubitelji pješačenja i biciklizma mogu uživati u prekrasnim pejzažima i kulturnim dobrima duž desetine kilometara markiranih pješačkih i bicikističkih staza tokom čitave godine. Tu su i sportovi na vodi: otkrivanje laguna, ostrvaca i ribarskih sela kajakom je jedinstven način doživljaja Skadarskog jezera, a topla jezerska voda uz gotovo svakodnevni blag vjetar na otvorenom, idealni su za jedrenje. U skrovitim lagunama, pokrivenim trskom, moguće je posmatrati ptice, među kojima su i rijetke i zaštićene vrste.

The lake and its environs is an ideal destination for active vacations: lovers of hiking and cycling can enjoy beautiful landscapes and cultural attractions along tens of kilometres of marked walking and cycling paths throughout the year. There are also water sports: discovering lagoons, islets and fishing villages by kayak is a unique way to experience Lake Skadar, and the warm lake water with almost a daily breeze, makes it an ideal place for sailing. In the hidden lagoons, covered with reeds, it is possible to watch birds, some of which include rare and protected species.
Manastiri na goricama Island monasteries Na tri susjedna ostrva - Starčevu, Beškoj i Moračniku - nalaze se istoimeni manastiri iz XIII i XIV vijeka. Njihovi osnivači iz dinastije Balšića načinili su od njih centre kulture i pismenosti. Danas su ovi manastiri obnovljeni i aktivni, a posjeta ovoj „svetoj gori“ u netaknutoj divljini Skadarskog jezera zapravo je putovanje u davnu prošlost.
On three neighbouring islands - Starčevo, Beška and Moračnik – there are monasteries of the same name from the 13th and 14th centuries. Their founders from the Balšić dynasty made them into centres of culture and literacy. Today, these monasteries are renewed and are active, and a visit to this “holy mountain” in the untouched wilderness of Lake Skadar is in fact a journey into the past.

Svi crmnički putevi sastaju se u Virpazaru, turističkom centru Crmnice. Nekada važan ekonomski i saobraćajni centar Crne Gore, danas je poznato izletište i polazna stanica za krstarenje po Skadarskom jezeru, obilazak kulturno-istorijskih spomenika i razne vidove aktivnog turizma. Odmah iznad varoši nalazi se utvrđenje Besac iz XV vijeka, koje dominira okruženjem.
All roads in the region of Crmnica meet in Virpazar, its tourist centre. A former important economic and transportation centre of Montenegro, Virpazar today is a well-known place for excursions and a starting point for cruises on Lake Skadar, visits to cultural and historic monuments, and various types of sports-oriented tourism. Besac Fortress from the 15 th century is located just above the town and dominates the entire area.
Zimske fešte Winter festivals Virpazar je domaćin brojnih manifestacija, a najpoznatija je svakako „Festival vina i ukljeve” koji se održava u kasnu jesen. Na njemu se slave, iznad svega ostalog, crmničko vino i jezersko zlato - ukljeva, endemska riba Skadarskog jezera, gastronomski specijalitet.
Virpazar is home to numerous events, the most famous being the “Festival of wine and bleak,” held in late autumn. It celebrates, above all, the wine of the region of Crmnica and the gold of Lake Skadar – bleak – which is endemic to Lake Skadar and is a gastronomic specialty.
Crmnica Crmnica
Crmnica, kako se naziva oblast koja obuhvata područje zapadne jezerske obale, mali je svijet za sebe. Crmnički pejzaž je zatalasan, sa strmim brdima koja se smjenjuju kao na dječijem crtežu. Sa njih se spuštaju slikovita sela i krivudavi putevi sve do Polja, koje se pruža do jezerske obale. Iz zelenog crmničkog pejzaža vire zvonici seoskih crkava, kojih ovdje ima ponekad i tri-četiri u jednom selu.
Crmnica, which is the name of the area covering the western shore of the lake, is a world of its own. The Crmnica landscape is wavy, with steep hills which seem to go on forever. Picturesque villages are located on its slopes, and the winding roads lead to the plain which covers the area all the way to the lake shore. The bell towers of village churches protrude from the green landscape of Crmnica, sometimes as much as three or four per village.

Njegovo veličanstvo - Vranac His Majesty - Vranac Simbol Crmnice, a i cijele Crne Gore, je svakako crmnički vranac, snažno vino, rubin crvene boje dobijene od autohtone, istoimene vrste loze, koja se upravo odavde raširila po regionu. Brojni mali proizvođači nude svoje vino u živopisnom ambijentu crmničkih sela, a posjeta vinskim podrumima i degustacija vina su nezaobilazan dio crmničke avanture.
The symbol of Crmnica, and of the whole of Montenegro, is certainly the Vranac of Crmnica, a strong, ruby-red wine made from the autochthonous grape by the same name, which spread over the entire region from this location. Numerous small wine makers offer their wine products in the lively environment of Crmnica villages. Visiting wine cellars and going wine tasting is a mandatory part of the Crmnica adventure.
U Crmnici, u mjestu Brijege, može se naći granat, poludragi kamen, o kojem postoji zanimljiva legenda. Ona govori o djevojci koja je nosila vrč mladog vina na dar boginji plodnosti, ali se izgubila u šumi i sledila od straha. Vrč se razbio, vino prosulo, a na tom mjestu su se pojavila zrnca granata boje crmničkog vina. Od tada se granati skupljaju i čuvaju u prvom natočenom vinu, kao amajlija plodnosti.
In the region of Crmnica, in the Brijege village, you can find garnet, a semi-precious gemstone, with an interesting legend to its name. It tells about a little girl carrying a jug of fresh wine to be offered to the goddess of fertility, who lost her way in the woods and was petrified with fear. The jug broke, the wine was spilled, and in that place garnet granules appeared the colour of Crmnica wine. Garnet has ever since been collected and kept in the first bottle of poured wine, as a token of fertility.
Crkva Svetog Toma St. Thomas’ Church
Narodno predanje kaže da je Crkva Svetog Toma u Limljanima, nakon velike kiše, zajedno sa stijenom na kojoj je sagrađena sletjela niz padinu. Ostala je čitava, samo okrenuta u novom smjeru: jugoistok – sjeverozapad.
According to popular belief, St. Tomas’ Church in Limljani, after a torrential rain, slid down a slope together with the rock it was built on. It remained intact, except that it is now oriented between the southeast and northwest.
Crmnički manastiri Monasteries of Crmnica Crmnica obiluje kulturnim i etnografskim nasljeđem. U zapadnom dijelu Crmnice nalaze se tri manastira, sakrivena u gustim hrastovim šumama. U selu Brčeli, nazvani po selu, čak dva - Gornji i Donji. Gornji, ženski manastir potiče iz XVIII vijeka dok je Donji mnogo stariji, po predanju čak iz XIV. Njegovu crkvu, posvećenu Sv. Nikoli krasi prekrasan ikonostas. Malo niže, u obližnjem selu Orahovo nalazi se istoimeni manastir sa očuvanim živopisom iz XVII vijeka.

The region of Crmnica has a rich cultural and ethnographic heritage. In the western part of Crmnica, there are three monasteries, hidden in the dense oak forests. In the village of Brčeli, there are two – Gornji Brčeli and Donji Brčeli. Gornji Brčeli, the female monastery originated in the 18 th century, whereas the Donji Brčeli Monastery is much older. Legend has it that it was built in the 14 th century. The church, dedicated to St. Nicholas is decorated by a beautiful iconostasis. In the nearby village of Orahovo, there is a monastery by the same name which was painted in the 17 th century.

Godinje je drevno vinogradarsko selo u kojem su kuće zbijene kao zrna u grozdu vranca. Ovaj mali lavirint povezanih ulica, voltova, konoba, stepeništa i mlinova najočuvaniji je primjer tradicionalne crmničke ruralne arhitekture.
Godinje is an ancient winegrowing village in which houses are packed like grapes in a cluster of the Vranac grape variety. This small labyrinth of interconnected streets, vaults, cellars, stairwells and mills is the best preserved example of traditional rural architecture from Crmnica.
Krajina Krajina
Idući ka jugoistočnom dijelu obale Skadarskog jezera pejzaž se mijenja. Zelena i vodom bogata Crmnica prelazi u suve kamenite obronke Rumije, prekrivene niskim rastinjem i ljekovitim biljkama. Ali i Krajina, kako se naziva ova oblast, krije mnoge bisere u sakrivenim dolinama, šumama i selima. Njeno glavno naselje je Ostros, živopisna varošica okružena šumama pitomog kestena čije su krošnje tako guste da je pod njima svježe i po najvećoj ljetnjoj vrućini.

Heading towards the south-eastern part of the shore of Lake Skadar, the landscape starts to change. The green region of Crmnica, rich in water, turns into dry rocky slopes of Mount Rumija, covered in shrub and medicinal herbs. However, Krajina, as this region is called, also hides many gems in the hidden valleys, forests and villages. Its main settlement is Ostros, a lively little town surrounded by forests of domesticated chestnuts, where the treetops are so dense that they provide cooling comfort even on the hottest summer days.

U Ostrosu se nalaze ostaci manastira Prečista Krajinska, najstarijeg i najvećeg hrama na Skadarskom jezeru. Podignut je u XI vijeku kao sjedište svog osnivača, kneza Vladimira.
U Krajini nema izvorske vode pa se stanovništvo vjekovima oslanjalo na izgradnju bunara. U mjestu Ostros nalazi se bunar žive vode koji datira iz 1001. godine, a koji i danas snabdijeva stanovništvo okolnih sela pitkom vodom. U neposrednoj blizini pravu atrakciju predstavljaju 12 bunara u hladovini kestenove šume u selu Boljevići.
The remains of the Monastery of Our Lady of Krajina lay in Ostros. It is the oldest and the largest place of worship on Lake Skadar. It was constructed in the 11 th century as the seat of its founder, Prince Vladimir.
In Krajina, there are no fresh water springs so the population had to rely on building wells for centuries. In Ostros, there is a fresh water well dating back to 1001, which still supplies the population of the local villages with drinking water. A true local attraction are the 12 wells in the shade of the chestnut forest in the village of Boljevići.
