The idea of my kite-pulk is to facilitate traveling by land in the polar regions by a newly developed use of wind power. For non-motorized expeditions in this area the common way is to use pulks. These are lightweight sleds, used for transporting the equipment. The traditional movement with wind assistance means the kite is pulling the skier and the skier is pulling the pulk. The pulk and the kite are both connected with a leash on the travelers hip. At first sight the pulling force is very supportive, but the traveler is still physically stressed mainly by the required edging of the skis. The concept kite-pulk combines the principle of a kite-buggy with a pulk. Watching at the kite-buggy, the driver sits on a vehicle with wheels and is pulled from the kite mainly on the beach or other flat terrain. My kite-pulk makes it possible to act as a helmsman sitting on the back of the pulk and controlling the direction and the kite from there. Thanks to this seated position the driver is significantly relieved. The adventurer is no longer the center between traction and towing capacity because the kite is attached directly to the pulk and pulk is edging on its own. For that I have provided my pulk with outriggers and a steering mechanism. The skis that are anyway part of the equipment will be mounted on the outriggers, thus provide the necessary lateral support and specify the direction of travel. Via the steering mechanism which is operated by feet, the position of the outrigger is changing and influence the direction of travel. If the weather terms and ground conditions does not allow the kite-operation the outriggers folded in and the kitepulk is pulled as any other conventional pulk. For visualization I created a three-minute film, which brings the viewer closer to the location and the associated atmosphere. The selected scenes were collected from various sources and combined in new ways. I have added the kite-pulk in some scenes as real as possible using compositing- and animation-techniques. With the arrangement of the scenes, the music selection and corresponding cuts and effects, a drama is made. So I have illustrated the use of my product – the kite-pulk.

The concept combines classical jukebox-design-elements with modern technology from the High-End-HiFi area. Beside rotatable and flexible OLED-Displays you find also proven components like tube amplifier and hornloudspeakers inside the music player. The user is not only experiencing a reaction which is based on virtual and acoustic feedback, but is also going through a mechanically interaction. Browsing through music albums and selecting desired titles, can be operated by two selector wheels at the lateral sides. The user can choose between songs from 25 albums - all harmonized with one another. That means: No mass media offering, rather a modern device, tailored to the consumer needs and designed for the gastronomy usage.
