CV Tobias Sebastian Cokro P e rs o n al S ta te me n t / In tr o d u ct io n Born in Indonesia, I came to Melbourne in order to pursue my study in architecture. Since young i was pretty interested in 3D forms and shapes taught in math subjects at school, which eventually got me interested in architectural designs. Persistent nature is one of my defining traits, and has helped me in developing further on my problem solving skills and critical thinking. The open mindset and positive learning attitude towards new things and exposures has always been my drive in moving forward towards new stages in things. Some interests of mine are the theories and philosophy in architecture, noting how to always be mindful of a good design that can improve its surrounding environments, the nature, and its people. I believe this portfolio shows my overall skills and capabilities in architectural area; and my point of view, of every aspect in regards to architecture.

Icon Library Public Library Collingwood, Victoria, Australia
The precinct area Collingwood is pretty famous for its football club with a magpie as its center mascot. With the aim to make a landmark/icon for the area/precinct, the idea involves a massive structure, enveloping main building, as metaphor of “a bird protecting the building”. The structure were arrayed in a radial pattern each at a different height creating a curve/wavy movement resembling a bird’s wings’ form around the head while from interior aspect of the building, gives more attraction to the space.

Ant’s Community Centre Public Community Centre Yarra Ranges, Victoria, Australia
As creatures living as a community, ants live in an identically similar way to us humans. The idea is to make people experience as if they are inside of said community’s own habitat; the ant’s nest. Rigid exterior form and steel panels-cladded walls emphasizes a ‘border’. The interior structure takes shape of random shaped holes/tunnels, a ‘soil fill’ typically seen inside of an ant’s nest throughout the upper part of the building, acting as shades throughout the whole building’s interiors.

Flow Mixed Use Building - SoHo & Food Market Melbourne, Australia
27
Fl ow
Located in the middle of Melbourne CBD’s bustling environment, the project strives to provide a rather quiet yet still equally comfortable environment as to balance out the active environment outside of the area. With the use of light and series of open areas as the main source of comfort, the building provides the occupants with a comfortably satisfying environment to dwell in every single one of its programs; both private SoHo spaces with the multifunction communal space below (pop-up bars, cafes, etc).

Rejuvenate Relaxation - Bath House - Medation - Spa Princess Highway, South Bank, Australia
Located in the heavily industrialized and work-oriented Southbank area, the initial idea is to create a balance out the living conditions of the area. Right in between a two-way highway, the design embraces the quality difference between spaces below and above the highway, enhances those experiences in the design. The result is a place of various types of relaxation, a place for people to escape, a momentary ‘getaway’ from their work business and exhaustion of everyday life routine.

Green Generator Infrastructure, Land Use Planning Bundaran HI, Jakarta, Indonesia
Traffic density has been a major problem, ever-increasing in Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta. As the centre of country’s economic, cultural and political centre, it is full of all kinds of activity and people. With the ever-increasing use of motorized vehicle this heavily reduces the efficiency, productivity of jobs around the city. Addressing to this issue, we decided to create a transportation system new to the country in order to reduce private vehicle use and encourage the use of public transportation which is more efficient and convenient for travelling around the city.
39
Gr een Gen era t or
Few transportation hub will be placed in each region of the city (west, east, north, south, central) connected to each other in a bigger scale to disperse and reduce the traffic, reducing distance for private vehicle use, to use hub for middle to long distance travel. Other Hub programs are to provide daily necessity for the people, to encourage more public use. The Hub also serves as a “momentary escape from daily life and a remedy to its surroundings.
